Absolutely gorgeous place! I love the atmosphere and as soon as you walk in, you can feel the upbeat vibe! I initially went to visit my friend Rodney, who is the new restaurant manager. I decided to sit down and have one of their delicious Pina Coladas, which was made with perfection! After a while, I decided to order some food and went with their World Famous Coconut Shrimp! As an aside, the bar always has 2-3 bartenders at one time and they all ensured I was well taken care of and made sure my food came out correctly. They all were super sweet and nice. During another visit, I had their Classic Mojito which was equally as tasty as the Pina Colada! If you wanna bring some friends to have a good time, have some good food and great drinks, this is the place. As an added plus, since I went on a Saturday evening, they had live musicI I would describe it as a fun little location on the backside of the Town Center on River City Drive. It's also a great place to sit outside under the fans and people watch! We stumbled upon happy hour for a couple of apps and drinks at this place unexpectedly and what a pleasant surprise it was! We sat at the bar although there was also table service. The vibe was such that my husband joked that he felt like we were on a cruise just people watching as the shoppers passed by. Tommy Bahama is good! Nice outdoor area which was partially covered as it was cold when we went but really well heated. Food is delicious and drinks are good! Service is very good! I have nothing against this place and rather enjoy it, only drawback is it's kind of expensive. 12 glasses of anything but beer, $22 burgers and up from there. This is my other go-to when shopping at Town Center. The shrimp fajitas are amazing, served on a sizzling hot plate with the best guacamole I've eaten in Jville. The drinks are great also. We passed by this place walking (and because we didn't feel dressed appropriately in joggers and gym shorts) our first night in JAX, and ultimately decided to come here the next night because it looked so lovely yet relaxing at the same time. We came to this place and there was a half hour wait so we put our names down and they would text when a table was ready. We did end up staying until closing (10pm If I recall correctly) so about two hours. We did a little walking around before heading back early to the bar to have a drink while waiting for the table. This place is very open atmosphere - the patio/courtyard area has a fountain-ish area that separated tables and made it a more cozy environment. The bar is very sleek high end looking but still inviting. Michaela was our server for the night and she was impeccable- super sweet, and kind, while knocking suggestions out of the park. Meal and service were phenomenal. At the bar we each had a martini - espresso martini and coconut cloud martini. Both super pretty and delicious. I've been making a point to try an espresso martini at every place that offers one - I'm a coffee fanatic tbh. At the table we had the world famous coconut shrimp (heavenly and beautifully crisped coconut topping). We each got blackened mahi mahi tacos. Delicious with perfect amount of topping and the shells/chips were perfectly seasoned. Then we had some more drinks each - he had the frozen piña colada, grapefruit basil martini, and the raspberry jalapeño Paloma. I had the frozen mai tai and the sunset glow. A warning- you taste the Jalapeño with each sip of the Paloma. All of the drinks were very good and the liquor ratio was on point- nothing was weak. I will have to say the espresso martini was my favorite by far and then the Mai tai. Next time I'm in JAX, I'm getting more chips to go with the tacos! They were super tasty! Such a great experience at Tommy Bahama! We came in with a large party including two little ones in strollers and the staff was so accommodating from the jump. They pushed tables together and put us back in the corner so we had plenty of room with the strollers. It was a little chilly so they made sure they had a working heater for us by the babies too. McKayla was our server and she was lovely. Super attentive, helpful, quick and pleasant. Food runners were kind and the hostess even came back to check on us. Food was fresh and delicious although it took a good while to come out but we didn't mind because we were in good company. I had the blood orange martini and my husband had the grapefruit basil martini--both were refreshing and delicious. For food, I went with the mahi tacos (so good!) and he had the sliders. I really appreciate that they now give you the option to choose between 2 or 3 tacos/sliders. Three is usually too much for me, so being able to customize was a nice touch. Once you are seated (self seating) you can order additional items with any of the waiters that you see. The restaurant has huge open windows which give a great view for people watching. TB's is one of our favorite spots at the town center. The staff is welcoming and friendly, and service is usually pretty good. We dropped in for a drink and dinner, hoping to get the bar, but plenty of others had the same idea so we were seated at a table next to the long water feature. The view as very pleasant and rain outside made it cool and comfortable. We ordered drinks and chips and guac. My Mai Tai was great, and it's one of my go-to drinks there. We ordered dinner after finishing the great chips and guac, and enjoyed the rest