My only complaint is that there was a 1994 New York Rangers hat on display instead of being in the garbage where it belongs. Though there were vendors, not one of them had any strawberry related goods. What I did enjoy was the strawberry shortcake eating contest and the crowning of the strawberry queen (the only two events that made it feel like I was at a strawberry festival). There were also chocolate strawberries being sold as well as strawberry shortcake slices (but I got one for free because I was front row for the eating contest and there were many extra!). Carnival fairs always attract my foodie interests for funnel cake (Fried Dough) and Italian sausage, but sadly no strawberry concoctions hence the name "Strawberry Festival." I've always been skeptical with the response and the quality of this event due to feedback I've received in the past, but I was happy to be a part of it. My favorites were what Alexis had recommended, the caramel fudge from Chocology as well as the Grilled cheese from Cest Cheese. Nicely done guys!!! It was great to see such a fantastic display of wines which were partnered with Rich Mora from Mora's wines - most of the wines were very heavily distributed wines IMO, but there were some gems for folks to enjoy. It was especially nice to see some NoFo wineries being represented as well, Raphael, as an example, who's latest Cab Franc ('13?) was quite nice while walking around. Although this festival has been around for years, this was my first visit on Sunday December 8th,…read more2024. It started off great as we were able to park in the Marina parking lot for free! This festival is geared toward kids and family fun! Pictures with Santa, roasting marshmallows, and ice skating. The Village Center was the site for the "Festival of Trees". Local business themed Christmas trees all decorated for the season. Vendors of all kinds set up their wares here as well as in various locations throughout the village. The highlight of the event are the performers who are dressed up in 19th century Victorian era costumes. Some are stationed at various points, giving out directions. Others are meandering around the village spreading Christmas cheer, "Happy Christmas to you both!" Many stop to talk to and take pictures with the children and their families. We heard they parade down Main Street and stop at the lighting of the Christmas tree. Both activities which I missed...no doubt buying something from a vendor! The weather was unusually balmy for December. It did not take away at all from the cheery Christmas feel. I wish I had known about this event when my children were younger, I definitely would have visited with them. Truth be told, Christmas is my favorite holiday! I had a wonderful time... On Saturday I run errands. I like to come into Port Jefferson and grab a specialty coffee at Starbucks. Starbucks during this weekend is slammed with tweens and parents drinking frappachinos. Parking? Forget about it, every spot is taken. Port Jefferson is a mad house with people trying to get a free marshmallow..... And why do you folks feel the need to get dressed like a Chimmey Sweep?? It was a medical issue that arose. My pregnancy was very high risk and was causing MEDICAL issues. Not just, life happens - which I find to be a huge difference. When you hear life happens, it's like I didn't budget my money or we're moving. But the money I needed back was to pay for medical bills. Had I decided to have that party, I could have gotten incredibly sick and/or harmed my child. 2. I cancelled with 4 months notice - less than 60 days after booking and placing the deposit. This was more than ample time for the company to fill that date with another party. This cancellation gave plenty of time and was shortly after the deposit was place because it was only after I placed the deposit that I even found out I was pregnant much less that it was a dangerous pregnancy. 3. My original conversation with one of the workers led me to believe that they were going to work with me BECAUSE it was medical, and then once it was refused AFTER I was lead to believe - I put in the dispute because that's what I was advised to do by the credit card company. Then after I put through the dispute, I was offered your solution of a different date, which I did attempt to use but then your company ignored me for a long time, then when you finally responded it was to tell me that you didn't do it because of the chargeback. You only offered the solution AFTER the chargeback then rescinded BECAUSE of the chargeback. After 3 years, I do not expect you are able to fix this mess you caused - but I thought you should know that this was not just a "life happens" or a last minute cancellation. I found it completely heartless that you would punish someone for being sick despite the massive notice you were given.
