Ambience was okay, I wanted something like a diner, but it was neither a diner nor a restaurant. The food felt like out of a can, tasted really bad. Nothing seemed fresh; from Alfredo sauce to humus to tofu, mushroom soup, chicken sandwich. Chicken and tofu felt rubbery, mushrooms soup was straight out of a can. They offered a good selection of breaded (only) wet & dry flavors. We chose Caesar Parmesan, Honey Garlic, Hotty-Yaki and Salt & Pepper. The S&P was light on spices and needed more,, the CP was very saucy and the other two were delicious. The atmosphere was laid back and quiet for that time as the restaurant was not very busy. I got the (I forget what it's actually called, but 2 eggs, hash browns and pancakes). I also got an earl grey tea and I couldn't be happier that it was Tazo! As for the breakfast itself, it was a really good portion for the price paid. They gave a lot of hash browns and as you may have seen in pictures, their pancakes are HUGE! Everytime I come to Penticton I go to Terry's to eat a 5 egg bacon and cheese omelette. To complete the menu they add a sort of toasts and potatoes. If you want some sweet menu they have the pancakes that also are delicious. A will recommend this restaurant to have a good breakfast time. read more

Can you say massive portions...holly cow. I ordered the full order of the Mexican bowl (8/10) and was pleased with the quality and stoked about the size of the portion. My two daughters helped me while I was at the restaurant, and later that afternoon it fed two of us as well. The blueberry pancakes (9/10) where not only delish but at under 9 bucks, a great value Took a bit to get in though. That being said, it was Sunday morning so...Our table of six took a bit to have our order taken and a lottle to long to get served, so if your in a rush go elsewhere. I would definitely go back. I love these mom-and-pop joints with big portions and unique dishes. The quality was very good as well. Funny how we have never gone there despite having family living in Penticton! Well, to be honest, I bet they would find it quite pricey for a breakfast joint. Yes, it is on the pricey side but the portions are huge to justify it. I'm not sure if heaps and heaps of french fries and pan fries would make it worth paying $15 - $22 a plate. When our little family went there, Hubby had the bacon cheeseburger with fries, kid had the little burger and he's not a fan of fries so we got a side of coleslaw (no, they do not have sides of carrot sticks or apple slices ! ) and I had the smaller portion of the Veggie scramble. Hubby really enjoyed his burger - said it was pretty good and freshly made and fries were good but not as good as White Spot. The kid really liked his burger but it could have some cheese or mayo on the bun - good thing there's ketchup! So we were told they don't offer any fresh veggies or salads or fruit as a side - kinda disappointing as they do fruit in their pancakes. Okay, we got a side slaw that looks a lot like the White Spot version but sadly, it didn't make the taste. I tried it and it was so bland that I put salt in it (which I never do) - seriously needed some zing! Speaking of bland, I got my huge veggie scramble and it looked good and the potatoes were very brown & crispy but what ruined it was the sauce on it! Not a cheese or hollandaise but a brownish sauce with a slightly sweet taste and so much of it! There was cheese but not enough to make the sauce taste better and it just needed more than the salt and pepper that again I had to use! I think a siracha or even hp sauce was needed. There was a lot - I ate some of the eggs and veggies (too much chopped onions) and whatever bites of potatoes that weren't drowned in sauce. i suggest to ask for sauce on side or omit it all together and go with ketchup. Overall, food was generous / mainly with fries/potatoes, service can be a bit slow but at least the coffee was refilled as it was lunch time and did get busy and for those who are watching their starchy carbs and fats - do not come here! A bit pricey and while I understand their menu says they use local and non gmo ingredients but somehow it doesn't quite measure up to my expectations. read more

She decided to test her limits and ordered the original size; don't make the same mistake! 2/3 of the bowl is potatoes! Terry's is an excellent place for breakfast in Penticton. It was great to see a place that was open early (5:30) aside from Denny's. The service was friendly and from the time I ordered to the time I received my food was less than 10 minutes. I ordered the BC bowl which consisted of real potatoes fried to perfection, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar, onions and topped with a unique spicy hollandaise sauce. The portion was huge. This place is overpriced. It is a little nuts that most of the meals are around $15-23. Especially considering that breakfast food is one of the cheapest foods to buy and the easiest to make. The breakfast bowls are ridiculously big, almost everyone left with take out containers. Not sure who actually eats the leftovers because reheated eggs are grooooss imo. In terms of the meals, they were satisfying in a greasy spoon kind of way. Nothing fancy whatsoever, and