of our drinks. Dinner arrived soon thereafter, and my Poke Bowl was delicious. The tuna was great quality and the flavors were melded perfectly. The only disappointment was my wife's salad. The menu stated it came with grilled chicken but there was none to be found. For a second I thought the waiter was going to tell us it actually did have chicken, but upon returning to the kitchen, he realized he had missed it. Quick fix and all was well. I started with the Buffalo cauliflower, because, let's be honest, eating vegetables doused in sauce and fried to perfection is my favorite way to stay "healthy." Super crispy, nicely spiced, with ranch and buffalo sauce on the side for my dipping pleasure (and it was!). Bonus points for the side pickle slices! For my main course, I dove into the ahi tuna poke bowl. The rice was cooked perfectly, the fish tasted fresh, and mixing in the seaweed salad added just the right touch of salty ocean goodness to every bite. Now, for the one tiny sand grain in the otherwise smooth beach experience: table cleaning. It's a seat-yourself situation, which is cool--until you realize most of the tables are still hanging out with the remnants of previous guests. A server swooped in to save the day when we sat down, but I noticed several other tables sitting dirty for quite a while, despite the restaurant being pretty quiet. A little more attention here would really elevate the experience--no one wants to choose between "dirty" and "wet." On a brighter note, the servers were lovely--super friendly, quick to help, and they clearly understand the art of making diners feel welcome. Bonus points for the outdoor heaters, which made the patio feel like a warm island escape in these chilly for Florida temps. All in all, Tommy Bahama gets four stars from me. It's got great food, great staff, and a vibe that makes you want to order another cocktail and pretend you're on vacation for one more day. We were on the waitlist for an hour. We are a party of 5. We were 7th in line at the start. After 30 minutes we were told they prioritize parties of 4 or less. Our wait would be longer. We were fine with that. We moved up to second. Then we moved up to first. No news. Still we waited another 20 minutes. Then we lost our place on the waitlist. I asked what happened? I was told that that usually happens with online reservations. I said, "huh? But you confirmed us! I spoke with you! I also have a text message to that effect! At 1:32pm!" The lady at the front looked at me and reentered my name and took down my phone number, promising another 10 minutes. As she was entering my information she said loudly and with sarcasm, within earshot of everyone at the reception podium, "I love my job! I love my job!" - as if it was her mantra. Right after that they ushered in a party of 6 ahead of us. And then another party of 5 with two babies. I would like to think that it wasn't because we were 5 Filipinos and we don't rate! That couldn't happen in Jacksonville FL! I just shut up and waited. 15 minutes later we got the text. Our table was ready. It was 2:34. We started at 1:32pm. We stayed because it was a small family reunion for us. We were talking while waiting. Advice: If you have a party of 5 or more, they'll tell you - like they told me - that they'll prioritize reservations for 4 or less and that your wait will be longer. They'll take your reservation, ask for your phone number, then you'll wait. Then they'll let other parties of 5 or more ahead of you. They'll tell you it's because it's the weekend and it's crowded. LIKE THEY DID NOT ANTICIPATE IT. Imagine that! Then when they seat you, they'll tell you they're out of chicken. At 2:54pm the waiter took our order. Now 3:12 pm. Our order finally arrived. My daughter and I were doing some Christmas shopping at St. John's Town Center and decided to stop here for lunch. You order at the counter and the waiters then deliver your food and drinks to your table. The menu has appetizers, salads, tacos, wings, sandwiches, and some entrees. I ordered the blackened shrimp chopped salad. It came with shredded romaine, feta, tomatoes, eggs, bacon, avocado, roasted corn salsa, and had herb buttermilk dressing. It was very tasty. My daughter had the grilled chicken and mango salad. It had baby greens, toasted almonds and macadamia nuts, feta, pepitas, dried blueberries, and tomatoes. It comes with a lemon basil vinaigrette dressing, but barely had any dressing at all so we had to ask for another side of dressing. That made it a lot better. Absolutely the worst experience for a first time visit. Had to order food from the bar since it took so long to get a table. Once seated we were seated at a table under a leaky ceiling. We had to move the table and seat over ourselves. The staff took over 20 minutes to find us another table, meanwhile there were 4 unbussed tables and cleared booth we could have been seated at immediately. The wait staff were inattentive and unbothered. Finally the food we ordered at the bar arrived to the table we eventually got packaged in to go boxes to eat at the table. This section was built around the existing fountains outside in Town Center. Drinks- Pricey but delicious - seems we missed happy hour which may be a nice option next time. About $12-20 for specialty cocktails which can add up quickly. Food- We shared different apps and meals. 1- Ahi Tuna Taco app: very delicious and fresh. Hard shell wonton. 