It's been a fantastic school for our family over the past few years. It's a small school that feels like a homeschool co-op. The experience varies tremendously based on each teacher for elementary but we've been very fortunate with excellent teachers. The math program is very good. Students are given the opportunity to skip grades it capable. Class sizes are very small (often 10 or less per grade) and kids receive plenty of individual attention. However, like any school, parent involvement is still important. The facilities could use upgrades and the restrooms would benefit from being kept cleaner. read more

As a former student I agree with many of the negative reviews here. It looks like not much has changed. I attended this school from 1st through 8th grade and now I'm in my 30s. They are still owned by the same people it seems. Back then there was already a high teacher turnover rate and my experiences here ultimately pushed me away from religion altogether. I endured relentless bullying after 5th grade including from staff's children and older students, while teachers looked the other way. I also dealt with derogatory name-calling and shaming from both peers and staff. In 7th grade I was pressured into signing a contract without my parents' knowledge after administrators decided I wasn't "the kind" they wanted at their school. What triggered the contract in the first place was my MySpace at the time. I had a tank top on in my profile picture that supposedly accentuated my chest mind you I was 12. Eventually I was expelled, for something as small as kissing a boy on the cheek, while far more serious behavior from other students were overlooked. Looking back, I wish my parents had never paid tuition here. I found more peace, acceptance, and quality education in Katy ISD public schools than I ever did at this private school. Save your money, and if you are set on private school, try anywhere but here. They don't advocate or empathize with their students. You either fit their mold or you're an outcast. read more

Texas Christian School...This school ruined our lives. My oldest son (8 y/o, 3rd Grade) was so far behind academically, no other private school would accept him, which blew my mind because he was on honor roll for 3 years straight. But if you look at the curriculum, you'll understand why. It's crap. I didn't even get one update on the whole school year. When I asked the principal how he was doing, she straight up said she didn't know. There is no parental involvement at this school. My youngest son (5y/o, K4) was treated like nothing and yelled at all the time by his pre-k teacher. He was held back from starting Kindergarten, so he spent TWO YEARS IN K4, only to still not be able to say his ABC's at 6 years old. YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ASKED ME WHY THE SCHOOL DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO ME ABOUT THIS BEING CONCERNING?! SO MANY!! He's also severely speech delayed and when I asked the "principal" if I could have a therapist come in every week to work with him, she shot that down. She kept telling me he was right in line with the other kids, only to be held back and then KICKED OUT of the school. His K4 teacher also told the kids about the plane crash and how people died and he had nightmares for months. I don't find that an appropriate story to share with 4-6 year olds. They made my son seem like a screw up and made him into one, then kicked him out after school ended so it would be next to impossible to find him a new school. This is a school run by a family and I've picked up that its just for their family. They just have a few other kids to help pay the teacher's salaries. The high schoolers are mixed with all grade levels down to the 2 year olds which is not a sensible situation at all. In fact, they encourage it with their "Tiger Buddy" program and there have been incidents at this school. They do have some sports teams and they definitely prioritize that over anyone/anything else. There is no communication between the teacher and parent other than to tell you how awful your kid is. They're rude and two-faced. The teacher turnover is extra high. The uniforms are expensive and terrible quality as well. It's also not a very clean school. The teachers have to clean their own classrooms. Maybe if they didn't have to do that after class, they could have time to communicate with parents or make notes to send home. I could keep going and going but you get my point.... Sending my kids here was the biggest regret I've made as a mother. read more

As a volunteer at TCS, I can tell you that this school has staff and teachers that absolutely love the Lord. They work hard for their students and do everything they can to engage and encourage learning in a fun way. I am always helping teachers with activities. If you want a family, loving, fun learning environment for your child, TCS will give you that. read more

First of all, I understand private schools are a business, however, Texas Christian operates more as a business and less as an educational institution. We are in a pandemic! Things aren't normal. Yet, the administration of TCS, is operating business as usual. In uncertain times where everyone is having to change, TCS is refusing to change or adjust. They are literally putting my child in danger of having to repeat the 9th grade because they are refusing to give the public school her report card. How asinine is that in a pandemic. I understand, under normal circumstances, how withholding grades is the only way a private school can ensure payment, however, we are not in normal times. We paid full tuition though she did not receive any educational instruction except for one week in March. We've paid full tuition for the whole year even though my daughter's 9th grade class was combined with the 10th grade class without our knowledge or consent. The school is no longer able to provide the services for which we signed up for yet and are paying for but when it comes to enforcing their policy on paying for the full semester before records will be released, they are fully enforcing it. So how can they call themselves a Christian school; meaning they follow the teachings of Jesus Christ? Where is the compassion? I must say this is not a hateful review by an angry parent, this is a reality check for parents who are considering this school. As Mark Cuban said, how you treat people in this pandemic will determine how you are viewed forever. My daughter loved her classmates and her teachers. The administration is what is driving people away. The teachers are always kind and seem to really care. Some have given my daughter rides home, held sleepovers at their homes for students and likewise, my husband has volunteered helping the tennis coaches and I have driven the volleyball team to and from games in my own personal vehicle. These are different times when every business is being accommodating but not Texas Christian. Pay for services you aren't getting or allow your daughter to wrongfully fail her 9th grade year -- this is the choice they are giving me in the times of COVID-19. I couldn't be any more disappointed by the administration's actions. It's truly a tragedy and the picture of pure injustice. read more

