I was convinced I had a heel fracture (been there, done that, and the reason I already owned the scooter the boot LoL). I was in so much pain I couldn't put weight on my right foot. Honestly, finding a podiatrist was my last resort, fearing the worst. I found Dr. Khan and Lonestar Podiatry and they got me in same day. After a thorough exam, he diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciitis.. sounded like a Harry Potter spell to me. He gave me a steroid shot in my heel and I got 90% pain relief on the spot! Dr. Khan also gave me easy stretching instructions and a PT prescription to help my heel heal. Six weeks later, I'm nearly back to my normal routine, I feel like this whole thing is manageable. Shoutout to the amazing front desk team, too--friendly, efficient, and total pros when it comes to booking, insurance, and not judging you for limping in like a character from Pirates of the Caribbean. Background: I joined a flag football league, and I practice some with my coworkers. My coworker probably meant to take me out with the football. But my quick reflexes meant that I instead caught it poorly and snapped a piece of my pinky bone off - aka an avulsion fracture. Yay bones. (Also jk about my coworker meaning me harm lol.) 7 weeks of flag football games = no problem. 1 morning practice sesh = no bueno. After having that confirmed at urgent care, I came to see Dr. Vo about what treatment etc would look like. + 4 weeks in a curved (natural curve) splint + 2 weeks of practicing flexibility + then squeezing some balls until I restrengthen my pinky (and get your mind outta the gutter! Haha) His demeanor is described spot-on by the other reviewer. He's a whirlwind, but listens to you and is great with answering any questions you may have. And I just stop going because I didn't want to be down so long 4 to 8 weeks off and I couldn't afford to be off work with know way to pay my bills! I was referred to Dr Krumerman from a friend. I needed a 2nd opinion on my back pain from a…read moreprevious surgeon's office that just kept saying everything was great from a prior fusion in 2023. I brought in my MRI and with that Dr Krumerman believed that I wasn't totally fused from my first surgery. A myleogram CT was ordered and come to find out I wasn't totally fused hence my back pain and issues. I'm about 4 weeks post op with my surgery with Dr Krumerman who redid my fusion at L4-5 and fused L5-S1. I'm very happy with my results. No more sciatica! Pain is minimal with just the normal post op pain. All of Dr Krumerman's staff are very nice and helpful via email or phone. The front office staff are also very friendly. I'll drive an hour to see Dr Krumerman again!

We got there and they handed me a huge stack of paperwork to fill out. By page 2 my right hand was numb and by page 5 my right hand and elbow were HURTING. A Physicians Assistant came in and asked questions, did the blood pressure, weight (gasp), the "follow my finger with your eyes," etc. and then in walks "TheAccentMan." He's tall, had curly dark hair and a VERY strong accent. I wish I could tell you what kind of accent it was, but I have no clue. He starts out telling me that he usually does surgery when the fallen tonsil is even with or past the C1 vertebre. Mine is touching the top of C1 so I am in sort of a limbo. He agreed with "TheCuteOne," that it didn't look like things were too crowded in there *but* he seemed a little more concerned about the involuntary twitching and tingling and numbness in my arms.. the times when it is there and I hadn't just sneezed. He said that he wanted to see an MRI of my brain before making any big decisions on my care or the plan. I mentioned that I had an MRI of my brain last October but not only was he not impressed about the fact that it was done 10 months ago, he also didn't like Open MRIs. He says he's going to send me to a regular MRI for a brain scan and he would give me a prescription for valium. He said "take one when you leave home and take the other when you See The Machine." My stomach starts singing "rolling rolling rolling, keep them doggies rolling." He then starts vividly explaining the surgery to me and how painful it is during recovery after he slices all the muscles in my neck and how I probably wanted to avoid the surgery if it wasn't absolutely necessary. I was sitting on the doctor's table and the more he explained about the surgery the weaker and more nauseated I felt. I had that hot flash feeling like I was going to pass out and I quickly laid down on the table. At least, I had a table to lay down on. My mother, sitting upright in a chair next to a wall with my dad at her side started felling the same way. Both of us were just about ready to pass out when he finished his story. So, we know that he probably doesn't think surgery is the answer... but we also know that there is enough symptoms for him to want to look at things from another angle before making a decision. ---------------------- Dr. Loyola, after seeing a second set of MRIs, decided that I wasn't a candidate for the surgery at that time... but he was the one that made it very clear to me that I needed to have updated MRIs once a year and to watch for symptom progression. Dr. Loyola did a posterior fossa decompression for a friend of mine, and hasn't done a Chiari surgery since then. He told another friend Chiari was nothing. Luckily I didn't let him cut my brain open... but I found another surgeon who did and believed that Chiari was something and that I was a candidate for surgery and saved my life. He made me feel like I had no reason to be there or to take up any of his time with my knee pain. He asked me what I was doing there since my x-rays looked normal. He did ask a few questions, but in a humoring me kind of way. He never addressed me by my name. The entire visit took less than 10 minutes. He basically told me I had to live with my knee pain forever. He suggested a few rounds of therapy and had a mocking expression on his face the entire time. The staff was wonderful but he was rude and cold. He didn't even say goodbye when he left the exam room. Terrible experience.
