So my partner and I broke down on I-70, about fifteen miles west of Idaho Springs, and called AAA. Triple-A called Scorpion and they accepted the tow but said that, due to other jobs they'd been called out on, we'd have to wait in the car at the side of the Interstate for 90 to 120 minutes. Well, we weren't thrilled, but we get it: we were in the middle of nowhere, it was evening on a weekend, and it happened to be busy. So we sat down to wait. And we waited. And waited. And when we tried to check in with Scorpion two and a half hours later, no one picked up the phone. So we called AAA again, who contacted the driver eventually, who turned out to have taken some other job and driven all the way out to Rifle or some damn place. It would have been basic human decency to take the tows in the order they came in instead of based on how much they were paying--you know, keeping the promises you make, like your mother taught you when you were four and five and six. (At least, mine did.) Or they could have called and said "This other job is taking longer than expected and we're really sorry, but we're going to be later than we thought," which would have been minimally polite, even if not true. Or they could have had AAA call us and let us know, which would have at least been minimally decent. Or they could have called us themselves and said, "Hey, we got a non-AAA call, which pays better, so you jerks are just going to have to wait 'til we're slow," which would have at least been honest. But they didn't do any of that. They just left us sitting on the side of a mountain in the dark with our thumbs in our asses, waiting for a ride that wasn't even coming. Special bonus: we also had to go to the bottom of the line at the other place AAA called, so we had another wait of over an hour. Which made for more than four hours sitting on the side of the mountain in the dark with no bathrooms or water or food because these cowards took a job but didn't bother to fulfill it. The story of Jim. We found him at the small Shell station in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Jim saved my father and I from a very dangerous and stressful road trip. My dads windshield wiper fluid stopped working and because there were so many holiday travelers and trucks on the road this morning, their vehicles constantly kicked up dirt, mud and snow all over our windshield. We couldn't go more then a couple of exits without having to pull over on the side of the road and spray the window down by hand, just so we could see. Our visibility got so bad that we were forced to turn in to this resort town. We heard from the locals that sometimes a mechanic works at the shell gas station. We have never known a shell to have mechanics, but we didn't have any other option so we drove over there. I walked in an ask for the mechanic. They told me the mechanic for this town won't be back until Monday. Me: "you got to be kidding :(" A man named, Jim, says, "well let me look at it. I've worked on cars throughout my life." After 10 minutes of him scratching his head trying to figure out why our fluid hose wasn't attached to anything, nor could it even reach the wiper fluid tank, He started to think outside the box. He analyzed it from a backwards perspective. He ended up finding the problem and fixed it right there. He wouldn't allow us to pay him at first. I said, "You just saved our ass! You're AWESOME AND We MUST give you something. Please!" We went back and forth. My father and I weren't backing off. Still hesitant, always trying to give us a out, Jim says, "okay, maybe a few bucks so I can get a couple of cheeseburgers ?" He was the most gracious man. He took on our problem, problem of complete strangers and solved it while standing in the cold, wet weather. My dad went to the atm and gave him a $20. Jim seemed so appreciative, as were we of his kindness. Our trip went from highly stressful to relaxing and even quite enjoyable, not to mention, a hell of a lot safer. Scorpion towing scheduled a 12:30 time to tow me, 3.5 hours later they called and said their bigger truck that could tow mine was down. Now I have another hour wait for a new company. They were greedy and accepted the tow job even though they could not do it. Wasted a half day unnecessarily. Their truck was down when the accepted they booked the tow and that prevented other companies from stepping up. read more

In the middle of the night, our car experienced some issues. I called their number and they picked up right away. They even had someone come by within the next half an hour. He also was a mechanic and was able to get my vehicle started right then and there. I'm sure he would not be able to do that for but he put in some extra time. He could have just called it quits and said that I needed To tow it somewhere. They kept in contact with me until he arrived. Best experience with the tow truck so far best service. read more

We had car problems after we stopped in Idaho Springs. We called both AAA and the Infinity help line for assistance. Both contacted Scorpion towing. They got there faster than it took AAA to answer our call. Super nice guy gave us a jump and we were on our way. He even waited to make sure we were able to drive away! Infinity told us we needed to be towed into Denver which luckily wasn't the issue rather just a dead battery. read more

Awesome guy named Jim from Scorpion Towing (sent by AAA) came to our rescue today! Just east of the tunnel, east bound on I-70 a yellow dog was wandering all over the freeway and cars were swerving and stopping. We ended up on the skinny inside shoulder next to the concrete barriers with our bumper folded down into the tire of the truck impeding any movement. That part of the road can just be nasty!! Once Jim got there he said, "lets get you out of this traffic and then figure out what to do with that bumper". He quickly got my truck up on the tow truck and drove it down to the next exit to a safe spot and then proceeded to use some creative ingenuity to pull the bumper away from the tire so that we could continue on our way!!! Our truck puttered out around Downieville/Georgetown. AAA hooked us up with Jim and his team. It was a busy evening for them, so we had to wait around for a bit due to our need of a tow truck cab that could handle my family of five. During the wait, Jim walked me through some steps to try and get us going again. Very helpful. The tips worked for a bit. In the end we had to wait for the tow. Greg, our ninja tower, as my wife called him, could not have been kinder and more professional. He drove all of us and our truck over two passes late at night. i was driving on i70 at night when my drive shaft completely fell off on a dark corner. jim came and picked me up and totally risked his life on the side of that road. they were very honest and actually willing to help me throughout the whole experience. jim definitely worked with me and told me my best options. thank you guys so much for being awesome!!! read more
