By the grace of God I somehow managed to get back to the place we were staying, but my wallet and phone were stolen. I can see how this club could be fun and exciting, and I was somewhat enjoying myself until this happened, but I just didn't have the best experience. If you go, just be cautious.

GD Lounge is located in the Met 1 building, and getting there was pretty smooth. There's valet parking at the building, or you can park at a public lot about 1-2 blocks north. Since it was Labor Day weekend, it wasn't too crowded a lot of people leave Miami during that time. To find the entrance, just go around the corner from the main Met 1 entrance. The lounge is on the second floor, and there's always someone by the door to guide you. Once you go up the steps and make a left, you're in. The interior is beautiful very serene and calm, with a vibe that reminded me of Gaby's Harlem Nights. I had a glass of white wine and went with some friends, and it was the perfect setting for a chill evening. Things picked up a bit about an hour after we arrived (around 10:30), but it never got uncomfortably crowded. The DJ was amazing, and the overall vibe was on point. We stayed until around 2 AM. Just a heads-up: if you park in the public lot, be cautious walking alone near the train station there were a couple of homeless people around that area.

It's a very analog, and thankfully honest, unhipster revival for a generation who knows not of Bali Hai, Don the Beachcomber, the Mai Kai, and San Francisco's once-great, now seedy Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar, at the Fairmont Hotel, on Nob Hill.
