So when I landed in Dallas the car attendant told me to get BBQ. What he didn't say was get Texas Best Smokehouse and I believe that is where I got it wrong. The Yelp App allowed you to order directly from this place and honestly I've only done that twice before so I tried. Plus, it was close to my hotel. Ok, I know what you're thinking...gas station BBQ? In Texas no less?!? I gotta say, it's actually decent. We stopped here to use the Tesla Supercharger that's attached to the building, and we decided to give it shot while we waited. The portions were very generous. The guy threw some meat in the box, grabbed some more, and then grabbed even more! He did this for everything in the box, and by the end the lid would barely close! We watched him cut the brisket right off the whole slab of meat, and it was tender enough that our plastic forks easily cut through (no knives needed). The pulled pork was flavorful and better than I was expecting. BBQ sauce was slathered all over both meats, and you can choose from mild or spicy. We chose mild, which was sweet and well balanced. The sides were just ok, but I am picky and rarely find outstanding sides at even the best BBQ joints in the area. The price was great, coming out to $19 total with the drink (before discounts). They give a 20% military discount, which is way more than most! Finally, the facilities are very nice. The BBQ part is in a convenience store for the Texaco gas station. It has LOTS of stuff to choose from, clean and spacious bathrooms, and nice cold air conditioning for that Texas heat. While you can get better BBQ elsewhere in the DFW area, this place is worth eating at if you're already here for gas or a charge. read more

Wow! This is actually inside the new Texaco station here in Grapevine. I was shocked, as I was not expecting what I found! Not only do they have great barbecue, and the sides to go with it, the atmosphere is very nice! I included a (tasteful) picture of their restroom (hopefully that doesn't offend anybody!), only because I could not believe how nice it was. Is it just me, or are barbecue prices are awfully high? This one's no exception to that rule, however it was great barbecue! With a great selection of sides. Furthermore, the barbecue place is an extension of the convenient store (inside the Texaco station). It is clean, very country modern, with very friendly folks, and a great selection of everything! So, you're not just limited to what the Barbeque Restaurant has to offer! Additionally, there's a car wash here and they're offering special deals this month (May) for new customers. This is one of the newest BBQ restaurants in the area, and with reviews all over the board, I decided I had to go and see for myself. It is adjacent to a gas station, and gives one the feel of a miniature Buckee's, with fudge and jerky, etc., several gas pumps and a large number of electric charging stations. There is ample dining space, and there are actually three restaurants side-by-side with pizza and sandwiches along with BBQ. The service was very friendly and patient as we all decided on our meats and sides. My go-to for a first visit is usually brisket and ribs, so that's the direction I took on this occasion. "The Cowboy", as is it called, is a 2 Meat dinner with 2 sides and is $14.99. The Cowgirl (1 Meat and 2 Sides) is $12.49. They also offer Baked Potatoes (Barrel and Loaded Barrel), meats by the pound, and Sandwiches - which seem to be the best deal at $6.99 and additional $2.49 to add fries. There are also Family Packs, the largest being 3 1 lb. meats, 3 double sides, 8 rolls and sauce for $59.99. I thought the portions were good, although others got smaller ribs than I received. The ribs had a thick crust that was pretty strong and a bit salty, but they were tender and came off the bone well. The brisket was also tender - a little dry in parts - but if you like your brisket lean, it's a good choice. Those in my group that got the spicy sausage said it was their favorite. They offer a wide selection of sides, including the typical baked beans, mac n cheese and the like. I chose a cheesy diced potatoes that were quite good and a cold broccoli salad that was good as well. Overall, it's a good option if you're in the area, especially if you want to stop for lunch and charge your electric car while you eat. I'm pretty tough on BBQ ratings because there is so much great BBQ to compare to, so don't be dissuaded by a 3 Star rating. There's a lot of good about this place, so give it a try for yourself. read more

