 bowl of pasta and bread

I've been going to hbh for years, this was my first time at LBH we got invited for a party. We weren't welcomed with the warmest greeting, the hostess looked like she was over it and had zero patience, couldn't even wait for me to pull out my vaccine passport, rushed us to our table. The server however was really nice, so patient with the big party that we had and she was so attentive. Food was good, I loved the pasta.

We have tried to visit Lil' Brew Hops multiple times and they always closed. They have different hours for winter and summer and whatever. So make sure to check their latest opening hours on Facebook or just call to confirm! Drop by on a sunny early autumn afternoon and finally got to try this place out! It was the last week they opened for lunch. We arrived at the in between time with limited menu offerings. Ended up just ordering cocktails and some shucked oysters! Darkhorse of Main Street ($13) darkhorse rye, madeira, campari, lime juice, ginger jalapeño simple syrup, pear bitters Green with Envy ($13) pisco, simple syrup, kiwi purée, lime juice Cocktails were delicious! Since there are not too many good cocktail bars in the area, worth coming if you want some well crafted drinks! Oysters was tasty but at $3+ per oysters! I suggest come on Tuesdays for their Shuck-a-Buck with an order of cocktail! Will be back to try out other cooked food Lil' Brew Hops offers. And of course, will be ordering some cocktails again!

We were walking along Main Street Newmarket and discovered this restaurant. It looked like it's going to be great just by looking at it. Sometimes you can judge restaurant by just looking at the place. We usually judge by looking at how many people are in the place. We were disappointed, we were disappointed by the fact that without reservation we could only sit at the "Oyster Bar" table in the little corner. We got to watch this guy prying open oysters all night long. First of all, lots of local beer selection. I love products from Great Lake Brewery, so if you're up for an IPA, you're in good hands. The food is good but it's not something that I would give 5 start rating on. The steak was cook to perfection but it felt a little mushy. We did order the fresh oyster and ya they're fresh. The guy opens and smells every oyster to make sure it's fresh. The squid dish was really good, very tender and the sauce was really good, I had the dish pretty clean since the sauce was so good. Definitely would come back!

Read my review-this is the tuna poke. Black stuff is raw tuna. And the red underneath is the watermelon. Raw tuna is not BLACK! It's rotten.

Went here a couple nights ago with a girlfriend to try it out. Everything was pretty good, friendly waiters, good atmosphere. Made a mistake and ordered the tuna poke. The tuna was came out and it was black. My friend and I were confused. We eat tuna poke all the time and know that raw tuna should look red. We thought maybe it was a dressing of some sort and took a bite anyway. The tuna was completely rotten. We returned it and the waiter let the chef try it too and even the chef confirmed that the tuna was way too oxidated. Seriously a concern if the chef is serving raw tuna and don't know how raw tuna looks (we took a pic to prove). Anyway, my friend got sick the next day. Don't get the tuna poke. Everything else tasted alright.

Best Manhattan I've had made with bourbon. Even comes with a giant ice cube and fancier cherry.

We've always loved Hungry Brew Hops next door, so we were excited about this new spot opening and we were not disappointed! Just like at HBH, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they serve - with a great attitude to match. I started with a Manhattan and was delighted with the bourbon they used to make it. The four of us at the table had already eaten dinner earlier at home, but we couldn't resist sharing some of the menu items including: sea bream ceviche, chicken liver pâté, ricotta-stuffed gnocchi, pork belly, clams, and potato bread. Each dish was an experience. It is obvious that a lot of care and preparation goes into everything, so don't expect pub food. Expect everything to be high quality and carefully thought out from the food to the wine and liquors.

So f***ing good! Drinks are amazing, the bar manager is SO talented. Wait staff are always so friendly and knowledgable. Food is always delicious!!! I find this place has an upscale and classy atmosphere, but without the snoody staff to go with it :)

I'd been excited to try this new location in Guelph for awhile now. I'm a cocktail lover + gin…read morelover. Based on their Instagram they'd worked out early opening kinks and were displaying some really cool cocktails. We arrived on a Friday night in August around 8pm. Seating upstairs in the restaurant was pretty full but there were one or two tables. We were a group of 5 and the hostess at the door seems VERY flustered. We later agreed that she must have been very new. She sat us in front of their front window (garage door style) that was open. It was a chilly night - like maybe 16 by this point. We asked if she could close the door. She said she would check. 5 minutes later, nothing. She cane back with waters and 1/2 the glasses were dirty. Then a waitress came over and we asked if we wanted drinks but we had not been given menus by hostess...ha so we asked for those. We then again if she could close the garage door and she said no. So we asked if we could be moved somewhere else. We were moved to a table meant for 4 but at least we were warm! We ordered drinks and they arrived very quickly- I was surprised at how quick. We ordered meals too...however, these took over and hour to come out. So that wasn't great- and what we ordered were not complicated (burger, charcuterie, fries...). I tried the Brussels which were just okay - the batter on them was weird. The charcuterie board at $22 was kind of boring g and lacked variety. Then our waiter once it was bill time disappeared. So we flagged down the hostess and she said she would get the machine and out bills....well that never happened. So another waitress walked by and we snagged her and settled up. We decided to head down to the speakeasy to check that out. It was much better. Everything was cheaper (cash only) and it was like chilling in a big basement with lots of old overstuffed couches. It was full when we first went down at 10:30 but within 15 it was nearly empty. Very chill and a good winter hangout. Two tips : cash only and the password changes weekly and is on their Instagram (however we were not asked for it)

