Pool and land exercises. My therapist was very good and gave me things to do that worked for me. However their office policies changed for the new year. There was a 25. missed appointment but has now changed to a 100. I was very offended they wanted so much more money. You either sign the contract or you are told you are being taken off of their appointments. Money means more than helping people is what I felt like. I never missed an appointment. Everyone at Terrapin is wonderful, friendly, and professional, but I'm convinced Tony is a magician. I came to Terrapin because I had minor but nagging running injuries that had gotten worse: plantar fasciitis on one side, high hamstring and gastroc strains on the other. I had gone from running about 25 miles/week to being unable to run a mile. Tony worked with me to improve my gait, warmup, and stretching routine. He also helped me build self-confidence that I could run without pain. I was back to my usual mileage in less than a month of working with Tony. Now that I've finished my physical therapy, my pace is continuing to improve. The only downside is that I miss getting to see all of the Terrapin folks twice a week! read more

I wanted to do pool therapy after my hip replacement so my orthopedic surgeon send me to Terrapin and I'm very glad that he did. I really enjoyed my time there and thought that they did a great job. One of the things that I really liked was that I always worked with the same therapist, Tri. Tri was great and asked me lots of questions about what my desires were for post-operative life, and came up with a treatment plan designed specifically for me. He always listened to what I had to say and then would modify a day's treatment to address any problems I may have had since my last visit. The treatments never felt rushed and I really felt I got the most out of the regime. They also seemed to have a strict COVID protocol which they followed closely, so I was never concerned with catching the virus during a visit. I'm working on a hip injury and have had such a good experience at Terrapin. Michael is my pt. He listens and honestly cares about improving my hip strength and mobility. He's calm, professional, patient and very respectful. He works carefully to understand my threshold and customizes my stretches and exercises to strengthen my hip while avoiding pain. There are many students/interns bringing energy and enthusiasm to the environment. The front staff is delightful, efficient and extremely helpful. Where to begin? My husband was involved in a motorcycle accident due to some idiot running a stop sign, which resulted in a bad wrist break. After having successful surgery with Dr. James Lin with Monterey Spine & Joint, Dr. Lin referred him to Certified Hand Therapist Lisa Livian with Terrapin Physical Therapy, also at Ryan Ranch. Lisa had a great relationship with Dr. Lin and could email or call him directly if anything came up, which was great and showed a team approach in my husband's healing. Lisa would tell him how he was progressing and Dr. Lin would confirm it. Lisa was so AWESOME and explained every step of therapy and the function of each exercise and would address any questions or concerns my husband had. She showed me how to massage the scar tissue in my husband's hand between PT sessions and I was grateful for being welcomed into the sessions to be a part of his healing process, versus asked to take a seat in the waiting room. She and the staff were great, always smiling and warm and tolerant of our sense of humor. Fast forward 6 months and am grateful to say my husband is healed. I called Terrapin about 6 months ago to schedule some physical therapy. I was told they weren't accepting any new patients. No apology, no referral to somebody else, nothing. Just recently I called them again to schedule physical therapy. Once again they are not accepting new patients. Wtf. :( It would be extremely helpful if they would put this information on their website so potential patients don't go through the hassle of making sure their insurance is accepted both ways for no reason. Apparently this is a common occurrence so don't bother factoring in Terrapin when researching physical therapy places because it's probably a waste of time. I recently suffered an injury that requires physical therapy. I was set up with Terrapin and didn't quite know what to expect. My first appointment was outstanding. I met with Heidi upon arriving and she quickly got me squared away with the paperwork. When I finished, I was quickly seen by my therapist. Tony explained what we would be doing and answered all my questions. He was extremely knowledgeable and built my confidence in the healing process. This injury has come with feeling a little depressed with not being able to live a normal life like before my injury. Tony, my therapist, listened to my concerns and set a plan to help me "get back on my feet." I mentioned that I would like to come back for a second appointment the following day. They didn't have any times available, so Tony agreed to come in at 7:40am to see me. This was not his usual work time but he went out of his way to accommodate me. I was super impressed with his willingness to help