This is school of Evil. Not Christian. Here is our story with this horrible school. Our niece is from Vietnam and she was attending this school for her 11th grade. She was not happy this study environment and she felt isolate whenever she goes to school. It was a huge presure for her. As her aunt, i dont want to see my niece to have that much of pressure and stress when she goes to school. I contacted student office cordinator name Becky. She was totally nice and helpful at the beginning with all of our concerns and supports. We told her that we would find another school which my niece wants to go and like better. Becky was totally fine with it and suggested us to do so. So, I contacted the The Faith West Academy and we got the next day appoitnment with them for an interview and tests. My niece went to The Faith West Academy, spent a couple hours face to face interview with them and they accepted her for 11th grade because her English and knowledges are able to handle that level of education totally fine. We paid for her enrolment fee and get her documents transfered from The Texas Christian to The Faith West Academy. And now, Becky showed her true face. I went back to The Texas Christian to talk to Becky for a refund on the tuition. By the time I got to the office, she knew that my niece were accepted. She changed her face expression and her voices like 360 degrees. She was talking with a attitude of that i am not welcome here in her office and she refused to give us the money back. I totally agreed with another 1 star review on here for the same money issue that they have with this school. I understand this is a business, but this kind of business is to raise a good moral character for young generation and teach them the right way to do. Because of all this, i would just say that they dont care about the education at all, all they care is the money. They will be nice to you when they see that you are able to pay for the price. Come on people, for the faith of God that they are following and for the dignity of the education career that they are doing. I will find any way to get the refund back for my niece. That is her parents' hard working money for their kid education with a hope of better and brighter future. Look at what this shool have done to her. Our experience with TCS has been great. After a really bad experience at a public school, we decided to enroll our daughter at TCS. This is not a huge school, but the teachers we had this year were excellent. Yes, they have sometimes fundraising events, and they ask parents to contribute. You give what you can, and there is no consequence if you cannot participate (compared to some other schools we went to!!). I don't think this is any different than the other private schools. The tuition is super affordable compared to other schools, and most importantly, your kid will be challenged, learn a lot in a friendly Christian environment. From March - May, the school used Zoom classes for remote learning. The student - teacher ratio is good, and it worked as good as can be, considering the COVID madness. Again, the teachers were there for us. No problem with communicating with principal and staff. read more

