Fishbone Aurora was so good that my family made a reservation to come right after I finished my business meeting--it was that impressive! Everything from the food to the service exceeded our expectations. We started with the oysters, crudo, charred avocado, charbroiled Moroccan octopus, hot pull-and-tear bread, and the deep-fried Brussels sprouts. Every dish was packed with incredible flavour, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing. For our entrées, we had the Branzino and the Dukkah Roasted Lamb Sirloin with yam chips, and both were cooked to perfection. To complement our meal, we enjoyed two bottles of Bojador wine, which paired beautifully with our entrées and elevated the entire dining experience. We couldn't leave without dessert. The Portuguese tarts served with gelato were absolutely delicious--warm, flaky, and the perfect balance of sweetness. We also had the crème brûlée, which had a perfectly crisp caramelized top with a rich, creamy custard underneath. It was the perfect way to end an incredible meal. A huge thank you to Sarah and Jeff, who made both visits so memorable. They were warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made us feel like valued guests. Their exceptional service was just as impressive as the food. It's rare to leave a restaurant and immediately want to come back the very same day, but Fishbone Aurora absolutely earned it. We recently celebrated a family birthday at fishbone for lunch and it was a great experience from service to food. The restaurant is brightly lit with lots of natural sunlight, the decor is a mix of elegance and rustic at the same time. It's got an open and inviting feel. Our server was fantastic - very patient with a large group like ours, able to tell us right off the bat what is and is not customizable, recommendations of when to order to ensure flow works out. Food: Charbroiled octopus - one of my favorite dishes I tried - perfectly cooked, has a nice char, good meaty bits but not chewy, has a really nice chili oil on it. I can not stress how much I recommend getting this if you enjoy seafood. 5/5. Chorizo appetizer - comes out in a little pig plate with an open flame underneath. The chorizo itself is good with a nice spice, dense meat. The best part of this dish (IMO) is the spiced apple sauce on the side that cuts the richness of the sausage with a sweet and tangy apple and a little spice kick. 4.5/5. Bread - fresh baked bread with butter, a pumpkin jam and cheese. Everything on that plate works so well together. I definitely recommend this as an all rounding pleasing appetizer - 5/5. Beets - the beets were fresh with a vibrant orange colour. The apple, walnut and goat cheese all work together. I do wish this dish had a bit more but it works. 4.5/5. Brussel sprouts - amazing deep fried brussel sprouts - makes me want to always deep fry them for life. The spicy harissa sauce works well with the sprouts. Crunchy peanuts on top add both a texture and nuttiness that is refreshing to the brussel sprouts. 5/5. Oysters - super fresh, absolutely delicious without any condiments needed. Loved them. 5/5. Paella - this is definitely large enough for 2 people to eat so consider sharing unless you have a monster appetite. As with all their plates, it is beautifully constructed. The shrimp are huge and meaty. Mussels are plentiful, lots of chorizo and bay scallops. The rice has that really nice briny seafood flavor from the broth. It was just a teeny tiny bit overly salty to my taste but it's cut with the dollops of sour cream. Has this really nice low level heat that just works without burning your mouth. 4.5/5. Lamb sirloin - great crust on the lamb and cook as well. Flavorful sear and crust on the lamb with a soft tender meaty interior. Can't go wrong with- 5/5. Branzino - delicious flaky and light with a great grill. If you're interested in a fresh fish, this is a good choice. Was a special on the menu - 5/5. We came here for our anniversary dinner and had a very enjoyable meal. Fishbone offers a Mediterranean menu with bold vibrant flavours. We started the meal with peach with baratta salad which was so refreshing. Next we got the grilled octopus which was nicely charred but I have to say the amount of octopus is pretty small for a dish that's almost $30. When I saw paella on the menu, I knew I had to get it. It was topped with seafood including 2 giant prawns, clams, mussels and sausages. The rice was cooked perfectly with bold flavours. However I felt that the seafood was slightly undercooked. We told our server and he asked the kitchen to cook us new shrimps right away. I would def recommend sharing this entree as the portion is enough for 2. We finished our meal with an affogato, which is no longer on the menu but our waiter kindly let us order. We loved the decor and vibe at this restaurant! It is Saturday and we arrived at 5pm, door open time in the afternoon. But we were told it was fully booked except patio seating. It was pretty hot outside like 30+ degree. We drove 30 mins to come here, so did't have other choices. The service is top notch, our waiter is very friendly and we had some small talks. The music inside the store gives a happy and vibrant feel. Love the atmosphere. We ordered