sides (like toast, tomato slices, bacon) are quite expensive to add to your meal... makes Vancouver restaurant prices seem like a deal! Honestly, the big breakfast bowls could easily serve 2-3 people and then you could add a side of toast. This is the most affordable (and gastronomically responsible) way to order here. Cold, gross and overpriced food. Really unimpressed. Went here because of the excellent reviews and it was a basic greasy spoon diner. The warmer behind the cash register literally has a plate of precooked bacon and precooked sausage under Saran Wrap. Gross. Took a while to order and food took a very long time. When we finally asked how much longer it would be she immediately brought our meals - they were ice cold. Clearly they'd been forgotten about and left to cool. Cold eggs are no bueno. We asked for them to be remade warm and while the eggs were remade the potatoes were tossed in a microwave which led to soggy, lava hot potatoes. Super disappointing. Won't be back. I'm giving it a 3 because we've been both extremely happy and disappointed on different occasions. it seems to lack consistency. Some quality control is needed. The last two times the issue was the potatoes. The shredded hash browns were cold and over done. The next time, the cubed potatoes were horribly over cooked and hard. I had the BC Bowl... which was a combo of pan fried potatoes with some scrambled eggs on top with chopped onions, tomatoes and bacon (TONS of bacon), and a spicy hollandaise sauce smothering the works (might have been some melted cheese in there too). All this with a side of toast... When I read the other reviews around the web, they all pointed to large portions... so on the menu it was listed as normal size, or smaller. I went for the smaller, and was glad I did. While waiting for our food, we saw a regular portion go by and the 5 of us all dropped our jaws... the thing was HUGE! Easily 2-3 people could have shared it for a good sized breakfast. My smaller size still didn't get all the potatoes finished and 75% of the toast either. The wife had the Grandma's breakfast... 2 eggs (any style), sausage or bacon, and pancakes or toast. She went sunnyside up, with bacon, and pancakes. The bacon was great... eggs done just right... the pancakes... a little of a disappointment. One other person ordered the Grandma, and the other two went for eggs benedict. Husband and I needed breakfast on an Oct Sunday morning, so we decided to give this place a try since we heard they serve big portions. When we walked in the diner, most seats are already taken. We were fortunate that one table was open toward the back. The server immediately attended to our drink needs. The diner has minimal decor, but it is clean and functional. The menu has a lot of breakfast items to offer. Price-wise, it is a bit more expensive than other diners, but we hope the portions offset the price. We were pleasantly surprised that this diner partnered up with True Grain Bakery. Customer service: We decided to order the Big Easy to share ($19). The server was patient and helpful with ordering process. We were able to ask for one brown and one rye toast. Ice water was served promptly upon seating. Kitchen service: We placed our order at 9:00am and the order arrived at 9:26am. Ambience: Like an old diner from the '90s. Portions: It is quite large of a portion as it took two of us to share a Big Easy. Price: I ate half of the Big Easy and that's $8.50. Is it worth $8.50? Portions-wise, yes. Taste-wise, meh... What a find! We where in Penticton for the Spring Wine Festival 2014 and where both cringing at the thought of going to "rhymes with manies". Hopped on to Yelp, our new favourite app, and found Terry's. They have won a ton of awards, and although the wait was a little long the food was homestyle. We shared a Gramdpa and a side of hash browns. So 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 toast and 2 light and fluffy pancakes. I like my coffee a little stronger, but the service was great. They have a spicy hollandaise sauce that I really liked. The portion was more than I could eat (on account of the large portion of potatoes). I would recommend this dish. The coffee was also good enough to mention and out server kept As others mentioned the portions were large. In fact I saw a couple tables sharing the breakfast bowls. Unfortunately: This place only gets a 3 star from me because their pricing is out of line. My breakfast was 16.99 plus 1.99 for the chunky potatoes. For this type of place I would have expected to pay up to 12 bucks. Also, the washrooms were needing an upgrade. If you decided to flip the switch for the fan(which my kids did) you ended up an unusably loud device worth a laugh. Bottom line : Food and service we good but not worth the prices. Terry's is a warm, welcoming and hearty place for eating. While it appeared there were many locals dining, we were greeted and made to feel at home. The menu was extensive and full of a variety of choices and I was most delighted to be able to have gluten free toast with my breakfast. The staff were most accommodating and happily made a few modifications to our meals without challenge. Food was wonderfully hot, delicious and filling.
