I had a good experience with the doctors themselves, but god help you if you want to get an appointment in a timely manner. I am an existing patient and called on June 10th to make a sick appointment, and there wasn't anything available until the 22nd. When I asked the receptionist what I should do she said I should go to an urgent care. What is the point of a sick appointment if you have to wait 2-3 weeks? This unfortunately has been a regular occurring experience i've had with this office. I'm sad that I will have to be on the search for yet another primary care, which seem few and far in between now. read more

I was a patient there for several years. I had previously recommended multiple people follow me there- and they did. While the doctors are fantastic, the administration is extremely difficult to deal with. They frequently scheduled unnecessary follow-up visits-sometimes as often as every three weeks-to monitor basic, long-term medications that were not controlled substances. This felt more like an effort to pad their schedule and billing than provide necessary care. Furthermore, they showed a profound lack of ownership, becoming defensive, even aggressive when asked to correct their own errors , instead always blaming others- which on multiple occasions impacted my ability to attain necessary medical services read more

Brenda was instantly friendly and made the whole experience painless, which totally helps with the white coat anxiety; (She is also a kickass vampire who was able to get blood on my less than ideal veins). I feel a bit betrayed. I've been coming to Pride Family Medicine for a few years now. I am low income, and work multiple jobs. Occasionally I will be called into work last minute to cover shifts, and I need the money, so I can't just decline. I have had this happen to me multiple times and have always paid the $50 late fee for my missed appointments. Mind you, most of these missed appointments were through telehealth and I had been locked out of my account for a while so could not even request a reschedule. Fast forward, my aunt passed away. Which resulted in me last minute going out of state for a funeral. I got laid off from my job as well, resulting in me not even being able to afford the appointment due to losing insurance. Mind you, I have been coming in for a few years now. Not once was I told that if I missed appointments, they would basically kick me out and no longer provide me care. What kind of insensitive bs is that? A company that works exclusively for the queer community should be very much aware of the statistics of low income for folks like me. Over 50% of us make less than $50k a year, and Austin is an expensive place to live. That all being said, knowing this is a queer facility, and knowing their patients all work low income jobs that typically require you to work odd hours, and to know this place s all expensive and also to know that I had a death in the family, and still kick me out is ridiculous. Not only that, I've been waiting for over a month to get a definitive answer. I showed up for my appointment that was scheduled and sent to me via email for them to just tell me, "sorry you don't go here anymore." I should charge them $50 for having me call out of work for nothing. And then to not even have the decency to give me another chance after a big death in the family has literally grossed me out from this company. read more

I've been going to Pride for years and even back when it was Zest Family Practice. The nurse practitioners are all equally incredible. They don't rush through to see other patients and REALLY listen and spend time with each patient. It has always been the mission of the practice to not just be a regular doctor's office, but one where they know each and every patient and are inclusive of everyone. The team is open and welcoming to everyone and I just love them! Lexi in the aesthetics group is AMAZING! My face is always glowing! The addition of their nurse practitioners Steven Paris and Surajan Panday (I've seen them both) has expanded this amazing practice. They also have Dr. Risa Curtis specializing in OB/GYN services!!! She has amazing bedside manner, a wonderful team of medical assistants that provide support services, and a very kind office staff. Suraj and physician Assistant Brenda took care of me. Suraj is very patient, and knowledgeable and listens to all our conditions very compassionately and in detail. He looks at the problem from all possible angles, puts the patient at complete ease in spite of all possible worries and genuinely cares for the patient, and provides the best possible treatment. The office staff was very nice and the environment of the office itself was very clean and well kept. I'm glad I found them. I had a microdermabrasion facial at Pride with Lexi. The treatment was great. Lexi was thorough and is so sweet. She cleansed my face, did the microdermabrasion treatment, also did a manual extraction on my nose and finished up with a hydrating mask and left it on for 10 minutes. She refilled all my scripts I had from before I moved from out of state, and they all got SENT CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME to a new pharmacy I hadn't even been to yet.