pull and tear bread with truffle butter $12 , it is actually my favorite dish of the day. The bread was made to order, very hot and fresh, so yummy to go with truffle butter. We also ordered the Flaming Pig $18, it was interesting fish with flaming fire on sausage, the sweet and sour apple has a little bit spicy kick. The ambiance is definitely good! Like usual, I always have an issue with the limited selection of entrees. I wish there was more choice on the menu. This time we were surprised by the food-unfortunately the surprise was not a pleasant one. In fact, half of our party did not enjoy their entrees which was a disappointment. The good: all of our appetizer's were good with special mention to the brussel sprouts. Whole fish and octopus were good. The bad: the Arroz a Valenciana was not good at all-the chef went totally crazy with the spice! It was so spicy hot we could not eat it-dripping on sweat. Three of us took a gamble and ordered steak (because of limited menu choices) - the steak was burnt on the outside on all three of them and they were all overcooked! Medium rare were medium well and well done! Not good. Service for the most part was decent. We were not pleased not was done when we mentioned the issue. Beautiful but small venue. Amazing service. Food was all delicious. We especially liked the deep fried eggplant with harissa mayo sauce. It was cripsy. The bread app was just ok. The spread tasted like philidepha salmon cream cheese, so I found this dish a bit exp and nothing special. The paella had lots of protein and very flavourful The shrimp and scallop pasta was everyone's favourite. Sauce was very creamy and luxurious. Again, very generous amount of protein too. Unless you are a light eater or coming here to sample a snack, I would reccomend at least 1 entree and 1 app per person. I also got the gobble gobble cocktail. Let's start with some very positive notes. The staff is fantastic! Everyone we talked to was friendly and helpful. Service was attentive and well above average. The decor is modern, clean lines and attractively lit, it's a very nice space. The wine list was OK and featured a few tasty Portuguese selections most of which were under $100. The food was all nicely seasoned and appropriate for the genre. Sigh, more on the food..: The starter Brussel sprouts were by far the best item we sampled. The prep on the octopus was great but unfortunately tasted fishy, not what I'm looking for in that dish. The mussels and clams were worse, again anther good prep but fishy. Finally I ordered the pasta with shrimp and "scallops" that was decent although the shrimp was under cooked and the scallops were eraser sized tasteless rubber pellets. A normally great restaurant and was our go to for whole roasted fish but recently we have been told the whole fish option is not available anymore. It has been replaced with a butterflied filet. Not a favourite of my wife or mine. We prefer the simple whole fish roasted and seasoned as they have been doing in the past. Please bring it back. What kind of a fish place doesn't do a whole fish. We came for as a small group from work for lunch at Fishbone. This is a very eloquent, clean space with lovely decor and bristling atmosphere. As other reviews touch upon, fro. The host to the waitstaff, everyone was pleasant and attentive. If you sip your water, you will have a torso fill your line of sight in order for the glass to he filled. Perhaps a taller glass in order to reduce that frequency. But I get it. So be prepared to check the pricing or face bewilderment. Lunch portion options are limited, so you are in the $22 to $29 for a main. So I opted for the flank steak, which was a sizable portion. It was served medium with fingerling sweet potatoes and a nice flavorful sauce. Compared with the same price for a similar steak at the keg, the value seemed a bit off. The other guest enjoyed there linguini and shrimp dish, which was served in a cream based sauce. So keep in mind you do not get complementary bread, however you have dutiful servers who keep the water flowing in short glasses. The draft beer was lovely, with a Muskoka IPA for about $9.50. The desert of chocolate mouse looked lovely, and the coffee was terrific. This was my first time coming to this place. Very clean, cool set up with excellent and amiable service from entry to departure. I ordered the Portuguese paella based on a recommendation and was told the portion was very big. As a result I did not order an appetizer. But, we did order a nice bottle of red Portuguese wine which paired very well. The paella was simply delicious. It had a large amount of mussels, shrimp, octopus, chorizo, lobster bisque and peas. All of which was mingled with rice that was seasoned with saffron and smoked paprika. Amazing dish! It was so plentiful that dessert was not possible. We had PEI Mussels, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Beets salad. The presentation was nice, ingredient was fresh and food was nicely done. Main course - Charred Whole Baby Moroccan Octopus - the octopus had a very nice charred aroma and was very tender. It sat on a generous portion of lentils and it was pretty filling. Recommend. Shrimp & Crab Linguine - the seafood was