So, I began my Sunday looking forward a nice leisurely day at the lake with my family, when only an hour into it, my fiance's sweet, but not-so-bright pup (it's HIS dog, not mine) decided to fight like Mike Tyson with my sister's dog over her Wubby (squeak toy). As I pulled her off of the other dog, my hand unfortunately got caught in the crossfire and was punctured in a few places. Not the worst injury I have ever had, but there was enough blood and lake water to warrant a stop in the weekend minor emergency clinic. Before I left for the clinic, my brother-in-law, cleaned up the cuts pretty well and sent me on my way. I got to the Marble Falls Minor Emergency Clinic, and the place was packed. I guess lots of people hurt themselves at the lake. As I was trying to fill out paperwork, my hand started bleeding again, and the bathroom was occupied, so I asked the front desk girl for something to put over it, and it seemed like she was a little freaked out by it. Maybe she isn't working in the right place. Judging by the other patients, I felt like I was the most beat up looking and should have been given preference in the clinic, but I guess that's not how it works. As I was sitting in the waiting room, trying to keep my hand from bleeding all over the couch, I saw a nurse talking to what appeared to be her neighbor discussing which route they take when going to evening walks. They finally got done with the conversation, and I was called back. I was quickly given a tetanus shot and they took down my medical history; then escorted to a clinic room. Where I waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . . . . for over an hour. Thank God, I wasn't losing anymore blood, I could have been passed out on the floor for an hour and no one would have ever known. I did like the doctor who helped me, he reminded me of Alan Arkin. He took a quick look at my hand, rinsed it off, told me my brother-in-law did a good job of bandaging it up, wrapped my hand in some dressing and sent me on my way with an anti-biotic. All for $140!?1?!?!? When I left, there wasn't a soul left in the waiting room. I honestly think they forgot I was in there. The people were all really nice, but some sense of urgency would have been helpful. read more

We were out of town from the Houston area last week, and both of our daughters became ill, so we decided to go to Tx Hills Urgent Care in Marble Falls. The care from the nurses, Dr. Dickey, Dr. McKay and even the front desk staff was phenomenal. Extremely thorough! Each doctor had a wonderful bedside manner that made both of our shy daughters, as well as us, as nervous parents, feel very comfortable. It turned out that our older daughter had pneumonia, and our younger daughter, a virus. (Xrays, blood work, and strep test were performed and read at this location.) They made sure the girls' regular doctor at home received all the test results they did, and they called our home to follow up several days later to see how the girls felt. We were very impressed and would definitely go there again for any medical need the next time we're in the area. read more

Pretty long wait would be our only "complaint," but considering it's an urgent care clinic there's little control. A lady came in that had gotten her hand injured by a chainsaw and they were able to see her in just a few minutes. By my observation they prioritized and managed patients extremely well. My daughter had a bad reaction to facial creams that resulted in her face looking red and puffy. The reaction was worsening as we started our camping weekend. Wanting her to enjoy the rest of the weekend I decided to take her in. The doctor did a GREAT job with her. He put her at ease prior to a shot and provided a good plan of action to help immediately and for the long term. I had hesitations considering I thought a dermatologist would be needed, but he did a great job (although we will know how good in the coming days/weeks). If you're in the area and need urgent care, I'd recommend this clinic. If it's a SERIOUS issue (life or death urgent!), I'd go to Seton ER. read more

The majority of the five star review here are obviously fake and are from profiles with only one or two reviews. There are five more fake five star reviews that Yelp has already flagged. I was billed just under $900 for them to clean a cut with iodine and glue it together. I followed the aftercare instructions and did not get the cut wet, but the glue peeled right off in less than four hours. read more