TCS has exceeded our expectations. We had heard good things and knew this is where we wanted our children to be but we are more than pleased with the results. When you go to a birthday party of 5 year olds and your daughter is the one spelling "happy", when others can't even read it, you know you have found a great school. If I could put no stars I would. If you seen Spongebob Squarepants you see how Mr. Krabs is really greedy for money, well that's how this school is. I came in the 2nd semester of 8th and figured it was time to go around April. I was ready to go back to public school. The school year went perfect I tried out for volleyball and did another season for tennis. But that's when it went down hill. After the sports it just went horrible. I went to a sleepover with my best friend with 2 other girls. The sleepover went great I had an awesome time. A few days later, those 2 girls were talking about me and my best friend. We weren't having a good day and I told my friend some stuff and these 2 are mocking us. Then in class come in my face and be fake. There are at least 3 teachers, that will spread your business to everyone. You screw up, you do one thing wrong the whole school KNOWS! My friend had a nose piercing it was so small it looked like a pimple. This teacher named Ms. Romero is 2 faced. She told my friend that the nose ring wouldn't hurt anything and she should be fine because it's small. But then saying to Mrs. Soliz on picture day for soccer, "Do you think she should take that out, I think she should". Just very disgusting. When we left campus she's spilling 2 students business to us me and my friend are just looking at each other like that's not our business at all! She's also 2 faced because I missed ONE question because I had read it wrong. This grown woman is telling my grade to a whole other student and I'm just like the student you should be discussing this with, is ME the student and that's it. I told my parents that, and it was the end of the line for them they were DONE! My friend's parents were forced to also pay for what they all ready payed and the schools basically saying, "We don't care there is a virus you still have to pay". They told us every other private school is making people paying during the pandemic. LIARS! My friend's mother called every other private school, and they all said that they are not! Mrs. Soliz lies saying my father walked in the school loud and disrespectful. With him only calmly saying, "She's not returning for the fall". That was their trigger phrase. They've lost so many people for the same reasons, being greedy! We still get mail to this day, from them saying you have to pay for the rest of the year. THE REST OF THE YEAR TO A SCHOOL I NO LONGER GO TO. Wow. They should change the name to "Texas School". There is no "Christian" in this school at all. I'm sorry for y'all's lost for Mrs. P, but y'all don't have to act this way. I'm positive those reviews with 5 stars, are because Mr. & Mrs. P ran Texas Christian School not Mrs. Soliz. Parents I'm begging you, tell your children and teens, make sure they screenshot and save all of their grades and report cards. Not record, but jot everything down the date, the time, the class that an incident happened to them. They will be saved a lot of time when they want to leave this school. My mother nor my best friend's mother got a signed contract that they've signed. The school locked me and my mother out you can see my mother'a review Kim Tardy. You will see how they locked and blocked my account. It's like a trap, and they begged my parents, "What can we do for Madison to stay?" Y'all can't do anything. When my counselor from Langham called TCS told them, "We still have unfinished business". - Again talking about money, MONEY MONEY MONEY. They violated Texas School Laws and still are! Like y'all do it to y'all selves, y'all really do, it's like they're asking to get shut down. A girl who's in 10th grade, is going through the same thing like me because she's leaving. 8th grade, it was the last day of school, 2 students were literally, LITERALLY THROWN OUT of the school for "not paying" no it was actually because they wanted to leave the school. Teachers threw their yearbooks on the floor and told them to get there stuff and wait for a ride and leave. I saw the frustration in those teens eyes and those were my friends. So many people left after that year and so many people are leaving after this year, but it's the school's fault really. My favorite teachers were Mrs. Marrero, Mrs. Castro, Mr. Wachsman, Coach Eye, Mr. & Mrs. Rankin, Mr. A and Mr. P. and so many other amazing teachers and parents that work there that I can name. Since everyone wants to be quiet and act like this does nothing to people, I will say the truth! I felt like I needed to make this review. To put it simply, this school left me with horrible memories and trauma. This school might be nice for younger kids. However, once your kids pass eighth grade, I encourage you to switch them to another school. Where do I even begin? It was extremely difficult making friends here. The school was way too small to even find friends; most of the kids were not up for making friends, and they were very closed minded. Although I am willing to be friends with anyone, it was difficult forming friendships with foreign exchange students because of the language barrier. Although they seemed nicer than the American kids, the language barrier unfortunately held me back from ever developing a close friendship with any of them. The American kids here were bullies! I have never experienced bullying like this before coming to this school and never experienced anything like it after I left. At this point, my brain really just blocked out all of the details. However, I can recall it was a nightmare. In fact, I was not the only one being bullied. When kids weren't being bullies, the boys were making disgusting remarks. One time during lunch, a classmate of mine literally said he would have s*x with his sister, and made a gross remark about how he likes when his sister isn't wearing a br*. gross!! right? this is flat out disgusting. It definitely isn't talk for a Christian school. Then another time a peer of mine made an unnecessary remark about my chest in class. Of course that made me extremely uncomfortable. Now let's talk about how this school doesn't treat its high school kids like HIGH SCHOOLERS. During lunch time, we weren't allowed to go to the bathroom without asking. We weren't even allowed to go to our lockers to get a book if we forgot it during lunch time. They would bring in magicians and make us perform in Christmas recitals with literal first graders?? This mixing of high school kids with younger students is a recipe for disaster. I remember one time we were outside all together, and a fight broke out between A HIGH SCHOOLER AND A MIDDLE SCHOOLER?? A high school girl actually swung and started fighting a middle school boy! It was shocking. I am pretty sure the fight happened over something petty as well. High schoolers should not be physically fighting middle schoolers; it's unacceptable. Lastly, I want to talk about the teachers. This is a minor issue, but I was very socially awkward during this time, and two teachers used to treat me like I was stupid and almost pick at me because of it. Instead of trying to make the environment more comfortable for me, they did the exact opposite. The biology teacher was umm,, to put it simply, scary. He would talk about the guns he had at home. He was also very intolerant of others! He would bash gay people in a terrible way. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it was shocking the way he would talk about gay people. Instead of spreading love, this teacher spread hate. One time my friend and I were just walking from the high school building to the other building, and this man GOT IN HIS CAR AND STARTED FOLLOWING US WHILE WE WERE WALKING THERE. what was the point???? My geography teacher was okay, but he also spread hateful stuff. I won't mention the subject because it was a sensitive topic, but I will never forget. I regret so much never speaking up during these class discussions because some of the remarks said were so ignorant. Another thing that bothers me is how students can wear trump socks and they can post blue lives matter stuff on their page, but when I simply say I support the lgbt community, I am taken into the office and I'm in trouble?? As I said, this school spreads their opinions in a hateful way. Instead of strengthening my relationship with God, it made me question my relationship with God. It gave me the idea Christians were hateful. Thankfully, I rethought everything, and my relationship with Christ is great again. There are better Christian schools out there. Anyways, to close this up. @ STAFF,, Blm and gay/trans lives matter as well. Religion should never excuse violence or hate! Yes, you're entitled to your own opinions, but you can teach them in a non hateful way. Have respect for all people. read more