generous and sauce was very creamy, but I wish linguine could be more al dente. Arroz A Valenciana (Paella) - not authentic paella, but the taste and presentation was good. Recommend. The Uncommon Burger - lamb and beef patty was very juicy. Desserts - Lemon tart - the crust was moist and the lemon filling flavour is well-balanced. Poached pear - the presentation was beautiful, but the pear itself is lacking sweetness. Perfect. Ambiance and reception was warm and great start. Appetizers, clams and mussels and warm olives to get us going. Then we moved in to our mains the paella and the halibut in cream sauce. Cooked perfectly and such balanced flavours. Finished w cappuccinos and olive oil cake. This is evenings meal was supposed to be a treat and a quest for well prepared seafood and we felt what we ordered hit the nail on the head. We will return. Menu changes every so often but it seems the chefs know how to handles and treat good ingredients! The halibut with cream and dill was superb. The paella is very enjoyable. Came here for a date night due to fairly good reviews. My first impression was that the venue was cozy. It was busy during dinner time so I would recommend making a reservation well ahead of time. The prices are on the higher side but the quality of the food makes up for it. One thing I would say though is that if you're looking for a place to have a meaningful conversation, this might not be for you. The tables are close together and it can get rather loud. Food is fresh, good flavors and many people in facebook group have also said good things about this place. Went to this place before pandemic and also again yesterday. The food quality are both excellent. This time , I got the take out and eat in the car. I gotta say their special for the fish is VERY GOOD. Very tender and juicy and flakey! The kitchen did a really good job in grilling the fish so in my opinion, it's well worth the money. The price for this dish is market price from the menu and this time it cost me $36 plus tax. Not cheap but worth it. I would recommend eat this fish as soon as you get it if you r eating take out. I just setup the table in my car and eat it immediately when the fish is still very hot. :) We ordered the pei mussels also. The sauce from the mussel is very tasty and flavourful with a little bit of heat and goes so well with the bread included. The downside is too bad the mussels "meat" are so small this time... the mussel "meat" are all less than half the size of its own shell. :( The fish is definitely a must try in my opinion and I definitely would come back for the fish. But of course, if u r a big eater, the fish probably won't be enough to fill u up and u may need to order other dish to fill u up. :) read more

I love having fine dining so nearby with good service, delicious food and great ambiance. The dessert was to die for! For the entree, we ordered the seafood paella and iron flat steak. For dessert, we had the Lindt chocolate mousse. Everything was exquisite, even the bread and spread was incredible. Seafood paella (my favourite dish!) - cooked to perfection and extremely flavourful. The seafood was so fresh and I didn't want the dish to end. In fact, I wish they had bigger portions. Iron flat steak - steak was okay, but I don't think I would order beef next time and stick to any seafood dish. Lindt chocolate mousse - topped with a drizzle of olive oil, sea salt and hazelnut definitely gave this dessert a kick! Indulging in it from the beginning was so so good. Unfortunately near the middle to the end it was disappointing because there was only chocolate mousse. Just wished there was at least hazelnut throughout the mousse so it won't be so boring and bland. Overall, a must visit, we definitely be going back soon! read more

I'm so happy a friend recommended this restaurant and that they've managed to stay open for take-out despite the lockdown. Even if it was take-out, the food was fantastic when we ate at home. Admittedly, I was thrown off by the strip plaza location which is why we never tried this resto. The Hearts of Romaine Salad with their Garlic Anchovy dressing was the best and most authentic Caesar salad dressing I've tasted from a restaurant. The Gambas al Ajillo had tiger shrimps grilled to perfection and so fresh they practically peel off the skin by themselves. The Grilled Calamari & Octopus with Romesco Verde, Crispy Chourico and Lemon Aioli was fantastic...also grilled to perfection with many complementary flavours bursting in your mouth! And lastly, their Seafood Paella was delicious, far better and more authentic than Spanish restaurants downtown. Fishbone is now our favourite restaurant in Aurora! read more

Probably the best seafood paella I've ever had. Fishbone is known for its seafood dishes, but this one is a bit off the beaten track. Normally a Spanish dish, this one was better than I've had in most Spanish restaurants. This was a decent size serving loaded with fresh and perfectly cooked seafood morsels. The spice level was great, and the bold flavours blended really well. It was almost too much to finish the dish, because of the bread course before the meal. Delicious hot bread, and a specially blended butter was delicious. I shouldn't have, but I cleaned it up. Normally I wouldn't choose paella off the menu, but this is one of their specials of the week. Plus the server sold it really well! I hadn't been to fish bones in quite a while, I'm glad I made it back this time. I'll make sure I don't leave it so long between visits next time! read more

