The staff was awesome, it was close to closing time and they was on the spot on and friendly. Hats off to them. Chicken Fried Chicken was cut with your fork tender, Mashed Taters was taters and okra was perfect. Merrie ordered the Grilled Chicken Sammich, must of been good. I didn't get a bite. read more

All around great local restaurant! Staff is always friendly and pleasant to be around. We definitely feel welcome there. Food is quite good and there is a surprising variety of menu offerings. They offer many of the diner standards and some surprising things as well. Alligator bites, anyone? A bison burger? They got it all! Portions are generous and you won't leave hungry! Great desserts and various coffee drinks. Lots of sides to pick from. Daily specials that are very affordable. My favorite is probably the burgers and tots but you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. It can get pretty busy at times but I've never had to wait too long for my food. The food is great. There is plenty of choices from burgers to steaks and everything in between. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, all are great choices. This is a small town cafe, so don't expect fast food quickness. Everything has to be prepared. The owner will sit and talk with the customers like he's known them his whole life. This place was AMAZING!! We came in with a big group of people after getting off a church retreat and we decided to grab lunch here. I didn't realize how small the place was from online but they were eager to seat us and were very hospitable!! Loved the people here and makes me miss small town charm that I love!! It's not fast food but it's a great place to stop on a roadtrip and seemingly a favorite for the locals!! Recently they opened on Sundays from what the waitress told me. Our food came out about 40-50 minutes after we ordered which considering our group size was good timing. It was safe to say we were all happy with our food despite some few changes due to limited food supply. They did great trying to accommodate us in any way shape or form! 5 star. Traveling Houston to Livingston and stopped for breakfast . Make sure expectations are intact--this is not avocado toast/fresh fruit type establishment. They do have classic southern breakfast food. Prices are incredibly affordable...thought I had stepped back in time. Friendly service . Not super fast food delivery but this is not a fast food stop so sit back and enjoy the laid back country ambiance. We would definitely come back if passing through ! read more

I used to love this place. The food is consistently good. The staff is friendly. But...it is hot as hell in the restaurant when temps are high. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're sweating and uncomfortable. Seems the building is rented and the building owner won't do anything about the poorly-functioning air conditioning system. I think the restaurant owner just shrugs his shoulders about the situation. It's a shame because the food here is the best in the county. You'd think the owner would care enough about his business and his customers to figure out a way to fix the problem. I know longer eat here when temp is 90 or above. I wanted to like this hometown cafe. It fills a need. Somewhere to stop along a backroad route. GOOD - the tea was good. - service was okay. - bathrooms were clean. BAD -The cook touched everything with un gloves hands. Which I guess sometimes ignorance is bliss but the doors to the kitchen were wide open. From carrying food trays, sprinkling chives, getting into the hamburger bag, etc. - somehow the chicken fried steak was all breading, not much steak. - the burger was dry. -The fries were cold. - the tater tots were so fried that there was no longer an existing filling. They were more like fried grease filled gushers. Will probably pack a lunch the next time we drive through. read more

This place is INCREDIBLE. We're traveling so we look for stuff we don't have at home and avoiding chains when possible. Stumbled upon this and was so excited to give it a try and wasn't disappointed.. everything is home cooked, the restaurant itself is very clean and the decorations are very cute. Servers are so friendly, and waiting a few extra minutes for food that is made fresh is 100% worthwhile. I'd definitely go back if we didn't live 20+ hours away! read more
