Years ago, I worked at a seniors home in downtown Toronto. It was one of my favourite jobs ever, mostly because of the people I worked with - my coworkers, my friends. It was a great group and we have managed to keep in touch. A small group of us recently met for dinner at Moxies, Fairview Mall. It was great seeing everyone over a good meal, just like old times. I had the Short Rib Beef Dip and most others had the Chicken Madeira Rigatoni, or Chicken Alfredo. My meal was pretty good, although a bit messy to eat. I've travelled for work quite a bit coast to coast in Canada. This restaurant is VERY clean, the ambience is nice and it is calm and quiet. Great for sharing conversations. That I REALLY appreciated. The food was first rate. My associate tells me her steak was cooked exactly as she liked it as was my fish. It was delicious. Portions where exactly what I expected for a hunger guy. Had a late night happy hour dinner and the place was busier than I thought. Food from the happy hour menu was reasonably priced, which explains why groups content to arrive past 10pm. The food itself was delicious. The fried calamari was crispy but not drowning in oil. The steak was cooked to perfect medium rare and frites was crunchy. Again, not swimming in the oil fryer. I've been here a few times to have lunch with my Mom, i found the atmosphere a little dull, the resto was a bit dark. the staff was friendly and the food was decent, i don't think it was "amazing" just pretty good, you get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing elevated, just decent food, decently prepared. i can't write much else because it really wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It was a late gathering after a concert so I only ordered happy hour appetizer dry ribs with salt and pepper. I would like to have Canadian as beer but they didn't have those, instead they have custom made lager, said it tastes like Stella so I ordered it. It's okay, but not cold enough. The dry ribs were pretty juicy. I asked for Sriracha sauce as I prefer spicy. I believe we have at least 10 people so we sat at the big space beside the bar. I like it's spacious, there are also lots of booths if you have a smaller party. If you are hungry I recommend the chicken rigatoni, it's one of their signature dishes which I loved. I visited this location inside Fairview Mall. There's an exterior and mall entrance. The menu is diverse and a very good selection of vegatarian and plant based offerings. I ordered one of Moxies signature dishes. Chicken Madeira Rigatoni The pasta was cooked just right and served with a mushroom madeira sauce. There's a nice big shaved piece of parmesan cheese and toasted garlic baguette. The dish was delicious, and I devoured the pasta. The only critique I would say is that I wish there was more madeira sauce, and the dish should have been served hot. My wife enjoyed the tiny tuna poke tacos. There's a generous seving of tuna and guacamole. The wonton shells were crispy, and there's a sesame soy dipping sauce if you like saltiness to your tuna. The other dishes look good, but I can't comment on the taste. The server was pretty polite and patient with us. She offered a suggestion for a nachos appetizer to share with my family. Although we didn't go with the suggestion, we appreciate the efforts made to enjoy our visit. The restaurant also has a dog friendly patio weather permitting. Definitely the better Moxies I've been to. The Rigatoni I usually order they got it perfectly (extra well done on the pasta) and sauce on the side. We got the roasted tomatoes appetizer which was delicious. The blackened Mahi Mahi my friend got was good too. She enjoyed it albeit the fish size was not as big as the photo on the menu. We were served by Brandon, he was phenomenal, such great service and you can feel his genuine kindness even at the other tables he served. This time they didn't pour the caramel on the toffee cake, but the ice cream was a bit melted when it came out. I would come here again. read more

I used to really like Moxies. I met a friend here for lunch before my appointment at a place nearby. I ordered the Tuna Sushi Stack & my friend has the soup & salad meal. Our server was okay, he got our orders quick & he was friendly. But once our meals came he seemed to forget about us until we flagged him down. The Tuna Sushi Stack was okay. It's pretty ordinary. Tuna & Avocado arranged in a stack with some rice chips. The sauce at the bottom was way too salty for me so I didn't eat much of it. I ordered a dessert after lunch: A bite of brownie. I'd let him know that I'm intolerant of dairy when I first ordered. I was waiting, waiting & waiting for my dessert & it didn't come so I asked him about it. I think he forgot I ordered dessert. The dessert finally came & on the side was the ice cream & whipped cream. Duh! I asked my friend if she wanted the ice cream since I couldn't eat it anyway. The decor of this place is pretty dark. The lighting is dark too. At lunch time it felt like we were going for dinner, that's how dark the restaurant was. When we stepped out of the restaurant I felt like my eyes had to adjust as it was so sunny & bright in the mall. I don't think I would eat here again. To eat, I got fries and and tofu lettuce wraps. The fries were completely cold. The lettuce wraps were a big serving. It was good flavour and the appropriate temperature. I would go back just for the service. As for the food, a beer, side of fries, the tofu lettuce wrap appetizer, and tax with an appropriate tip was just under $50. I found it very expensive for the quality of food it is and that's why my score is so low. It's my fault for thinking it was a good place to watch a game. My daughters wanted to come here to try the ramen as one acclaimed "one of the best ramens I ever had" and even sent me a picture of the empty bowl - a feat that a few restaurants ever managed to do for my picky kid. However, once seated, they were met with disappointed by the apologetic waitress who informed them that it was being taken off the menu so the establishment can limit their items. It was completely understandable. As an alternative, they ordered ribs and pizza. I, myself, ordered steak done to rare. Everything was perfect and definitely no complaints from my kids. After the meal, one of the managers, who I wished I got his name to thank him, offered to surprise my kids a "volcano ice cream" at no additional cost. It's Sunday evening, there's a Raptors game on and St. Louis is packed. We find our way here and there's lots of seating in the lounge where multiple TVs are playing the Raptors and Leafs games. Service was good. The waitress checked in a few times to make sure everything was okay and that we didn't need anything else. It did take a little while to get the bill but another server noticed and offered to get it for us. The only odd thing is that if you enter the restaurant from the exterior entrance (from the parking lot) you have to walk through the restaurant to the entrance from the mall to be seated. We ordered appetizers to share and they're brought out fairly quickly. The fresh smashed guacamole is really fresh. They bring it to the table in a mortar with a pestle and the server starts you off with the mashing then avocado and then leaves the rest up to you. FYI there's about 10 wings in the chicken wings appetizer. They were fried just right and dressed in honey garlic sauce. read more

