Tex-Mex is absolutely amazing, and the prices are very reasonable. My favorite is their breakfast, and I will proudly stand by the claim that they have the best grits in Gaston County. The food is consistently delicious. Back when I attended Forestview High, it was the go-to spot after school. The service is always excellent--one time I even brought my puppy, and they gave him a bowl of water. They are truly a staple in the community; after Hurricane Helen, when our power was out, they still had power and served what seemed like over 50 people. I had never seen the restaurant that busy, but despite the long wait, everyone was fed. The atmosphere is perfect, and I can't wait to visit their new location. read more

I've previously had the Southwest Burrito, and on this trip I had the Fajita Chimichanga (pictured). Both items really hit the spot! The food is very reasonably priced for the portion size. And the service is always top-notch! The first time I went, the owner was at the register to take my order and also brought my food out, and she could be used as the perfect example of proper customer service! Very friendly and helpful! And on this most recent trip, my server was every bit as nice and friendly! While the seating inside is limited (the part of the building that Tex-Mex Back Road Grill is located in isn't very large), there's also covered seating outside. I can't say enough amazing things about this place. Let me just tell you that the food is incredible and always consistent. But more so the people who run it. You can just tell they actually care and as someone who has worked in the industry for years, it's SO APPRECIATED!! Taking the 'country way' from Fort Mill, SC to Gastonia on a Saturday morning, I passed this place about breakfast time. I stopped in and got a breakfast burrito 'to go'. Ninemonths ago I reviewed this place and talked about taco Tuesday. Sometimes places like this start to go downhill after a while. However, I just walked in on a rainy snowy Friday night 15 minutes before closing. I wanted a salad in one of their really good taco bowls but they were out. I knew they were trying to close and I told them not to worry about the bowl. However Brandy and her team are awesome. They got me what I wanted. If you haven't tried this place you really need to. Only the sausage and fresh fruit were good. This is the 1st restaurant I've ever known to mess up pancakes (undercooked). The home fries were frozen and terrible. They didn't cook my hub's eggs right. Tiny restaurant and I felt claustrophobic. Service wasn't great either. Tacky, cheesy Mexican decorations. Worst restaurant we've eaten in Gastonia. read more

After moving only a few miles from Tex-Mex Back Road Grill, we've been eager to discover if it was a place we'd frequent but we have been to busy to give it a try until tonight. We ordered the Cajun chicken quesadilla, but substituted the chicken for steak, for $1 extra, money well spent. We also ordered the loaded waffle fries and the Tex-mex bowl. Everything was very good, generous helpings on the quesadillas and the loaded fries, absolutely delicious. What a refreshing change! It's a great place! My family and I have been going supporting this location all the way back when they were Lineberger (I believe that is what they were called before Tex-Mex). Today was the worse. Ordered tacos and there was absolutely no taco seasoning present on any of the meat(4chicken, 4steak, and 4beef). However, we did eat 4 of the tacos think it may be a hit or miss on a few of the tacos in terms of seasoning, but no there just wasn't any seasoning. And I was a little disappointed in the response of the manager that I spoke with. We love this place but it was just a big NO for me today. Hopefully things improve. read more

I wish I had taken photos of our food. We ordered online from the parking lot, which seems ridiculous but with a toddler it was the easiest way. The food was ready literally 10 minutes later. We ordered the Cali burrito with chips and queso, buffalo wings, three tacos, and a kids meal quesadilla. Extremely affordable. The burrito...guys. I'm very pregnant and that thing was tough for me to finish (of course I did finish it). It was amazing! I got steak and ordered it exactly as it came. Its so heavy. It's at least a pound. The tacos were great...it was taco Tuesday so they were $2. We preferred the ground beef on corn tortillas over the steak taco but still. All amazing. My husband loved the wings and they looked huge. This place is twenty minutes from me but all the food made it home in great shape, and I'll be eating there frequently. read more

I ate here for the first time today with a group of friends. The food that I got was nice and warm, it was a great portion and a decent price, it was such a wonderful experience with the food. Friend got a burrito and said that it's absolutely warm and delicious the chips and salsa was fantastic but that queso dip is to die for. We got loaded fries and the ranch dressing taste like golden heaven, but again that cheese dip is killer.
