Oysters in the po boy were completely burnt and the side of house potato chips were also completely burnt. $24 sandwich was inedible. The food was absolutely fantastic -- rich in flavor and clearly crafted with care. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of expectations. We waited over an hour for our meals, after a 20-minute delay just to have our order taken. During that time, we watched multiple tables that were seated at least 30 minutes after us receive -- and finish -- the very same dishes we had ordered. By the time our food finally arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty. To make matters worse, the $20 fried gator po'boy initially arrived cold and rubbery, and had to be sent back. Thankfully, when it was remade, it was everything it should have been: hot, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy within, and bursting with flavor -- easily the highlight of the meal. Adding to the frustration, our appetizer, which had been ordered with our drinks, wasn't brought out until we were nearly done eating. That said, if you're fortunate enough to receive your food hot and in a timely manner, the kitchen clearly has the potential to impress. As for the food, it might have been the worst meal I've had in as long as I can remember. I tried the 1/4 muffuletta with fries and my daughter had the shrimp fettuccine with bread pudding. The muffaletta was soft and there was NO olive salad on it--arguably the best part. The fries were an absolute disappointment--soggy, overcooked and it tasted like the oil they were fried in was old. I couldn't even finish it. My daughter said the pasta was mediocre and the bread pudding was soggy and had too much cinnamon. We ate there after the Cajun Rodeo and the food was soo good. Appetizer: Chicken bites, we all agreed that this could have been a meal. Chicken was fried and seasoned! Meals: club sandwich, fish and shrimp, plain hamburger all with a side of fries. Everything was fresh, hot and good. Service was so friendly. We were greeted when we walked in the door and waited on quickly. Drinks never went dry and timing of food was on point. Only drawback is the smell of cigarette smoke but we didn't smell like smoke when we left. We will be back to eat again. read more

The food & service is very consistent. It's right off the interstate and it's our go to spot whenever we travel.

I was REALLY shocked at this place. It is no five star place, but for the location, the quickness of service, etc. it is really good. I genuinely like the food here. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that a gas station restaurant has quality food, but it's true. Their boudin balls are delicious, and the shrimp poboy is insane. I went here 2wks ago when out here for work and I enjoyed what I got that this week when back for work again I came back. The alligator sausage is really good, the fried shrimp po-boy is over loaded with shrimp and this place has the best bread pudding. I also this time around tried the beniegts and damn they are really good too. They are like mini style from what I'm use to in New Orleans but they were made fresh and delicious. This is a review of the gas station. This gas station/restaurant is home to one of the worst restrooms I have ever experienced. We were on the way home from Texas and in need of fuel and a bathroom break. The station is very large. There are numerous pumps located in front with the diesel for large trucks located in the rear. Even though the station is very large, it was packed with people and was difficult to navigate. After fueling, I went in to use the restroom and was amazed at the condition. The bathroom looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in some tine. There was urine all over the floor, half of the soap dispensers and towel machines were either ripped off of the wall or not functioning. I bought a water and even the check out experience was chaotic. There were two cashiers, but it wasn't clear if there was a line or if both were working. I will avoid this station on future trips. read more

This little place is in a gas station in between Lafayette and Lake Charles. They have all types of Cajun fried seafood and gumbos and jambalaya. We ordered shrimp poboys and coffee. The service was horrible, as the waitresses just stay at the counter and just mess around and come about ever 20 minutes if you know them and beg them to come. The coffee was mediocre. I liked my poboy. the shrimp was perfectly battered on French bread and was overflowing. The fries had a Cajun seasoning on them and they were good. While at the gas station, we bought a 5 lb box of boudin to bring home. It was frozen, and when I tasted it it was spicy and delicious. I forgot, one of the best parts of that poboy was some of the best homemade remoulade dipping sauces I have had. Stopped here during a pit stop on a road trip from New Orleans to San Antonio. After taking a detour and I-10 being closed for 3 hours it was a well welcomed stop. Although it is a truck stop the food was very good. We had the alligator bits, which are fried but very moist and tender inside. (They also come with a tasty dipping sauce). The shrimp poboy was also ordered and they really pile on the shrimps here. I also ordered the gumbo, but would pass on it next time, it was a bit salty for my liking. The restaurant also has a convenience store attached with a liquor store and small shopping area. It's a one stop shop for all needs! read more

