Even in photos, the lighting was incredibly flattering, which just added to the overall mood of the night. The food also felt worthy of the setting and the price. Everything looked carefully plated and well thought out, and the quality came through in both freshness and flavor. First time at Terra. We went for Father's Day. The restaurant decor is nice. Not my style as there's a tremendous amount of gold colour everywhere. We were given a table near a window and that was nice. The menu is a mix of different foods and cultures. It would be hard to peg one style or another. However, I can say that it's a smaller menu, so take a look before you go to ensure there's at least one dish everyone in your group can find something. That said, there are specials and they do change on occasion, so there could always be something there that you are unaware of. We ordered the Caesar salad and the Chili Crunch Slaw for an appetizer. The portions were a good size and can easily be shared between 2. Both were delish (5/5) and I would definitely recommend these for those who like salads. For the main dishes, we had 4 dishes, 3 on the regular menu and one from the specials. My wife ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto (5/5). My son ordered the Crackling Oven Roasted Chicken. The chicken was good but he didn't care for the mashed potatoes (4/5). My daughter ordered the 12oz Striploin steak. It's her go-to when she can't find anything else on the menu. Typically, stripolin steaks have the fat along the outer edge and it's easy to cut off. This striploin had fat throughout the steak, something she really doesn't like. So, 1/3 of the steak was "not good" and thrown away. I ordered the Bouillabaisse from the specials. No doubt a nice selection of seafood including octopus, squid, muscles, clams, shrimp, and a white fish. All was mediocre. There was very little sauce. The anise flavor was very pronounced, perhaps too much so. What brought this dish down was the white fish. It was "fishy" and tasted horrible! They brought a small platter with crackers, cheese, and nuts for dessert. Nice, but quite small for 4 people. It was have been enough for 2 though. My son got the flourless chocolate torte. It was good but it was "too chocolaty" and a little bitter. My daughter got the chocolate chip cookie. The cookie is made to order and takes 15-20 minutes. Be aware, it's small and really not a dessert to share. It was good and she enjoyed it. The lattes were really good but the sugar/sweetener came about 5 minutes after the coffees were delivered so the coffee was already getting cold. Be aware that this is a pricy restaurant. If everyone were to get their own appetizer, main course and dessert, you will easily be at $125-$150 per person with tax/tip. So, overall good food. Good enough to justify the cost???? I reserved a table online and wrote down my preferences in the comment section. The staff were able to follow all my prompts to celebrate my cousin's 40th birthday. All the staff were very welcoming and super attentive. The food was great, but you do have to wait at least 30 minutes for your entrees. The food all came out at the same time and my entire table enjoyed their dishes. The potato gnocchi was crunchy and soft in the middle. Amazing flavours. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We were all very full by the end of the meal. The only complaint I have is the menu prices. The prices in the menu do not match with our receipt and we realized this after we left. It's only a couple of dollars more, but as a fine dining experience, you want the prices to reflect correctly so you don't deceive the customers. We came early on a Saturday, and from arrival to departure, the service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. We received complementary bread, following which we went direct to mains of the 12 ounce sirloin and Arctic Char. The steak was well done to my wife's request, and the fish came with row and rappini. We also shared mushrooms and truffle fries, which were all finished. The prices were on the higher end, but when you got folks pulling up in Ferraris and ordering champagne, this is definitely worth a once in a while treat. For a perfect dining experience for both food and service, Terra is definitely the place! I've had this place on my list for awhile and finally made it here for dinner yesterday. It was so hard to decide on what to order as there were too many items that I wanted to try. It's probably not proper fine-dining etiquette to share dishes but we did it anyway with our starters. The 3 of us shared the beef carpaccio, grilled calamari and soup of day to start. Oh my goodness...all the dishes were delicious especially the beef carpaccio. Both my daughter and I devoured this dish and we both said that we are going to order our own next time! As for our main course, we really enjoyed all the dishes as well. My seafood spaghettiini was amazing and my daughter loved her Gnocchi dish. And my husband had the Branzino filet which was also perfectly done. This is my first fine dining experience ever and it was great! Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner and it was hard to find parking, they do offer free valet though. We didn't want to valet and had to park on top of this ramp at spots not reserved. For appetizers, we had some oysters (super fresh and tasty), foie gras and some calamari. I thought the appetizers were decent, nothing stood out expect for the oysters. For the main course, I went with the Branzino with side of mushrooms and mixed veggies. The Branzino was super flaky and the seasoning was spot on. I enjoyed it very much and the portion was decent for a place like this. For dessert, I got the creme brulee with a biscotti and once again delicious, but not outstanding for the price. What made this experience for me though was the amazing service! Consistently checked up with how we were doing and offered complimentary goat checking for us. The food which what we came for was great overall. We had ordered 3 main courses to share so that we can taste everything the pork chop was grilled to perfection I loved that it was all cut up a d made it easier for us to share. I have bookmarked this place for a while after seeing some good reviews on