Decided to come by for lunch on a Sunday. This place has changed a lot. Still the western style decor that not too much western, but just enough. The restaurant is no longer as big as it used to be, no train, no popcorn, sign of the time I suppose. Mark was our waiter. He was friendly and attentive. I ordered burger and asked for sourdough bread instead. Burger arrived hot off the grill cooked as request and in the requested bread. Fries were hot. Wife ordered a Cajun chick sandwich whose she enjoyed. The kiddo ate some really tasty chicken strips and fries. Drinks were never empty and we weee offered drinks to go. Food was amazing, customer service was EPIC. I will be back 100% with guests this is the place to get a burger or steak with a cold beer. Pricing is below other bbq spots but service is way above and beyond. My husband and I I stopped in for date night on Friday. The waitress seated us quickly and took our drink order as well as our food order. The bartender, Amanda, delivered them in under 5 minutes to our table. She was quick and very friendly. Drinks were good and priced fairly, about $8 each. This is where the good review ends. The service and food were abysmal. We ordered the brisket dinner and half rack of rib dinner. The waitress never came back to check on us. Neither did the other waiter who was manning the front desk. LThe server who delivered our food noticed we were done rather quickly and stopped by and that's when we asked for two boxes. My rib dinner was awful. Minimal sauce the red potato salad tasted funky and the beans were sweet but tasteless. I ate one rib and the garlic bread. My husband had the brisket he says it was tender and I even tried a bite Hoping it would be better. But no. The meat had a funny taste and I don't mean from slow bbqing. It totally lacked any bbq flavor, please don't rely on the sauce to give you that flavor. It can't be duplicated. He held the same opinion for his sides as I did. So I have been trying to go to this place for years. It always looks closed and there is never any advertisement that I have ever seen over the years for this place. I ended up having lunch here with a friend the other day and walked into a small but cute bar with seating and booths all the way around. The menu is pretty good but I do think they could give more of an explanation of what the dishes are or what's in them. That is lacking. The guy that was waiting on us was very nice, the decor is very Bar like, but cute. I only ordered a steak salad with bacon and charged extra to put 5 slices of cucumber on my salad!!!!! My lunch companion ordered a burger and fries, which she said was very good. I will come back here and try again with a steak next time, we will see. This place is still up for debate. read more

Definitely NEVER going to this place again! We walked in and they had us waiting to be seated then they had us wait over 20 min and no one came to take our order. I clearly saw a male waiter serving some food to another table next to us, so I went up to him and kindly let him know we're ready to order and that we have been waiting for a long time! he said oh I just got here I'm not working yet. Gave it another chance and found some things that we really like. My suggestion if you want a good meal is order a side of onion rings which we did to start, then order the baby back pork ribs. That comes with two sides and my recommendation is that you make both of them the baked beans because those are some of the most perfect baked beans I've had in years, a perfect balance of sweet and sour which really make the taste buds pop! Our waitress was Destiny and she's awesome, super accommodating, and makes sure that you really enjoy your meal. We followed her from another restaurant where she used to work, Pepe El Toro, and so now we're back eating with her because she's working here. For desserts we ordered Strawberry Shortcake and also the chocolate brownie with ice cream on top. On the latter I liked the gooieness of the warm brownie. Our preference was the strawberry shortcake. Dessert was a difficult choice because the mud pie and the bread pudding with ice cream also sounded really good. I guess that's all the excuse we need to come back next time. :-) ----------------- Unposted from past: OK, back to four stars as they are back in my good graces. We shared a dinner salad with homemade blue cheese dressing and addition of onion to start with and that was actually pretty good. I wasn't crazy about having a menu board staring at me the second I walked in the front door. I was hoping to be seated and handed a menu. But thanks to the pandemic I guess times change. A person came from the back and explained that we order, pay and then would be seated. Immediately this person asked what we wanted. WOW, not even given a few minutes to look over the menu. So we ordered a few barbecue sandwiches and we're seated. In under five minutes our food was served. Our host / server noticed me taking a picture of the train track that sits around the dining area, above