Yes, I gave a truck stop restaurant a 5 star review. I absolutely love fresh, spicy Cajun seafood and was absolutely starving when we decided to stop here solely because we knew they had big-rig parking. We started with an appetizer of fried alligator with a creamy horseradish sauce with a hint of mayonnaise. There were exceptional. The absolute best alligator I've ever had and I've spent 20-30$ at Pappadeaux on the exact same thing. We ordered another one to go just so we could have some later. My husband ordered the catfish dinner with some awesome sweet potato fries. His catfish was extra crunchy, flakey and delicious. I ordered the half and half seafood platter which came with jumbo fried shrimp, two fried fish filets and some deliciously seasoned fries. My meal was piping hot and cooked exactly the way fish is supposed to be cooked: tender but crispy and seasoned perfectly. I was so surprised at how much we enjoyed our food that we ordered a large order of chicken and sausage gumbo to go. You can't leave a Cajun restaurant without gumbo. You just don't do it. I took off one star because two of the tables we tried to sit at were filthy and made me a little hesitant to eat there to begin with but thank heavens, we did! Stopped at this location as my group wanted to try local Louisiana cuisine. The staff seemed friendly. The waters we ordered tasted odd like even worse than tap water. It took 10 mins to talk to a waitress but ours was nice. The boudin balls were cold in the center indicating they were frozen. It took over 45 mins for a roast beef po boy, club sandwich and red beans & rice. We decided to leave early and get our food to go. Seemed like only one waitress was working, ours went missing while the other was flirting with older customers . Not once did they come to our table and ask us if we wanted more drinks. The boudin on the sausage & boudin board was bland. They dropped the poboy on our table that caused gravy to fall on my jeans. The sandwhich was gasly and way too much gravy. The restrooms were also not as clean as advertised and a slipping hazard .You're better off driving a bit further to Lafayette for food . read more

This used to be my favorite place in Jennings! Went today and ordered a shrimp and oyster platter. The shrimp fine. However the oysters were chewy. They were so bad that I could not eat them. I brought it to the attention of the waitress. She apologized that I didn't like the oysters. It wasn't that I didn't like them.....they were not edible! We ate here three different times and each time I was pleased with what I ate and what I saw. The first lunch consisted of a poboy sandwich. We were told that the shrimp poboy was just a sight to see. Poboy on crack. Technically, you could not see the bread. I didn't order mainly because I would rather walk then eat shrimp. I ordered the normal sized (knowing that there is only one size) turkey poboy. It was normal, which I liked. The french fries seemed fresh. The service was above average, which you would usually see at places in Louisiana. My second lunch consisted of Chicken Fried Chicken which was boneless, and not sooo greasy. It was yummmmm. After two meals, I did not leave unsatisfied. Last day was breakfast. I ordered Beignet, which I had no clue was. I asked and they said Fried Bread. OMG. I ordered this, size of bacon and hash browns. The beignet was an excellent choice, except for the fact that it gave me a food coma. As for the hash browns, they were pattied and served browned and delicious. They inserted some seasoning into these patties. Excellent. If you're on the road, exit and get gas here. My first trip to New Orleans had a pit stop at this place. I've tried the crawfish mini meat pies, boudins and shrimp po boys at this place. The Po Boy had so much shrimp it didn't fit the bread. The mini meat pies were good. They had pieces of crawfish and were shaped like pizza pockets. I think they came with six with one order. One of the times I went, we had accidentally ordered ten orders of meat pies. I might have gotten sick of them after the twentieth piece. The first time I've tried the boudin, it was a little dry. Pleasantly surprised...for a sit-down Cajun restaurant co-located with a truck stop this place is worth the stop. My crawfish étouffée was forgettable, and the boudin balls were just OK, but the fried shrimp po-boy was awesome, and the fried catfish my son had was a big hit. This a must stop for us when heading to NOLA! Best Boudin Balls hands down, they're so damn good, I even dream about them (I'm drooling now) and don't get me started with their homemade tarter sauce, it pairs perfectly with them. They come in 3 or 5 so my husband and I are always ready to fight for the last one lol! I always get the chicken and sausage gumbo, it's pretty close to my favorite gumbo ever. It's just so delicious, perfectly seasoned and it's a huge portion. He usually gets the catfish poboy, tasty. On this visit he got the small burger and said it was pretty darn good (no pic, was too busy eating my victory ball.) The sweet tea is refreshing, his favorite.