yelp. However, the service was not very good and food was mediocre and overpriced. It's a 2.5 stars rounded down to 2. We ordered the halibut and the beef cheek raviolo as main. The halibut had no flavour at all and was so dry. So did the side vegetable. It had a weird sweet taste. I had strong incentive throughout the meal to tell the chef that I would rather cook the fish myself. For the raviolo, the mushroom tasted yummy. However, the sauce was a bit too heavy with too much creams and spices applied. The minced beef cheek tasted a bit fishy. The portion of the dish was small for a small eater like me, not as was recommended by the waiter. Throughout the meal, we got almost no service. This hidden gem is located off Yonge Street at Kirk Street in Thornhill. The service and the food was exceptional. I had the seafood spaghettini. The shrimp were gigantic and perfectly charred. There also were muscles, squid and octopus with a beautifully cooked pasta. It is pleasant inside with windows across one wall and gold painted ceiling accents, white table cloths and wine racks decorating the same wall with the windows. It has a rather unusual entrance but once inside it is very classy and comfortable. There's a great little section in the back with just a few tables of varying sizes, perfect for more intimate meals and business meals. We tried several starters including octopus, tuna, and beef carpaccio - all were delicious. For entrees several of us tried the branzino and seafood pasta. The seafood was all quite fresh, though the branzino was on the saltier side. All in all great mix of flavors. Even the side of fries came out hot and delicious. We ordered a couple of seafood pasta entrees. It's not the typical red sauce pasta, but with a strong garlic oil taste. I LOVED it! The pasta was al dente and all the meats and oils balanced nicely. The lobster could have been fresher, however, as you can tell that the lobster had been dead before cooking based on the texture of the meat. Looking for a location during the Covid pandemic left my wife and I looking for a place that could take us to celebrate our anniversary on a Sunday. Finding a place alone in Toronto that is open on a Sunday can be difficult for sure on its own. Long story short, we landed and decided to try Terra for the first time. We weren't disappointed. The staff were courteous and friendly and the location was clean. Tables were well spaced and even made the setting more intimate which made the night even more special for us. I was tempted to do their Sunday-licious menu but decided to go a la carte instead. I ended up ordering their beet salad, lemon crusted halibut and creme brulee for dessert. The quality of the ingredients were great and were cooked well. The only critique I felt was that the food was under seasoned, it was one of the things missing that would have made this a 5 star review. The pricing is a little higher that what I'd expect for what we received in return but not crazy high. Is the experience worth it? Yes it absolutely is! They are taking the pandemic seriously and the end product and service shines through. Will definitely come back here again. Terra Restaurant is one of the fine dining restaurant located in Thornhill/ Richmond Hill area. It is my first time, and this won't be my last time. We started off with 6 PEI oysters, and ahi tuna. The size of the oysters are on the bigger size and very fresh. The ahi tuna is average, nothing too stand out, but the presentation is very nice and eye catching. Main courses are seafood panella, and mix seafood with tomato broth. Both main are in the bigger portion compare to most downtown restaurant with similar price. They are both flavorable and delicious. However, I find the tomato broth is a little salty and the grill seafood is a little bit over cooked. This restaurant has a warm and comfortable atmosphere with some decent vibe and good Italian food. I ordered an arugula salad with pear and walnut that was really good. This followed with a bowl of bucatini and chorizo sausage in a simple and delightful tomatoe sauce. I have to knock down the rating a touch since the pasta was barely warm. Considering the prices, type of restaurant this is and what it aims to be, it is a big faux pas. For dessert I had some lemon and raspberry sorbet. The food was absolutely delicious, oysters were amazing, prawn tacos were excellent, seafood was cooked to perfection, and my gnocchi... well, it was very tasty but served barely warm. The server offered to heat it, but it took really long time for them to prepare the food, so I was way too hungry to wait. Speaking of service, it was ok, but for the restaurant in this price range you can certainly expect better. Speaking of price range, the place is quite expensive, especially the wines. We paid over $60 for a bottle of wine and when we checked the price later on, it turned out that this wine is sold in LCBO for $19. I don't mind 100% overhead, but over 200% is a bit too much. Came here during valentines and it was very busy. My girlfriend and I looked at the menu online ahead of time and was very excited to get their pastas. We were kinda disappointed when we found out that we could only order from their special valentines menu (which has no pasta). The bread and butter were also very good. For our mains, she had the filet mignon and I had the halibut. The Angus beef filet was high quality beef and cooked well. We asked for medium, but it came a little more cooked than we liked. But nonetheless it tasted great. The halibut was also amazing. It was cooked extremely well. It was juicy and not tough at all. For dessert we had two scoops of chocolate ice cream with fresh fruit. Really good ice cream, really good fruit (raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, etc.). The final price was around $150. Although service was good, it was very slow. We were on a tight schedule since she had to go back to work (I took the day off). It took at least 15 minutes to bring out the dessert. She is a die heart fan of Caesar salad. We both agreed it got a little heavy. It was great when you take the first few bites but it got overwhelming soon after. It was a fair classic Caesar salad. To be fair, it is what it is...bacon and cream! Hand Picked Organic Lettuces - with toasted pine nuts, goat cheese and champagne vinaigrette (I requested blue cheese in place of goat cheese) To be completely honest, hand-picked organic lettuces sounded uninspiring. I can get organic lettuce from Sobey's or even Wal-mart. The server convinced me with table side romance. Apparently, a local farmer had bought over 20 different lettuce varieties into the kitchen. The executive head chef examined each type and selected an assorted mix of greens. This story could be completely fictitious for all I care...he was right! This was the best salad I have ever had. The salad denoted fresh. The lettuces was crisp with varying textures. The pine nuts added crunch. The blue cheese added an extra level of complexity without overpowering the "star" of the dish -- lettuces. There was a perfect balance of oil and acidity. This salad was a demonstration of maturity and restrain from the chef. Entrée: Cracking oven roasted 1/2 chicken - With garlic mashed potatoes, garlic fried rapinin and natural jus As a diligent foodie, I had googled every possible source to ensure I make an informed decision about my entrée prior to arriving at Terra. Yelp and Urbanspoon both had patrons raving about Terra's oven roasted chicken. Due to my Asian heritage, I tend to think about the cost of goods VS cost...for example, seafood as a raw ingredient costs more than chicken...generally I would have ordered the a seafood dish, an item with a higher perceived value. (Strange...I know....I blame my parents!) However, the pictures of free range chicken on Facebook had lead me to opt for chicken. (Yes! I even Facebook restaurants in advance!) The dish was faithful to the reviews online, it was delicious! The chicken was moist and tender. The jus was extremely flavorful. The aroma of garlic had really pull the dish together. Orchetti with Apple Wood Smoked Italian Sausage - Rapini, parmesan and tomato sauce My bestie ordered the orchetti as she had never had orchetti before. It was unfortunately dry and over salted. I suspect it was due to the high sodium content of the house-made sausage. It was as though we were licking salt. The orchetti was luke warm. It was lacking in acidity. She ended up finishing half my chicken instead. Our server concluded there was something wrong as the plate was practically untouched. He asked the kitchen to prepare a new dish for my friend with less sodium to take home. It was a good gesture. Dessert: Crème Brule As a lover of all crème brule, this a straight forward decision making process for me. It was an average crème brule. The biscotti was "meh"! We did not end up finishing it. Warm Flourless Chocolate Torte The chocolate torte my bestie ordered was "different". While it was not a bad dessert, it was not a typical torte. I felt like the density of the torte was off. If Terra had given the "torte" another name, it would been better. I was expecting a torte and had received a semi-fluffy cake of some sort. The cookie was crisp and nutty. It was a little too sweet. The acidity of the chocolate was not strong. Overall, it was slightly one dimensional. We did not finish this dessert either. As usual, I had a great time with my bestie at Terra Restaurant! I came here with a date and it was really nice. We visited the restaurant on a weeknight so it wasn't too busy. I hear it gets really busy on the weekend; I would highly recommend you make a reservation if you plan to go then. Our waiter was very attentive. He kept refilling our water glasses very efficiently (normally I have to flag down the waiter at least once; here my glass was always full) and he helped me choose a gluten and lactose free entrée, which was really good. The ambiance was really nice and the perfect setting for a date. I had the salmon entree and my friend had the veal. He said his dish was really good. Pros: - The service was great! - I really liked the ambiance - It wasn't too loud so we could really get to know each other (it might be different on the weekend) - The tea list is incredible!!! So let's talk about the tea list. You know how at most restaurants they offer you a variety of 5/6 teas max?? Well, at Terra they had a list a mile long. They had oolong teas, tons of herbal teas, different rooibos teas and much more. As a tea lover, I was really impressed! I tried the pear cinnamon tea and it was delicious! My friend had a black tea and he really enjoyed it. I also like how the black tea came out in an iron tea pot. My herbal tea came out in a metal tea press. Both were presented well and our waiter refilled our tea pots once we finished our first round of tea. I would definitely go back to Terra. It was a really pleasant experience. read more

My experience at Terra starts with a bang! That "bang" is Jenny, both hostess and waitress. With a great deal of confidence and courtesy, Jenny greeted us, asked where we wanted to sit then suggested (almost at the same time as I started thinking) an alternate table for two away from a draft on a cold day at the front door. The table setting is refined with a crisp table cloths, clean cutlery and glasses and comfortable chairs. There is a variety of seating options and getting their early for lunch or dinner will allow you more choices. However Terra is a favorite of many regulars in the area and I suspect many tables are reserved for their best guests. They also have a private dining area for larger groups. The food is excellent and not cheap. Paying $13 for a tomato soup may seem excessive however when a very hot plate arrives with some crumbled goat cheese and basil and the waitress pours the steaming hot heirloom soup from a small tea pot you realize that it is worth every dollar. The Heirloom Tomato soup was excellent! I would have given Terra 5 stars however they forgot my dessert. How a restaurant forgets a dessert with a largely cleared out lunch crowd at 2:15pm is hard to understand. Perhaps they were busy getting ready for dinner. Or maybe someone was telling me I didn't need dessert. It's good that Symposium Cafe is just a few doors south with great cheesecake. In order to enjoy Terra, you have to forget about the prices. Yes they are a "tad" high, but given the other choices in the immediate area, and the quality of the service, I believe the prices are not excessive.