Went here for a team lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We were seated in the bar area on high tops. Our server Sara was kind & attentive. I haven't been to Moxie's in a long time so wasn't sure what to eat. A colleague recommended the steak salad so that's what I got w/the steak done medium rare. Oh my goodness, it was sooooo good! My steak was a perfect medium rare & it was seasoned well. The spicy vinaigrette was to die for (I need this in my life) & the 3 pieces of goat cheese crostinis were such a nice add on. I also got to taste a bit of their cashew chicken lettuce wrap appetizer & enjoyed it as well. I honestly really enjoyed this meal. Location/Service The restaurant is within Fairview Mall, near the Bay Area. There's an outdoor and indoor entrance for convenience. Pretty big restaurant with bar and dining seating. Also made sure smaller details were met. Food Had a steak salad, medium rare. This was a big portion. The steak was done to the right level, which was still juicy and soft to chew. The salad itself was pretty regular (tomatoes, lettuce and onions), but it complimented well with the steak and the cheese and bread. The bread was soft, which I find it more enjoyable. They have a late night special after 9pm, with cheap beer and appetizers. The appetizers were all pretty good, satisfying and worth it for the discounted price. At Vaughan and Yorkdale, the nachos are oozing with a couple layers of cheese. In fact, there's usually so much cheese that you get a layer of caramelized cheese near the edges. This was a random visit as my friend really wanted to enjoy a meal at a patio nearby. We noticed they had expanded their patio(?) and tables were nicely spaced out with the option of tall chairs/tables vs regular. There was COVID-19 screening done: the server took down contact info for one person of the group and we were seated immediately. I ordered a steak frites and my friend ordered a beef dip and a margarita with jalapeño. Due to my bad luck with steak, I asked for rare instead of medium rare. I'm glad I did because mine was served more like medium rare. The fries were pretty good, and chimichurri sauce was amazing, it made everything so tasty. I'm glad the staff had masks on the whole time. Because it was getting cold, there were a couple of patrons who requested to move inside to eat, and the servers were very accommodating. They politely asked all guests to have their masks on before they were led inside, including the kids. The food arrived sometime later. while the first couple of bites of his burger was good, the second half of the burger was very burnt and tasted bad. It tasted full of charcoal and could not be consumed (see photos). This is an updated review, Jamie was kind enough to invite us back, going through the same entrance, now there's a sign asking you to go to the front, which isn't convenient at all but it's definitely something that needs to be fixed or that entrance should be closed off completely if Moxies doesn't want to hire staff for both entrances. Being seated, we were greeted by Jamie (management) and waited on by the same waitress as last time. Unfortunately, when given my drink, the glass was dirty and I was kind of disgusted by that. Also, my girlfriend had a bone that was in her chicken tacos which another manager told us was an accident on their part and if there's anything they can do to make up for it, but considering we were there to give the restaurant another shot... it didn't look good on their part. Service was mediocre but Jamie personally brought our food and tried to make sure it was a good experience. I'm just guessing it just missed the mark. As someone who worked in the food industry when I was younger, there are quite a few things I would change but that also depends on how much control management has over a chain restaurant. This review is based on 1 lunch experience. Don't let the "chained restaurant" image mislead you, this is a posh restaurant. The food we got looked pretty. My steak salad tasted heavenly: tender steak slices that were seared medium rare, as prescribed, on top of fresh spring green, mixed with the right amount of salad dressing. Excellent cheese! Two servers waited us. They were polite, effective and eloquent. The interior decor was classy and contemporary. The lighting was dim even at lunchtime. One could definitely impress a date here. The menu listed the calories information in detail, which I much appreciated. The pricing was around middle high end in my book. It was around $15 to $25+ for lunch, excluding wine, before tax and tip. I found it fair for the overall offering. I came here with a friend and we sat in the bar section so we could dine on a meal and enjoy watching the Raptors Game (We won!) and it was a really good experience. We ordered the guacamole and chips shareable and it was significantly smaller than we imagined it would be. My friend then ordered the steak entrée and I ordered the gluten free fish tacos. The fish tacos were delicious! They had a radish salsa on top and were very flavourful. It was also really cool that I was able to order fish tacos at a restaurant. Usually, the fish is fried and contains gluten but this dish was gluten free and really good. I appreciate the waitress suggesting it to me. My friend also really enjoyed his steak dinner. We looked at the dessert menu but weren't able to order anything as none of the desserts were both gluten and dairy free. Then we walked to the other entrance (located in the inside of the mall) and again...no one was there. We were finally able to find a waiter and asked to be seated. Shouldn't have had to go through so much trouble to be seated, especially when it wasn't even that busy. We went on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered the mosaic dip to start. First time ordering it. I must say it was very good. The dip had goat cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes in it. It came with warm naan bread and corn chips. Would definitely recommend trying this starter. For my main, I ordered the alfredo chicken pasta. It was okay not the best but it wasn't bad either. I tried some of the veggie bowl my mom ordered. It had tofu, salad, eggs, corn chips and avocado in it. Again it was okay. My parents are vegetarian. There wasn't a lot for them to choose from. After we ordered the waiter didn't come back frequently to make sure everything was okay or if we needed anything else. When we wanted to pay again had a hard time finding our waiter.