I really like this place. I have been there 3 times with great food and great service every time…read more I've had the ribs and the fish and chips both of which were better than anywhere else in Guelph. My daughter loves their burgers which are made from beef they grind themselves, so you can have it cooked to whichever doneness you want, even rare. I want to give them particular kudos for my visit last night when I showed up at about 9:15 and told them that about 9 of my friends would be joining me. They quickly put some tables together and got me a drink. When my friends started arriving it turned out that there were more like 20 of us. They added more tables and quickly got drinks going. The food took as long as you would expect for a table of 20, not a moment longer. Everyone's food came out at the same time, hot and delicious. I had the grilled halibut which was super fresh and beautifully prepared. Everyone in our party commented positively on the dishes they ordered. That must be an incredibly well-run kitchen. Thanks Gin Mill for a lovely after-event evening. One suggestion: an espresso machine or at least coffee and tea.

I would go back again in a heartbeat. This was one of the best meals and experiences of the year…read more The shaved prime rib steak with the dipping au jus plus French onion soup as an appetizer... this was phenomenal. Every aspect from the sauce to the baguette to the meat was so tasty. I also recommend getting the garlic aoli for the fries. The drinks were very well done and unique in flavor as well, in particular I tried to the midnight show which was like a raspberry espresso martini. It was fantastic. The ambiance of the place is spectacular as well with a cool, library naturally, vibe. The servers were also great and helped accommodate my date who is gluten free, and her baguette replacement was the best that she'd ever had of a gluten free option. All in all top tier experience start to finish.

It hosted royalty, heads of state, and golden-age Hollywood legends like Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock when they were in town filming or staying upstairs in the hotel. Stepping inside is like time-traveling back decades, with velvet seating, brass accents, and dark, moody lighting. As soon as you walk into the Library Bar, the real centerpiece that grabs your attention is the massive oil portrait above the fireplace. That dignified gentleman watching you sip your drink is George Locke, the very first chief librarian of the Toronto Public Library. I love that a librarian is the patron saint of this bar! The drinks here aren't just cocktails; they're chapters in a story. The current menu, titled "Ink & Alchemy," is actually inspired by Michael Ondaatje's famous novel In the Skin of a Lion. Created by their award-winning mixologist James Grant, the menu is a tribute to the people who built this city: the immigrants, bridge-builders, thieves, and dreamers. You aren't just sipping a martini; you're drinking a liquid homage to Toronto's history.

We recently celebrated a family birthday at fishbone for lunch and it was a great experience from…read moreservice to food. The restaurant is brightly lit with lots of natural sunlight, the decor is a mix of elegance and rustic at the same time. It's got an open and inviting feel. Our server was fantastic - very patient with a large group like ours, able to tell us right off the bat what is and is not customizable, recommendations of when to order to ensure flow works out. Food: Charbroiled octopus - one of my favorite dishes I tried - perfectly cooked, has a nice char, good meaty bits but not chewy, has a really nice chili oil on it. I can not stress how much I recommend getting this if you enjoy seafood. 5/5. Chorizo appetizer - comes out in a little pig plate with an open flame underneath. The chorizo itself is good with a nice spice, dense meat. The best part of this dish (IMO) is the spiced apple sauce on the side that cuts the richness of the sausage with a sweet and tangy apple and a little spice kick. 4.5/5. Bread - fresh baked bread with butter, a pumpkin jam and cheese. Everything on that plate works so well together. I definitely recommend this as an all rounding pleasing appetizer - 5/5. Beets - the beets were fresh with a vibrant orange colour. The apple, walnut and goat cheese all work together. I do wish this dish had a bit more but it works. 4.5/5. Brussel sprouts - amazing deep fried brussel sprouts - makes me want to always deep fry them for life. The spicy harissa sauce works well with the sprouts. Crunchy peanuts on top add both a texture and nuttiness that is refreshing to the brussel sprouts. 5/5. Oysters - super fresh, absolutely delicious without any condiments needed. Loved them. 5/5. Paella - this is definitely large enough for 2 people to eat so consider sharing unless you have a monster appetite. As with all their plates, it is beautifully constructed. The shrimp are huge and meaty. Mussels are plentiful, lots of chorizo and bay scallops. The rice has that really nice briny seafood flavor from the broth. It was just a teeny tiny bit overly salty to my taste but it's cut with the dollops of sour cream. Has this really nice low level heat that just works without burning your mouth. 4.5/5. Lamb sirloin - great crust on the lamb and cook as well. Flavorful sear and crust on the lamb with a soft tender meaty interior. Can't go wrong with- 5/5. Branzino - delicious flaky and light with a great grill. If you're interested in a fresh fish, this is a good choice. Was a special on the menu - 5/5. Prices: Fine dining pricing but you get the excellent food, service and experience for the price.