everyone. He turned it on for a lap or two then turned it off. Why not let it run for a while? No sooner we are done with our meals, hardly set out forks down, boom someone was taking out plates away. My first experience with Texas Cattle Company was not a good one. I arrived just before opening and waited outside with others. We were let in at 11AM, but informed the wait staff was not there yet. However, they would still seat us. A full 20 minutes later and just as I was about to walk out, the staff arrived. Looking back, I should have! The waitress was fast, pleasant and efficient, but the food is what is important. One look at the menu and you will see there were no prices on it! You are basically ordering and then get a bill at the end. Any decent restaurant would have comped my Coke after waiting half an hour for their staff to get going. but no. I had the HALF rack of baby back ribs with fries that cost $40. The ribs were positively inedible. They were so dry, you could barely chew or swallow them. One rib and done. It's positively shameful to call this Texas BBQ. Fries were great, drinks were cold, but all in all it was a huge disappointment. I've been looking for some good ribs here in Lancaster, I did not feel like driving down the hill to get some so wanted to try Texas cattle and was told they would be delicious but sorry to say they were the worst I've had, made an order and was told they would be done in 10 min? 10 min for ribs, cmon. First before I criticize let me say how amazing and quick the staff were and if it wasn't for them they would get one star for their food and ordering counter right at the door. Our food came out fast and hot. They gave us refills quickly and often. This was such a fast food feel coming in right to a counter to order food and nowhere for people to line up behind you in line while waiting to order, just bunched up at the door. That made us feel rushed because there was a bunched up line behind us and we couldn't look at the menu properly up on the wall. Then they quickly ask you for a tip after ordering. I want to give a tip after I eat, after we are served, after we see how the service goes. The food is just so so. In their defense all we had were hamburgers and hotdogs so maybe a steak or some tri-tip would've been better. Their hotdog is huge and mushy. Not all beef, totally tasteless. Their chili is so-so. Kind of tastes canned with additives. Their fries were nice and salty. Nobody complained about their hamburgers but nobody ate all of their hamburgers. They took a lot of their dining room area out (with no seating for large groups now) and it looks like half of it is a bar now. We peaked in there and they had a big screen TV with 4 panels to make up a huge screen but only one panel was bright and the other three dim. There may still be large seating in the third other room but a huge party was in there so I'm not sure if it's just for huge parties or if it's normally opened for dining. Where do I even start ! Me and my girlfriend were looking for something new to try in the AV as we have been to every big chain restaurant out here. We always overlooked this small family restaurant, and let me tell you we have been missing out ! Terrible on all fronts! First off, its not a restaurant anymore, its like McDonald's where you order food and drinks at the counter and then sit down. No wait staff, no bartenders. There was maybe 2 other people in there besides us and it was a saturday afternoon. The most terrible part is them tricking us into paying an additional $12 for a service fee. The receipt showed us as 2 single people in a party of 25, well, the bottom of the receipt said all groups of 20 or more get an automatic gratuity charged to them. We were only 2, it cost us 77 dollars for 2 burgers and 2 beers. The only reason we stayed and actually ate the overcooked burgers was because my friend used to go there with his parents when he was little and he wanted to relive the memories. The service was terrible too. We asked for them to turn on the nfl game and the guy who changed the channel kept talking to us like we were children because we didn't know what channel it is on on his cable service. After that he turned the radio on and left the room. That made it pretty hard to hear the game. We were the only people in the room and we were paying a hefty amount too so why he turned the radio on is so disrespectful. He was also complaining about the price of the nfl package is on direct tv being 13,000 bucks and now he pays 300 on you tube, like bro, who cares?! The food came out fast, which I guess was nice but since the burger patties were hockey pucks, it seemed like they over cooked the last guys burgers and just gave them to us. Then the dude comes back and turns the volume down ALL THE WAY on the tvs! We were the only people in the bar, I dont know why he thought that was cool. My buddy wanted to complain to the manager but we were pretty sure the dude was the manager. The best part of the whole deal was that it got so bad it became funny.
