If you are thinking of placing your loved one in the memory care unit at Terra Bella on Satellite Boulevard, you should know a few important pieces of information. Positives: 1. It is a newer facility 2. It is cleaner than a lot of places in this area - it rarely has the nasty fecal smell many memory care units have 3. The food is pretty good in terms of variety and portions 4. The staff usually makes adjustments asked for by the doctor or family when they are being monitored 5. Many times I visited they had residents sitting at a communal table doing activities...bouncing balloons, coloring, playing word games, etc. This is a big plus when compared to some other places that simply push them to the nurses station and leaves them there all day. Negatives: 1. It is often understaffed - I have gone more than once and called out for assistance and no one was there monitoring the residents. One time I found workers in a back hallway on their phones. 2. Although company policy (and legal requirement) is if a resident is injured they have to immediately notify the primary responsible relative, make a digital entry in their online system, and write up the incident in the binder they keep at the nurses station desk, they do not always do that. Unfortunately there were several times this did not happen and I only found out my mom was injured when either myself or a visiting medical caregiver saw the injuries. I had to contact corporate, notify state agencies, and even had to call the police once to get them to tell me the truth about what had happened. 3. They do not always tell you the truth about your loved one's status. My mother had a cerebral hemorrhage (stroke) that left her unresponsive. They did not notice until the afternoon and then told me she was "sleepy" and as a precaution needed to go to the hospital. The truth was she had a massive stroke/cerebral hemorrhage earlier in the day (per the neurologist) that took her life 4 days later. I will never know the truth about when she had her stroke and when they found her non-responsive, but I do know she wasn't just "sleepy". The bottom line is if you place your loved one there YOU MUST: * Monitor their care by visiting at different hours of the day and different days of the week * Advocate for them and make sure the staff understands you expect their needs to be met in a timely manner * Ask questions when something doesn't seem right and verify the answers you get across multiple workers. If more people reported substandard care at facilities like Terra Bella they would be forced to improve the quality of their care. As the saying goes...you have to inspect what you expect. read more

My mother lives here and she has been happy for two years. She has lots of friends and has been satisfied with the food. The staff is always gracious and kind to her. We are very pleased with this facility. read more

Comfortable but quite expensive. However, my mom's 'cottage' is big and is elegantly appointed, with a full kitchen, fireplace, front and back porches and an attached garage. There is a pretty, peaceful central courtyard with a fountain. Planned activities include musical guests and weekly bus trips to local shopping. Church service is (or was until this virus) available, plus occasional movies. There is a very comfortable dining room for hot meals and a la carte, plus the bistro for quick cold plates and fruit snacks. I always look forward to joining Mom for meals. They are absolutely delicious, with generous portions, and the dining staff are genuinely nice people. There are on-site nurses, but just be aware that they are not available to all, such as the independent living cottages.The manager called an early and no-exceptions lockdown that has kept many people safe, I think. Also I have heard about the activities director's efforts to keep everyone in good spirits through this time, including having a guitar player serenading in the courtyard. Nice! read more

The management changed two months ago but problems still abound. The elevator to the second floor has been out for 3 weeks. It is the only way to get to the second floor in the independent living. When questioned about that management said everybody has their problems. You shouldn't live here if you're not independent. How's that for being friendly and caring. Another quote - "Don't you know what independent means? Don't live in the 2nd floor if you need more than a cane." Interesting when I said my mom is in a wheelchair, they didn't say anything. Now that she's moved in it's every man or woman for himself. Why is a place that is for senior living so rude to the people who are paying lots of money to live here. I would not recommend Discovery Villageunless you are able-bodied and then you might as well get an apartment and save a lot of money! read more

This review is long overdue. My parents were among the first to move into Noble Village in 2008 and I am glad they did. My mother died in 2011, later that year my father had surgery followed by a long and intense rehab period. I don't know how we would have gotten through 2011 without the care staff and management of Noble Village. The care staff has always been, and continues to be, very kind, compassionate and loving to our family. The management staff has been responsive to our every request. They worked with us to get Momma the best care possible as she began her decline ... and in her final days. They advised us on the best facility for my father's rehab, and allowed me to stay with him when he was released home. Throughout our entire time at NV, the staff has treated me with the same compassion and friendship they have given my parents. My 93-year old father is pretty active and does not need the kind of attention my mother did. However, the caregivers check in on Daddy anyway just to say hello and make sure he is ok. I feel there is an open-door policy with each department manager, right up to the Marketing Director/Director of Community Services, and even the owners. I count them all as part of my extended family, and am grateful my father is there. read more
