After spending several hours on the casino floor with great success my elderly dad and I decided to grab lunch and a cold beer before resuming play. This cafe is located right off the casino floor and is an open air layout with easy access for my dad's electric wheelchair. The staff here was very friendly and attentive and we were seated without a wait. Our server was the best she make sure our table was well suited to seat my dad and moved things around to make him comfortable. We each ordered a cold bottled beer to toast our outing which arrived immediately as we looked over the menu - we both started with a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo which was absolutely delicious and a amazing large portion for the price. My dad ordered one of his favorites, a nicely prepared ribeye steak cooked perfectly and hand cut fries and I ordered a pair of perfectly fried bone-in pork chops (so crispy and delicious) - we both skipped the side vegetables and mashed potatoes and opted for a chilled side salad to keep inline with our healthy entree and appetizer choices. The quality of the food was excellent, the service was outstanding and the prices beyond reasonable. We didn't sign up for a player's card at the casino and probably could of gotten this meal comp'ed with the amount of play prior to having lunch but that's okay since our visits here are infrequent. Awful. We were at Coushatta meeting some friends, and Mike was hungry. We thought about the steak house, but didn't want to take that much time. The problem began at the entrance. The hostess was very nice, but there was a gaggle of employees standing at the entrance to the restaurant. They were standing there complaining about something. Five or six of them between the hostess stand and the dining room, blocking access. After the nice hostess asked them to move so she could seat us, they dispersed. Our waitress was pleasant. I wasn't all that hungry, so I ordered a glass of wine and asked for a recommendation for a smaller meal. She didn't really have a suggestion, although in hindsight she probably should have suggested we try another restaurant. I asked about the crab cakes, and she said they were "very good". If you're still reading this, you probably have already guessed that she was very wrong. Mike ordered a Club sandwich with fries. Our food arrived. The crab cakes looked overly cooked, and although Mike's sandwich looked okay, the fries were cold. Just as Mike told me about the fries and I tried one, there was a very large man wearing a suit, exiting the kitchen. He looked managerial. I asked if he could get us some hot fries. and he pointed to our waitress. He said he would tell her, and he did. A few minutes later, there were hot fries delivered. I tried a bite of my one of crab cakes. It was horrible. Mostly filler. They also had a strange grease taste, like they were pan-fried in old (or bad) oil. I had to say a little prayer for the poor crabs that gave their lives for this nastiness. The remoulade was tasty, thankfully. It helped me finish off almost 1/2 of one crab cake. Mike's sandwich was good, and once the fries were corrected he enjoyed the food. In college I waited tables. Whenever I went to a table and there was someone there who had eaten one quarter of their food, I would ask if everything was okay, just to make sure the food was alright--and replace it if it wasn't. Our waitress never even acknowledged that I barely ate anything, nor did she circle back and ask if everything was okay. I could have said something to her, I suppose. In hindsight, I should have. Coushatta restaurant management, if you are reading this, here's some unsolicited advice: 1. If you can't at least try to put a decent crab cake on the menu in a Louisiana restaurant, take them off the menu. 2. Teach your servers to take care of your guests. 3. The proper response from a manager when asked anything by a customer is "Of course, right away. I apologize for the problem." Not "Oh, that's your server over there, I'll tell her." 4. Don't let your employees stand around in a group, chatting. It looks bad. I'm sure there is a private area in the back they can use. Do better. read more

I ordered a hamburger Steak Topped with brown gravy, caramelized onions, mushrooms, served with mashed potatoes & broccoli. It was so delicious. I also ordered a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. It was perfect. My friend ordered Crawfish Etouffée Traditional crawfish etouffée served with garlic bread & white rice. She also ordered the seafood gumbo. She enjoyed her meal as well. I ordered the steak and eggs, and the steak was burnt; I also ordered it to be cooked medium, and it was more on the well done side with a little amount of pink. The hash browns on the side were only crispy on top and soggy everywhere else. I don't know where else you could reasonably eat in this casino and have a good meal, but Terrace Cafe isn't it. I was so excited to be in Louisiana and get red beans and rice. It's one of my favorite meals. I couldn't even eat half of mine here. It was so nasty. My husband had gumbo and really didn't like his food either. The water also tasted dirty. Our waitress took our order, brought our food, brought the check and didn't come back a single time in between to check on us. It's a shame because Coushatta is one of my favorite casinos. We go to Coushatta every year around this time and Terrace Cafe is where we always eat. The dinner is always wonderful. The breakfast is hit or miss. This most recent visit was a little disappointing because the breakfast was a bit too greasy. The pancakes were raw and the biscuits were dry. But, overall they have really good food. read more

