Stood by the desk, someone asked if I needed help, I said I had a 1:30 with Micheal, then was told to sit upfront and he'd come check with me. 20 minutes later, still sitting in the front when a walk-in came in, someone went to go ask Micheal and he said 20-30 minutes and he'd be with him. So I walked back to talk to him and he was deep into coloring someone else's hair, gloves on and everything. So I asked if I still had my appointment, he said "Oh yeah," then said he'd help me in a little. He came and grabbed me finally, then immediately started accosting me about how it's my fault I didn't walk over to him. I don't live here, I don't know who he is so how could I? He continued to accost me the whole cut, lecturing me how it's my fault I had to wait, he even said he saw me in there. 3-5 minutes into the cut he asked if I wanted product. I was so confused, he hadn't done anything I wanted so I asked "are you done?" He said yes, so I repeated what I wanted, then he told me no, he wasn't going to do that and then continued doing what I didn't want for 15 more seconds, then asked how I wanted to pay. My hair is so uneven and is completely fucked up. It's so uneven and he missed parts of my hair... He also works at Scotch and Scissors apparently and tried to get me to go there and told me it'd be $65 there instead of $45 at Village 9. $65 for a 3 minute cut while getting accosted and told he wouldn't cut my hair like I asked? This man is a criminal. I really wish one of the nice ladies at Village 9 would've responded to my inquiry for a cut, they would've been head and shoulders above him.

I was left with a frumpy cut, and it wasn't what I asked for. That's when I met Felicia. She asked if I'd be ok with another cut and offered her services. I agreed. First, let me tell you how much I love that Felicia COMES TO YOU!! Especially with a toddler, it can sometimes be hard to get out of the house for some me time. Felicia makes it simple and comes to you with the salon; she even brings a complete hair washing station! The second time Felicia came to my home to tend to my hair, I told her that I wanted an extreme color - bright purple - but I wasn't sure how I wanted to implement. She suggested all over color and her signature cut - a short bob. Although I was nervous to be cutting of 10 inches or so, I trusted Felicia and agreed to her plan, and boy am I glad that I did! The owner responded right away even though it was after hours. If you park in the parking lot, you have to walk down the stairs and go to the left - they're right below the Mexican restaurant, and you will pass a few other places before you get to them. The salon itself has a very cool beachy and modern vibe. It's laid out nicely and very clean. I felt like even though I wasn't able to give Lauren a whole lot of direction during our consultation, she was really able to read between the lines and interpret what I was getting at. My thick hair looks super healthy and doesn't feel heavy anymore, and she didn't even use a razor to thin it out as most people want to. Lauren knows her stuff!! And my husband even noticed the difference in my hair - that's HUGE. I also love the variety of haircare lines they carry but not in an overwhelming way - as Lauren put it, they carry their favorites. I got the impression they take a lot of pride in what they present to their clients and are not there to oversell you on a ton of stuff you don't need, just what will work for you. You want full highlights? She's done 3 colors for me to give a natural look. THREE. And she hand paints my baby-fine hair in front without putting it in foil since its more delicate. The cut? Fantastic. She's fixed me up with a manageable, but modern cut. The fiance used to go next door to Roosters, and I convinced him to give Maddie a try since he'd complain after every cut. He continues to go to her...which is huge, because he hasn't been happy with any cut in years. To get to Waves, park at the top parking lot (near Walgreens) and take the stairs or elevator down to the street level. Waves is a small salon which I love, and only has a few chairs which is much more pleasant in my opinion. Waves doesn't have the long line of chairs and craziness going on. Its intimate and much more personal. I love Maddie, she does amazing work especially with color and is one of the best I've seen with my "problem" hair.

I had not been here in years so I thought I'd check their availability. Ashley was so nice. She listened to what I needed. The shampoo chairs are heaven. Ashley also did my wash. She's been here for years. She's very professional and honest. Pricing is very reasonable here. They also offer online booking. This time I booked my next appointment and was pretty confident that I could commit to that date and time.