me out. I really want to heal and conveyed this to Tony a few times. I am a motivated customer and he was willing to go overboard to help me achieve my goals. The pool therapy is unique in California. I understand that there are only 5 locations that have pool based therapy in CA and Terrapin is one of those locations. I enjoyed my pool therapy and responded well to the process. After recently getting two new hip replacements, along with three hip dislocations, my body still wasn't moving comfortably and I was still feeling scared to move... I am a second time patient to Terrapin as I was so pleased with the recovery after my first injury. I was initially referred to Terrapin last year for a broken ankle. Having a treadmill in the pool got me back to normal very quickly and I was skating again in less than two months. I have unfortunately found myself needing PT again, this time for a broken leg (both tibia and fibula). The healing of my bone has taken a long time, but doing PT the entire time helped me keep muscle, gain back range of motion, and has made the transition to walking much smoother. It has only been a week since I have been allowed to walk on my leg, and I am almost ready to be crutch-free. Yay! I have worked with three different therapists, Tony, Steve, and Tri, and they have all been really great and invested in my recovery. How I love Ripple/Terrapin Therapy. The place is beautiful with gorgeous art work so when you walk in the whole atmosphere is tasteful, clean and serene. I lucked out and got Nathan and highly recommend him. He assessed my hip and knee problems and then got to work with exercises and a program to get me up and going again. He is so nice and knowledgable and fun he made exercising enjoyable. He is very engaging and kept it interesting, never boring. I did a variety of floor exercises and stairs and different machines plus the wonderful hydrotherapy pool. I did my exercises on the off days and after a few weeks I could feel and see the difference. I am thrilled I can walk and go upstairs with no pain. The entire staff is friendly and supportive. I worked with Tri and Steve while at Terrapin. They were both very knowledgeable and attentive. I had not been able to run for two years due to a hip/back injury secondary to pregnancy and labor. Running was my passion and they brought me back to it. I will forever by thankful to the therapist and staff. Tri used an iPad to complete a running gate analysis which allowed him to pinpoint the issue with my stride/gait in a precise manner. The therapists initially had me in the pool (which has a treadmill under water!) for a controlled, pain free environment, then they brought me to land therapy once I was strong enough. They also utilized myofascial release with cupping which was very helpful. I would definitely recommend Terrapin. read more

I have issues with an IT band and injury for 5 years. I went to another facility when the problem first occurred with some relief from the pain. I slipped and fell at work over a year ago and the pain in my leg was getting worse by the day. The therapists and their assistants did an excellent job of relieving my pain and working with me to develop a home stretching and exercise program . Unfortunately, I'm a veteran of knee surgeries...more than I'd like to count. At last, I had a total knee replacement (by Dr. Meckel...love him). This place is as good as it gets. The entire staff is really friendly. I was a little PTSD about physical therapy, because my hospital experience with PT within hours of my surgery was very painful. I was scared to death to let anyone touch my knee. Jennifer and Steve were very compassionate and patient with me. I finally stopped being afraid of pain, and they found a way to work on regaining my range of motion, without forcing me into something I couldn't handle. I love the pool, of course. The water treadmill is a blessing. I was scared to try land work, but Steve earned my trust and I have to admit that I really began to make progress here. This is a team of true professionals, and I doubt I'd be where I am had I not gone here. I highly recommend this establishment. It's clean, has state-of-the-art equipment and top notch PT's. Everything was going great after a near fatal accident over a year ago. Still going thru legal proceedings to pay of all my medical bills. So many people are waiting and continue to care for me, but Terrapin Physical Therapy Management decided that they wanted some money RIGHT NOW before they would continue to help me finish my few sessions I had to complete my therapy. out of GOOD FAITH I did pay them as much as I possibly could on the bill and they thanked me only to tell me on my next visit that I have to pay Every Visit a Co Pay that has never been required by any caregiver thus far because of my situation of not being able to leave my house in a year making it IMPOSSIBLE to get my life back together needless to say any money for ANY payments. I was So Disappointed that they could not just wait like everyone else to collect their monies for services. As I told them I had EVERY intention to pay them. Afterall they were helping me walk again. I thought. My injury has taken it's toll. I