I've been here a few times before to have breakfast and it wasn't great but I was starving and so excited to have Cajun considering I was in Louisiana, it was far from good. Rice was cold and hard as a rock. The etouffee was so fishy and all the wrong flavors. I don't recommend this dish. My tea was empty and never once did our server check on us or ask if we needed drink refills. The restaurant wasn't busy ( 5 tables maybe - at least 5 servers ) so I would think service would be up to par. Over all needs improvement in all areas. Until then I won't eat there again. read more

I bought the Shrimp, Sausage Alfredo and they didn't me any sauce at all. It was dry noodles and shrimp and sausage. I asked the waiter to bring me the alfredo sauce that was missing from my dish so he did and when I got ready to check out they charged me $3.00 extra for the sauce they forgot to give me to begin with. Mr Patterson the manager would not back off of the $3.00 charge. The waiter never said there would be a charge for the sauce that was suppose to be on my pasta to begin with. We arrived at about 5:15 for an early dinner. There was one person ahead of us in line and the restaurant was sparsely populated, but it still took about five minutes to get a table. A few minutes later the waitress came and took our orders. The drinks came fairly quickly but the food took awhile. I had the shrimp and catfish, which was pretty good. I was so looking forward to the special Christmas dinner of prime rib. When we got there, there was a 45 minute wait,which was okay but it would have been nice to Know reservations were needed ahead of time. We ordered an appetizer to share and our waitress didn't bring us plates to use with the fried green tomatoes-which were very good. We ordered prime rib, medium rare. When it arrived it was not pink AT ALL. In fact my husband was served an end piece which was beyond well done. It was sliced very thin. It had a decent flavor but overall not what I was hoping for. My husband ordered cheesecake for desert. It took 20 minutes to get it and it was a slice of cheesecake with 1/2 a strawberry on top with a small dollop of whipped cream. No sauce of any kind. Great choice for families with children and dog . I would give it a five star, but wait staff got our order late and we had three different waitresses in the hour and a half we were there. The first waitress took our order and left, not sure why. The second waitress took a long time to check on us and had part of our order mixed up. We usually eat here the most while visiting Coushatta. The food is good for the most part, service with a smile. Things run a bit slow, getting seated, ordering and waiting for your food, getting the bill, but we aren't in a rush when we come. Sherry and Brittany are great servers. I had Chicken Fried Steak, mashed pot, corn and a roll, the hubs had Hamburger Steak smothered in brown gravy that was really good, mashed pot, green beans, roll. Next meal we had was a Club sandwich that was tasty with home fries and the hubs had New York strip steak with eggs and hashbrowns and loved it. By far the best restaurant in the casino. A few things could be changed, but I enjoy a chicken fried steak that tastes like our old school lunches back in the day, lol. I hate to do this but this Chef was so disappointed. The salad...iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, unripe tomatoes and cucumbers. Stale croutons. Lettuce pieces were not shredded or bite sized. The stuffed baked potato was so dry! No butter as stated on the menu and extremely overcooked! The grilled shrimp was spot on! Came here because the Diner was closed and waited 20 mins to even be seated the manager had to seat us after being seated. You always order your drinks and then you get complementary bread..well not in our case once seated we ordered food&drinks. We had to ask for bread with a couple that came after us got bread from the same waitress. After that the menu need so many adjustments. On all you can eat sides you only get 1 or none. The food overall was good but the real problem started when my great grandmother and aunt joined us and we were seated all the way in the back and were never checked on had to keep asking for things like the menu,napkins or silverware.
