My dear friend Louise and I stumbled into this treasure of a coffee house and bakery, housed inside the original Huntsville jail! The baked goods were yummy and my coffee was PERFECT! The staff was A+++ helpful, polite, friendly and easy to chat with about any and everything. They also have a wonderful parlor that has a continuation of art, photography, items from around the world AND an LGTBQIA+ book case with books for sale. This place is awesome! As a vegan I was happily surprised to find what a great selection they have. It was so good I came back a second day in a row before I left town. The drink choices are really unique. I got got a chaga matcha hot the first day and a cold Mayan reishi cacao the next day. The chaga tasted earthy and the cacao surprisingly spicy. Food wise I got the tomato soup, baguette with fresh herb oil, and a blueberry chocolate chip cookie. The soup and fresh herbs were so flavorful. The cookie was unique. The second day I got the veganized version of the French onion soup (you have to specify) and it was to die for!!! It is one of the best soups I've ever had. I only wished the bowl was bigger. I had also put in a special request the day before for a vegan chocolate dessert. Cat custom made a cocoa, raspberry muffin for me and it was so delicious. The service was incredible. Both Cat and her mom were so friendly and went out of their way to do everything they could to make my experience the best they could. Cat even called me to let me know I accidentally left my credit card and gave me an additional dessert in the house when I came back to get it. She totally saved me because I wouldn't have noticed until I was too far away to come back. It was so refreshing to find kind people who truly care about providing amazing food options and service to their customers. The ambiance was really unique with it being in a converted jailhouse. They even have a picture wall where you can pretend you are an inmate. There were 2 rooms to sit in. The cozy room had games and I can see it being a fun place to hang out. I left one star off because it was quite cold inside. I had hoped to have a place to warm up while camping but it almost felt colder inside than out. If I stayed longer I would've asked if there was a plug in heater available. Parking was slightly tricky. You can only park in their lot if doing pick up. The first day I parked across the street no problem but if coming during office hours or a busy time you may need to park further away. Overall, this place is awesome! It's definitely worth checking out and I would absolutely come again! read more

The CAT cafe is the most unique cafe I have ever been to. Not only is it unique because it is a historic building, but each room also has so much character from the decor to the clothing and the beautiful paintings and prints that are hung on the wall. The owner and and Elizabeth are the sweetest people with the most interesting and coolest stories to tell. Each time I have been here I have had delicious food and drinks. The chagaccino, butternut squash soup and hummus were amazing. Their baked goods are also to die for. I highly recommend coming in here for a great and unique experience! I only wish I would have taken more pictures! read more

I liked the coffee cake we received, but I'm not sure if they have the right hours for the business that they are running. They have a very cool location, just wish we could have seen more of the jail part. I think it is part of their lease agreement, but that's a little bit of the draw with that location. read more

It is in a very small and disorganized part of what used to be they county jail. It didn't seem super clean or well thought out. When we sat down the owner started talking about "paranormal activity" in the building. This information caused one of my daughters to sleep in our room for a few nights after because she scares easily. My daughters bubble tea was good, but we won't be back. Edit to respond to owner: We never mentioned we there to see the jail or asked about events. We said we came because I had gotten a coupon on FB. You asked my husband if he wanted to know the history of the building and then I said that would be good because I am a history buff. We never mentioned anything paranormal or "haunted" to you. read more

I met up with a friend here yesterday, and we had the best time. It's a cute historic building with tons of art, books, and artisan crafts (woodwork, textiles) for sale. My friend had a cold brew and I had a chocolate strawberry cookie(!). Both were delicious. We had a long chat with one of the owners, and she was the coolest, sweetest lady! She told us about all the events they hold and the paranormal activity in the building. I bought a book that caught my eye. I plan to go back so I can try some of the pastries. They sound delicious. Also, I love that they're open on Sundays!! read more

I went there for a cold brew yesterday with a friend, and I loved it there! My Coldbrew was really nice- very smooth! The cafe itself is very warm and inviting. The eating spaces and floors were very clean and well kept, I really felt comfortable there. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting, and the owner and her daughter were so wonderful to speak with. I bought a scone and a muffin to take home to my wife, and she loved those items. We will be returning Sunday at noon for tamales, and we are bringing more people to keep this great business around. read more