am so devastated. I was all about YELP 5 stars for Terrapin!! But that was quickly dismissed abruptly. I have been to a few physical therapy businesses in the area for various issues over the years. I used to dread going to physical therapy and couldn't wait till it was over. Mainly due to feeling comfortable and listened too. You won't feel that way at Terrapin. They are very professional and will take the time to answer your questions so you can understand why you are doing the exercises and how to do them correctly. I have never felt embarrassed or intimated by being a large woman. They genuinely care about your overall health and well being. That goes for all the staff team members. I was referred to Tony Pazzaglia and his business (Terrapin PT) by 2 of my doctors (one goes there and says PT in the therapy pool is absolutely the single most important component of their health program!) My initial problem was a torn meniscus which was COMPLETELY Healed/ resolved through his PT and assigned exercises (DO THEM if you want to succeed!!!) at home! I avoided surgery and predictions of never right again! My long term life challenge though is severe pain in my back when standing/walking and more recent problems with pains in my legs and leg and buttocks cramping. I wanted to AT LAST and AT LEAST find out if it could be improved or if this is a permanent condition I had best adjust to and "live with it". I had become almost disabled in that I couldn't walk at all without pain. Maybe 50% confined to bed or chair. To my delight my work with Tony, especially on the treadmill in the therapy pool, has made a HUGE difference in my day to day quality of life. I can reasonably do short grocery shops, visit with friend, and household tasks (used to take an hour to clean the kitchen and a 5 minute site for every 5 minutes standing... now maybe one sit on a bad day!). At this point I am still a work in progress but I can walk a bit (like to the beach from the car) and not regret the decision or be in bed for a day. My goal is the be able to walk comfortably for an hour. A goal I will achieve by continued therapy and a lot of practice in day to day life. While the moments of severe pain still come they are reduced in HUGELY in both magnitude and frequency. AMAZING and I'm thrilled...as is my husband who was considering whether it was wheel chair time! (He isn't any more). To be clear, PT is a joint project. They do NOT "fix" you but work on you and with you. They show and teach and work with you BUT you have to do the homework, in my case on an ongoing basis, to reach and maintain your goals. Ideally you become independent and continue with your life and incorporate what you learn into your life to stay healthy. The staff is competent, professional and friendly. The place is CLEAN (I've noticed Tony makes sure it is a continual process). The gym is first rate but the therapy pool with a treadmill in it is a MIRACLE. And did you know you work 1.5 times as HARD at the same pace and distance than if you were on dry land? I give Terrapin huge respect and thanks for enabling me get my life back and teaching me how to maintain it on my own. At times it isn't easy but I have no regrets and appreciate the gift of enjoying life more than I have in years. And I'm 74 so DON'T GIVE UP or let some doc or well-meaning friend tell you it's just your age... virtually all of us (and yes I know life ends for all of us) can be healthier and happier than we are... especially when our bodies have seemed to have gotten cranky/betrayed us. So I recommend you consider experiencing this and you couldn't be in better hands than doing it with Terrapin! I'm glad to answer any questions. First time to a Physical Therapist. It was like going to Cheers, everybody knew my name. Erin was very good at setting up my therapy. I had complete confidence in her assessment. Steve was as good of an explainer as they come. I realized what my problem was and it was easy to follow his explanation of why I was doing my exercises. TLDR: Tony is a prior marathon runner and was able to not only fix my injuries, but improved my running form to get me a new PR, and six months later I still run and feel great. I injured myself running the 2016 Big Sur Marathon. I tried to improve my running form, using new shoes, running on dirt more instead of pavement, and none of it worked. I decided to finally go to the doctor and get a prescription for physical therapy to Terrapin and within my first few visits there was major improvement. Tony was my main physical therapist. He's run a few marathons himself and is very knowledgeable in running physical therapy. The pool treadmill was decidedly essential to my improvement also. Tony was great at pushing me while staying in my comfort zone, and getting the most improvement out of my sessions. He also introduced me to the galloway method and I used some of that in my future running. I ran the 2017 Big Sur Marathon and was able to improve my time and feel even better at the end then I did the year before. It's been three months since and I'm still running great thanks to my time at Terrapin. Also, the front desk and Tony's fellow therapists and assistants were all great too.