2- Tater tots, wasn't expecting much but the sauce and flavor was outstanding. 3- Buffalo cauliflower- breading a bit thicker, but very good. 4-Blackened shrimp tacos, soft shell- very good and great flavor. 5- Corn dip with chips, good. Friend had a birthday dessert so we split the brownie with caramel sauce and ice cream rolled in toasted coconut. It was very good and more than enough for three. This is my favorite spot to get a bite on shopping at the town center mall. It's based originally in Hawaii. I like to get multiple items and share amongst friends. They had live music. There was a guy singing and playing his guitar. Unfortunately the water wasn't running today. It's very pretty and gives calming vibes. There are coconut, shrimp and street corn dip is my favorite. Today around 3:30 p.m., my wife and I walked up to the Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar host stand to ask how long the wait would be for two adults and a baby. The hostess told us "about 30-35 minutes." No problem at all as there were a few stores nearby, so she took our number and we went to kill some time. About 30 minutes later we came back to the stand and this time there was a different hostess. I asked how much longer it might be and she told us, "You guys are actually next if you'll just step right here we're bussing your table now." I look over to the same direction she's indicating and yep, indeed they're setting a table for us. As she was literally walking away to clean our table, a woman walked up and asked how long the wait was. The hostess told her "30-35min." The woman pointed at the table we were waiting on and said, "Why can't I have the one they're cleaning? Why is there such a wait?" The hostess tried to explain that someone already had that table (us), but the woman cut her off and said, "Why can't I just sit there." The hostess grabs her menus and somehow... she got the table. When the hostess came back, I stepped up again and she said, "I'm sorry but she was like so rude and pushy. We're working on another table for you now." I said "Oh. Okay? That makes sense?" We then waited another 5-10 minutes. What that told me is that wait times here don't actually mean much. If you're patient and respectful, you wait. If you're entitled and pushy enough, apparently you don't have to. Pretty disappointing experience. Lesson learned and I don't expect we'll be back. read more

Had family from out of town and their first time in Jacksonville. On 11/25/25 around 6-7pm - whoever the hostess was, was probably the rudest, laziest person I ever encountered. When we told her it was a party of 6 adults and 3 children she rolled her eyes and seemed unable to handle the task at hand.....which was simply her job. She told us multiple times she had to figure out what to do? Did the restaurant seem busy? No. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. And the best part? I guess to try to make us not want to eat there? (Because who doesn't want the business and money??) she told me they would have to do automatic gratuity for such a big party - absolutely not an issue. She proceeded to roll her eyes again when I told her I didn't care. She then angrily told us to come back in 10 minutes for her to "figure out" what to do for us. Well, we decided to take our business and money elsewhere to J.Alexander's just a few steps down and was seated immediately, no issues, and top notch service! Stay away from this place if you happen to be a larger party than 2 I guess? So the hostess doesn't have to do her job. Or maybe if you are a person of color as it seemed like she could have been put off by that as well. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! And being from Dallas, TX - this isn't our first time at this restaurant - the location in Plano, TX - we've visited multiple times with a large party and no issues at all! I only had a hour for lunch with my Bestfriend before heading to another appointment. This was the perfect place to grab tasty food, have good conversation, and efficient service without having grab and go or "fast food" We ordered the mahi tacos and the blackened shrimp tacos both were flavorful. I originally wanted the jerk chicken tacos as seen on Yelp but unfortunately they no longer serve them. We sat outside under heaters because the temperature finally feels like Christmas here in Florida. Went there in the early afternoon with a friend as I've heard good things about the food. Ordered a salad while my friend ordered tacos. Her food came out quickly but after waiting 30 minutes we asked about mine and were told it was given to someone else. No apology just "did you still want it" and as I was deciding whether or not to get it the server said don't worry we've got it. Was told by a male employee the salad was coming out again waited finally a mgr came out to confirm I still wanted it once again no apology offered. Salad finally brought out by mgr still no apology. My friend was waiting to eat with me so her meal was now cold. Halfway through my meal the mgr came over and gave me a courtesy card for an appetizer on my next visit thinking that would bring me back. I will say the salad was amazing but the poor service and lack of accountability makes it unlikely I will return nor will it be on my list of recommendations for family and friends. Jax has too many amazing places to eat that value providing exceptional meals from start to finish.