Party: 3 people Items ordered: Appetizer - Tuna Escabeche Mains - Tiger Shrimp & Crab Linguine + $10 for 1/2 dozen Raspberry Point oysters from PEI, Dourada $10 for 1/2 dozen Raspberry Point oysters from PEI & Arroz A Valenciana Desserts - 3 Maple Crème Brûlée Wasn't a big fan of the Tuna Escabeche due to the texture of the watermelon which didn't really go well with the tuna. The watermelon juices also diluted the other flavours. My main was the Tiger Shrimp & Crab Linguine along with the 1/2 dozen oysters. The oysters were very fresh and served at the perfect temperature while the linguine was a bit watery for my liking. The presentation could have been a bit better if more emphasis was placed on plating the shrimp. The shrimp was served in diced pieces scattered throughout the pasta with a little too much chilli pepper topped with a bunch of micro arugula. Lastly, the crème brûlée was really smooth and creamy served with a side of macerated berries that balanced out the sweetness from the caramelized sugar. I had sent my feedback to the restaurant and they were gracious and acknowledged my concerns and offered to right the wrong. We was glad we gave them a second chance. Came here for 2 occasions and both times service and food was consistent. Overall, its a nice place with good service and comfortable atmosphere. Food Quality of food is good and fresh. Presentation of the food is always nice. I had the grilled whole fish which they helped me debone after it was served. Although unique, I wasn't wowed by the taste. Maybe I didn't know how to appreciate fish in that style. On a separate occasion, I tried the stuffed calamari. The idea was good but it was a bit too salty that I couldn't finish it. Apart from their entress, I tried a variety of appetizers with the rest of my group, nothing really stood out expect for maybe the poutine. However, the poutine was removed from the menu on my second visit. See pics for food ordered. Service I have to say that service makes up for the food. They are attentive and will refill water and check up on you as needed. They are very clear in describing the menu and offering suggestions. On 1 occasion, the waitress told us the wrong number of servings for an appetizer dish and as result, we ordered more than what we needed. They offered it on the house since it was their error. Two out of three stars are given because of the store interior design and atmosphere. The waiter is really nice and friendly but overall based on the food and the quality I think it's a bit pricey. We decided to come to Friday Harbour on a spontaneous trip, luckily I was able to make reservations or Fishbone Kitchen & Bar. Only the patio area was available since we made reservations for 12:45pm, in doors seating opens at 1pm. We ordered the Octopus & Brussel Sprout appetizers and shrimp pasta. Everything was delicious and tasteful, my only disappointment was the Octopus portion was extremely small; compared to the portion I saw online. Overall, good experience. read more

Came down to Fishbone Kitchen and Grill for a business lunch. It's light, airy and beautifully decorated. The hostess and server were very nice and sat us promptly. We ordered a variety of things, and the general consensus was positive. I ordered the lamb bolognese, and it was delicious and filling. It did take a bit of time for the food to come out, and since we didn't order apps or special drinks, we just talked with an empty table. Perhaps the experience would have been different if we ordered wine or something. Price is probably closer to $$$ than $$$$. read more

Wow! I am at a loss for words for how fantastic the food is! Visited last night with four other chicas for a nice catch up dinner. Our server was polite and prompt. She ensured our dietary restrictions were met and accomodated. I ordered the feature salad: grilled peach, heirloom tomatoes, bocconcini and mint with a honey vinagrette. So delish! Every flavour was on point and complimented each other. I had never tried a salad with grilled peaches and I thought it would be a great time of year to try. No wonder it's a feature item! Next on my dinner menu was the crab & shrimp linguini. I recently had a poor experience with pasta at another respectable restaurant and was worried to try again. I only have pasta on special occasions and this was certainly the best redemption. I asked the server if I should give it a go and she urged that I do. And I regret nothing! Plenty of fresh seafood in this dish. In fact, I had four to five spoonfuls at the end of just seafood and sauce. Looooved it. Dessert had me torn between the pear and goat cheese thing or the lemon tart. I asked the server and she said I should definitely order the tart. We must have the same taste because it was certainly worth it. Delish crust with a tarty yet sweet lemon filling. Torchered merague dollops and edible flowers and raspberries laid on top.