On a trip north on 281 my 6 yo son started crying from pain in his ear. He normally resists complaining about anything - I have literally never heard him so inconsolable. With small towns in that area, we were finally able to stop in MF at Wgreens to get ear drops. I tried to soothe him and he was optimistic for a moment but the crying soon started again. At the edge of town I looked up urgent care clinics and began to call, trying to determine where I could get in quickly. When I called this place, I was told 20 mins. Ten mins later, we pulled up and I was at the front desk and given paperwork to fill out. No other patients were waiting - I was at the front of the line. I hurriedly filled it out (my son was still in pain and wailing). When I handed it to the receptionist she said some insurance numbers didn't look right. Without hesitation, I called my son's mom, then handed the cell phone to the receptionist so she could be given the correct info. Literally, within ONE MINUTE of me being told the insurance was incorrect, the receptionist had the right info. We waited...and waited. All the while, I was trying everything I knew to calm my son. Two other people came in while we were waiting - we saw one patient leave. There was no sign of anyone working, only the receptionist. After 30 mins of waiting with NO ONE in front of me in line, I finally asked the receptionist why I had been told 20 mins at least 45 mins prior. Annoyed, she shot back, "The doctor will be with you as soon as he can." Soon the door then opened and a male RN called our name. Relieved, we hurried in and hoped that the pain and crying would be over soon. The nurse followed normal protocol with weight and blood pressure and took us back to an exam room. There were no other people to be seen or heard on our way back. In the exam room we waited...and waited. Desperate to relieve some of his pain, I decided to go back out to the truck to get the ear drops to at least show him I was trying to do something. On my way, I came across a nurse and immediately said in a somewhat panicked but reasonable tone, "Can you please tell me when we'll be able to see the doctor?" With no sensitivity whatsoever, she shot back "The doctor will see you as soon as he can.' There is no doubt my tone got louder as I had finally had enough. I said, "We have been told that over and over! Can you at least tell me if it's going to be 5 minutes or 30 minutes?!" I was standing 5 ft from her when I said this and, incredulously, she picked up the phone and said she was calling the police! I said, "What?! I just want you to help my son! When can you help my son?" I was pleading with her but she said "You're crazy" and continued to talk to someone on the other line. Then the doctor came barreling up the hallway and HE got on another phone with police, pointing at me saying I was crazy - though he had only seen me for about 10 seconds at this point. The doc was frustrated with the dispatcher because he was being asked reasonable questions like, "Has he threatened anyone?" The doctor's exact response was, "No, but it's about to get physical...I AM ABOUT TO GET PHYSICAL WITH HIM." The nurse then started making the ridiculous claim that I threatened her. I said " I was five feet from you...how did I threaten you?" She had no answer. Just as ridiculously, she then claimed that the only reason I waited so long was because I originally gave the wrong insurance information! I offered: "Fine, I'll leave. Just please take care of my son." To which they responded "NO! You are all leaving!" Not only was I floored by the sequence of events, I was appalled that they were refusing care to my 6 yo son. After dealing with an inconsolable son for hours at this point and dealing with the most maddening, surreal healthcare experience in my life...and with a doctor, whom I had laid eyes on now for a matter of minutes, stating that he was about to physically hurt me...the situation got worse. I was indeed an emotional parent that reacted well beyond the bounds my typical character. But I can say this without a doubt: the receptionist, female nurse and doctor were the most apathetic, insensitive, and incendiary healthcare professionals I have ever encountered...esp given the scenario of a child being in obvious pain. Silver lining: We had to go to Scott and White just south of town. Right when we walked in, the receptionist recognized the pain my son was experiencing, greeted us and said she would get us in quickly. She even took my pertinent information verbally to expedite the process. Once again, I called my son's mom and she relayed the insurance portion. Amazingly, those caring folks had this "crazy" dad and his son in and out with a diagnosis and rx within 15 minutes. After reading the doc's response to another complaint, I'm not surprised. I thought god-complexes applied to surgeons. Apparently they can apply to a doc-in-the-box as well. read more

Where do I even begin? I have given this establishment probably 3-4 chances to get it right and yet...it is still last last place I will take anyone in need. The wait times are borderline insane. We are talking 2-3 hours in a patient room. Don't be fooled by the semi-quick amount of time it takes to get behind the waiting room door...you will spend 4-5 times that in a room waiting to see a doctor and you could be the only person in there. My daughter got bit by a dog. She was still bleeding when we got there. An hour later the nurse came in. The doctor followed about 30 minutes later and after another 30 minutes outside the oatient room, deemed it needed stitches. Stitches to the face of 2-year-old is traumatic and not something I wanted done in their facility. They ignored my concern and tried strapping her to a gurney because she was thrashing around scared to death. My husband intervened and asked if it couldn't just have glue being that it wasn't that bad. The doctor was not happy about it, but used medical glue to seal it closed. As if we hadn't learned our lesson, our 7-day old needed to have blood drawn to test bilirubin levels. The doctor sent to Texas Hills for it. Apparently no one in the office can draw blood on a baby. Five....yes five...attempts later we picked up our newborn and took her into Austin to have it done. So that's my experience. Enter at your own risk. read more

I'm from put of town and went in on a Sunday afternoon for an earache. After being awake in the night in pain I was worried and needed reassurance. Dr. Dickey was immediately caring and informative and kind. The staff was awesome as well and I will go back if the need arises! read more

My son was staying with my parents while my husband and I were moving from South Carolina back to Texas. During his stay he developed hives and they planned on taking him to Texas Hills Urgent Care in Marble Falls. It was early Sunday evening and the options were limited (too bad he didn't develop the hives during a more convenient time... but then again, when does it ever work out that way?). I called THUC and told them that my parents were on their way (they live on LBJ in Kingsland)... I gave them our insurance information AND my credit card number so that it would expedite the process once they arrived. My mom called them from Granite Shoals saying they were doing their best to get there before 6. However, THUC refused to see my 11th month old son because they arrived 2 minutes after closing time. Even after we called twice, gave insurance and credit card information... WE WERE TURNED AWAY AT 6:02. While I do understand the need for policies and procedures, I also believe in quality of customer care ESPECIALLY when it comes to medical attention for children! I called back to ensure that our information was disposed of properly (remember- I had given my credit card number) and I expressed my disgust in the lack of understanding and that there should be exceptions... 2 minutes... really?? Maybe my Dad should have slowed down enough for my Mom to roll out of the car, run to the door and sign in at 5:59.5 AND then take the baby out of the car seat.... that might have saved 2 minutes and my son would have received care. read more
