Sometime in the early 2000's, Teriyaki Boy started out as a relatively small restaurant that only offered rice bowls topped with a choice of Teriyaki Boy chicken, pork or beef. When I went away for college and came back to Manila after graduation, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Teriyaki Boy expanded their menu! They've come from a small rice bowl- serving restaurant to a full Japanese restaurant (not quite as authentic as those in Little Tokyo, but it will serve your Japanese craving when desperate and on a budget). Coming back, I'm glad the taste of their food stayed the same, which brings me back to the days I could eat two rice bowls (Katsudon and Gyudon, specifically) after a particularly heavy day of training. My current favorites include the Philly Cheese Steak Roll and their Tempura Tuna Tartare. Not a bad place to go to when you find yourself suddenly looking for a Japanese rice bowl. read more
