It's a great photo op, usually there's no one else there, or maybe one of two other groups. But the place is big enough that you don't have to wait in line to take pictures! Street parking is free, but also, be respectful of the area as it is a residential area!

The famous "Murder House" from American Horror Story is located in Los Angeles and is great fun to…read moresee. The Murder is really the Rosenheim Mansion. Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. I had read that some can walk though it, but I did not see anyway to do that.

It's a free event, so a long line is understandable -- just something to plan for. The overall vibe inside was fun and worth checking out if you've got the patience. My only suggestion would be for them to open more than just four days in October. That would help spread out the crowds and make it easier for more people to enjoy the experience without such a long wait.

The theme this year is "Evil in the London Fog," and right when you enter, you feel like you've stepped into a foggy, cobblestoned, Victorian London of the past. This was my first haunted house I've ever done, and I don't like being scared. It is the perfect intro to haunted houses for someone like myself who is a scaredy cat - it was light on gore and very brief which made it manageable to walk through. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quite fast. The haunted house is built on their front yard (amazing), so you will get through it quite quickly. It is free, which is incredible for the amount of work that goes into it. However! There is a box where you can leave donations, and all proceeds go to Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Everyone who was working the haunt was so friendly, with fantastic themed costumes to boot. Absolutely wonderful vibes all around! They deserve no tricks and ALL the treats!

Now, this review is mainly for the older people... If you're planning on going, get there early! There's a lot of walking--and I mean A LOT of walking. And don't forget to get the Express or Fast Pass. Trust me, you're not only going to want it... you're going to need it! Oh, and one more side note for my fellow seniors: don't forget the Tylenol or ibuprofen! Now, all that aside, let's get down to business. We did all the mazes and went on a few rides because we got there early enough during the day. Unfortunately, the Transformers ride had an issue while we were on it, so they had to stop the ride and get everybody out. Besides that little hiccup, everything was really cool. We skipped Fast & Furious because I wasn't about to wait two hours in line, especially since they weren't accepting the Fast Pass or Express Pass for that ride. As for the mazes, they were all really cool. I especially liked the Sinner maze, and I also really enjoyed the Ozzy Osbourne maze. That was actually the first one we did. Overall, I had a great time. And just like the old people we are... we were done by 10 PM! We've been attending Halloween Horror Nights since they first started way back when, and we've always had a great time. But over the years, we've gotten a little smarter about it. And I'll say it again: that Express or Fast Pass really does make a difference. I know it's expensive, but if you want to do as much as possible without spending your entire night standing in line, it's totally worth it. So if you've never been, grab some friends, get there early, wear comfortable shoes, bring your pain reliever, and prepare to have a great time! So let's start: As soon as you enter CityWalk through the security gates, they make you throw out any beverages you may have. Why? Because they want you to purchase their overpriced beverages at either CityWalk or in the park. We made it a point of getting there early as they in the past would open the gates from 5:30 to 6:00. HHN starts at 7:00 PM. Here they just queue you up, and finally start scanning your tickets close to 6:00 PM before stopping you at the main gate again and making you wait. They finally open the gates close to 7:00 PM. Went to the lower lot first to hit the major mazes. With all the standing I got a concession to ride me over for dinner. Stood in line for the sub par Stranger Things maze. We finally entered the maze at 8:20. The only scary thing about the evening was the endless lines that merged into more endless lines. By the time we finished the maze, we were ready for dinner and ate at the Three Broomsticks in Harry Potter land. This is likely the only decent place to eat in all of Universal Studios. By the time we finished dinner, it was past 9:30. We were tired and disappointed and just wanted to head home. So we only hit one maze/ ride. What a colossal waste of time and money. I won't be coming back. My experience this evening shows that Universal has no care or concern for their guests' experiences.

Totally worth it. The show this year topped the last (which we didn't think was possible). The energy, the creativity, the weirdness were all dialed up in the best way. We even met Zombie Joe himself outside, super friendly guy. And as a sweet bonus, they were handing out freeze-dried Skittles for everyone. Small touch, big win. Already looking forward to the next one.