"Texas Best" BBQ implies, just that, that you are Texas' best BBQ, and I can tell you that while this place did not suck, it is in no way even close to Texas Best BBQ. Upon entering my expectations were high, because, well you know.. Those expectations were not met. Service, just ok, nothing to brag about. I was the only customer and I was still not greeted or served immediately. The transaction of ordering and paying was just that, transactional and not warm or friendly. I ordered a Turkey Breast Sandwich Dinner with Barbecue Beans and Peach Cobbler. The servings were rather small for the 12.49 I was charged. Seriously, I was astounded at how little turkey my sandwich had in it. The bread was blah as well and served as no compliment to the meat inside of it. The sauce, just ok. On a positive note, the turkey was tender. In fairness, I might have stretched and given this place 3 stars if I had felt they really tried or cared I was there as again, they were not terrible just FAR from the "Best" in Texas, or even the "Best" on the street they are on. They are the closest to the hotels in the area, so they may fool some but probably not. I love this gas station & it is convenient for me to charge my Tesla & have a quick bite to eat. It reminds me of a mini buc-ee's in all it has to offer from all flavors of jerky , popcorn & so much more! It has souvenirs galore & tons of fresh food from sushi & sandwiches. On this day, I tried the brisket tacos & they were terrible as the people cutting the brisket literally just chopped up fat. It was 95% fat & 5% meat. I didn't see this place in yelp but kept driving past looking for dinner. I was staying at the nearby Marriott / Bass Pro / Grapevine Mills area and there's not much to pick from past 7pm. I took a chance- was not disappointed. Friendly service. Got the brisket and chicken, pinto beans nice and jalapeño-y. Cornbread and coleslaw. It's better than any bbq restaurant back home and I know it's not the Texas platinum standard but it was really good! The gas station store section is huge and looks like a mini fancy buccees. This was disappointing. The food was cold...the team didn't seem to know much about what the combos were and my "chopped beef" was mostly fat and gristle on a bun instead of meat. The corn lacked seasoning as well. The worst thing was when the guy handed me my drink cup...he wiped his hands on his shirt and then stuck his fingers well INSIDE my drink cup. Best shouldn't be in the name of this restaurant. The brisket was extremely tough couldn't cut it with a plastic fork and knife. The macaroni definitely was over cooked by about 10 minutes. The loaded mashed potatoes was ok. Here is a tip for the owner of this place smoke your brisket lower and slower. My suggestion is smoke your meat at 200 degrees for 18 to 24 hours. Add more salt and pepper. This will bring out more of the flavor. You would think living in Texas we would be swimming in good BBQ. read more

This is an incredible new establishment (2021). Under the canopy you will find over ten clean, easy-to-use gas pumps with average gas prices [Texaco with Techron]. The gas prices can be lowered if a car wash is included. Tip: get the car wash! Incredible! Cleaned my SUV more than any automated car wash I have ever been in. Super friendly staff, food is amazing, and atmosphere inside the stores reminds of a Buc-ess. 1st time here - the name should say Texas' mediocre bbq. Went for a the Texas tacos with brisket. Came with two sides. 12.49 total. Tacos are street taco sized. The brisket was not terrible, but I can promise you it ain't ' the best'. Hot sauce tasted stale and was hot. Bbq sauce not spicy was a better choice to top the tacos with. Green beans out of a can and so-so. Baked beans not bad - maybe the pinto beans are better? For 12:00 noon the place was fairly empty. Hate to see a newer business go under so they better step up their game. If it was ' Texas Best' it would be packed with a line out the door. Those are some big shoes to fill! read more

This place is located inside of a gas station so the seating is like cafeteria or mall food court. The dining area is very clean and comfortably quiet at lunch time (thats when I was there). I ordered 2 meats plate (sausage and sliced brisket). I requested for the top meat brisket because I hate eating lean, dry "picture perfect" 95% lean brisket with that skinny flap of fat at the top. The cook points at the flap of fat at the top and I didn't want to explain our different views on what "top meat" was. I already knew that I was in for basic, good-enough, and very mediocre BBQ. So here is the rest of the review: 1. Dry dinner roll. 2. The green beans were cooked with bacon and tomatoes, tomatoes over-powered the bacon and made the dish sour. 3. Sausage is mediocre. I was so frustrated I told them not to cook my tacos that I would rather go hungry than deal with the mess. 2 minutes later he says are you ready to pay for your tacos? I cancelled my order so what are you talking about? I went ahead and paid for them since they made them. I get home and it's terrible! No seasoning or flavor at all on the meat or my husband patty melt. AND tons of fat in the tacos. By the time I removed all the fat I barely got 2 bites of each. Will NEVER go back! A friend recommended this new place and I decided it was worth trying since our fav bbq place closed. Went at 5 to carry out dinner. The guy cutting brisket needs lessons. Or a sharper knife. Or both. They weigh the meat. I find it hard to believe that we received 1/4 pound of brisket or chicken. Maybe this guy can't read the scales. And they need to trim it. I got coleslaw and it was acceptable. Most of the other sides, and there were plenty to choose from, looked like they had been sitting there all day. I got the smashed potatoes for the second side. They were actually good. I did not tip. It was carry out and the meal service was not great. I wouldn't say don't go here. Someone please teach them how to slice brisket against the grain. They also have no knowledge about the anatomy of a brisket. I asked for top flap and I could not even talk them through it. Ate here 3 times before reviewing, first time I got lucky and liked the bark and peppery flavor. Second time tough as a boot. Third time cut with the grain after asking for top flap and it was inedible, did not even give it to the dogs, threw it in the trash.
