The park signage is visible once you reach the right street- Old Church Av. Out tour guide was very knowledgeable. She knows details of the estate and the family. The free tour is being offered from Friday to Sunday only, every half hour schedule from 10 - 4 PM. The house size from outside was very deceiving, it looks small, when we went for a tour, we cant believe how many rooms were built inside. The house is on its original form, minor renovation was made. The grounds are maintained. We visited the family cemetery at the northwest end corner of the property. It was amazing to see the family of different generation's tombstomes. It was a privilege be on the estate of one of the Declaration of Independence signors.

We waited about ten minutes outside for the people before us to come out. It was a bit cloudy when we were there and I'd love to go back on a clear, sunny day. It was still a neat experience. The educator who showed us the camera obscura was fantastic. He had lived in Greenport for decades and gave us so much history and really fleshed out the experience. It was so much cooler seeing it and hearing stories about the area. This is well worth the $1 it will cost you and would be neat for kids as well. The sign said the it was open from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. this was on a weekday. I believe they are open weekends and weekdays in the summer and only weekends the rest of the year.

Not only is it cheap but it is healthy for the ducks and geese. This place also provides tours on weekends. It is a functional mill and a great historical landmark. I often see swan in the area and they would often make nests in the lower basin outside. These double-headed stocks (see pic) are known to both snobbish locals (who see having the pillories only as a status symbol, pretending to be above the lowbrow vibe and fun entertainment factor here), and bottomfeeder, low level criminals, and drunks (who have found themselves in an uncomfortable position of humiliation and reprimand). Passers-by to this post are rare, and the possibility of a crowd gathering here is completely unfathomable: One who is bound here will likely be sobering up the better part of the night in a penance of solitude. . . Time is the corrector of erred judgments here, and I have learned much from the test, though my head, spine, and wrists do not want for a revisiting anytime soon.

Walking among the towering hundred-year-old trees felt magical, almost like stepping back in time. The beach views were incredibly serene, and we even got to witness two deer running freely through the forest, chasing each other. This place is more than just a historic site, it gives you an awe-inspiring feeling. Between the peaceful scenery, rich history, and natural beauty, it felt like we were transported to another time. The house itself can be toured with timed guided tours Friday through Sunday. These open for reservation 9:30a online for the same day and ate usually sold out in minutes so plan accordingly! I can't comment on the house since I did not snag tickets when I naively went. However, the grounds are beautiful and the walk down to the forested loop trail with the beach outlet to the harbor is stunning. There is also a museum onsite that is free to visit and enter. It contains history of the family's home life, initial political career in NY state, and Vice Presidency and Presidency, issues he championed, and post Presidency conservation work and legacy.

I've visited here numerous times for a run in Calverton and it's always a cool feeling to park here and view the fighter jets - F14 Tomcat and A6 Intruder. It's well manicured with parking, plaques detailing the aircraft and histories, some picnic benches, and memorial bricks lining the inside of the park area highlighting those who worked on their many projects in aerospace and aviation. There are running and biking trails from this park out on and around the former 10,000 foot flight test runway. Worth a visit for aviation history buffs if you are out on LI near the area.