An absolutely MISERABLE experience, due to Toomer Security, the guard company hired to manage the…read morelong line outside this pop-up. I would absolutely not recommend coming to this pop-up (which closes this coming weekend) because I was cheated by and yelled at by the security guards for over two hours. Here are the highlights: 1) The security guards repeatedly let groups of people cut, so that I was always at the back of the line. My boyfriend and I waited over two-and-a-half hours outside on Hollywood Boulevard, and on three occasions, the security guards ordered the people toward the back of the line to "keep walking backward." Each time we were forced to walk backward, the line was shuffled, and people were allowed to cut, making it impossible to advance in line. I eventually was admitted into the event as one of the last five people before they closed for the night. 2) The guards treated us like prisoners, repeatedly yelling, "Get your backs up against the wall!" They kept shouting this even though we already were standing against the wall, and no one in line was causing problems. It was extremely insulting and humiliating. 3) The guards let in the standby line before the priority access line, and then lied to me about it. People who have purchased IMAX movie tickets to IT 2 are supposed to have priority access, per the event website. The guards also told us this, so we bought tickets and got into the IMAX line. But the guards ended up letting in the non-ticket holders AN HOUR BEFORE US. When I asked Caleb, the Toomer Security manager, about this, he didn't have an explanation and then a very terse guard jumped in and told me (lied to me) that the non-ticket holders were going to a holding area and not inside; he assured me since we had IMAX tickets we would still go in before them. I knew this was a lie because I then saw the non-ticket holders inside the venue, as I could see through the gaps of the exterior wall. 4) Once we got to the entrance we were then rushed to sign a 2-page legal waiver in tiny print. Also, no one checked our IDs or our IMAX tickets, even though Security kept telling us over and over we needed proof of being over age 17 and that we had paid for movie tickets. Why didn't they give us the waivers while we were waiting so long in line? When we finally made it inside the pop-up, it was fun (though not the 40-minute experience advertised; it was more like 20 minutes), but not worth the experience of a completely unfair line. I'm so angered by how Toomer Security treated my boyfriend and me at this pop-up, that I am canceling and refunding my IMAX tickets because I don't want to support anything that has something to do with the IT 2 pop-up experience.

Toomer, the security company hired for this event, ruins this experience…read more Harassment, yelling, lying, apathy and disregard for decency-and you get to deal with it for more than 2 hours as you wait in line. Expect constant anxiety as you have to deal with these people yelling at you nearly every minute for those 2+ hours. Caleb, the manager, obviously did not have a handle on his crew nor have any idea how to manage or plan for the event or handle the people attending. His team spent the night yelling at the crowd, barking orders for them to, "GET UP AGAINST THE WALL" in the way you'd hear a cop yell at a criminal he's been chasing down. You heard this yelled at you non-stop for over 2 hours, even if you were already up against the wall. We were also constantly told to turn around and walk another 300 feet down the block. But this was done all through yelling, without any sort of guidance or order. The result was each time we had to shuffle the line down the block, groups of people thought they would take this opportunity to cut in line. The guards didn't care about this at all, and only cared that you were against the wall. When it was pointed out that 2 people joined the end of the line after it had already been closed, Caleb put the responsibility of kicking them out on his guard, rather than being a leader and taking the responsibility. We watched him go back and forth with the guard, not taking any action, even when the guard obviously didn't want to deal with the stress of something a manager should handle. We were also blatantly lied to. We were originally in a 100+ person line. Caleb told me that if we had IMAX tickets, we would get in early, and the IMAX holder line only had 20 people. Instead the security team began with the 100 person line, and then had the preferred line for IMAX holders go after them. I brough this up to Caleb only to have one of his guards cut me off, obviously trying to win brownie points with the boss. The guard lied to me, saying, "those people who went in aren't going to go in before you, they're just going to another line to wait". I could look through the fence and see them getting to play the games. Just lying to try to get people to shut up and obey. It was another hour after they got to go in before we even got to the gates. Eventually, when we got to the gates to enter, we were individually handed waivers to sign. This was a huge bottle neck in time. Why not just have people sign the waiver while they're already in line? You make us wait long enough as it is. Even though I bought my IMAX tickets, they didn't even check that. So anybody could have gone in, even though the security made such a big deal over it. They also never checked our ID, even though we also heard them make a big deal about being over 17 or having a guardian over 30. The team also had no idea anything about the event. People who came after the lines were closed were told by the guard, "you can't come in, this is it. You'll have to come back next year". Next year? Really? This attraction was open for at least another week at that point. This attraction desperately needed a marketing team. The real nightmare was in how the customers and potential movie goers were treated. Because of the horrible way the security team behaved towards me and the other people, I actually wound up cancelling my IMAX tickets and have a general apathy towards the IT franchise. This has left a bad taste in my mouth. And in the future, if I see any event with Toomer, I'm just going to leave for something better.
