I would love to give this place five stars because it is cute cozy comfortable and just darn right decorated well. However there is plenty of areas that are dirty and in need of maintenance. If you look on Google at the business listing for the Buckhorn Cabin, or the photos I submitted on yelp here, you'll see they related evidence that correlates with the review I'm posting.You'll see a very thick coating of dust and dirt under the couch , that has not been dusted and cleaned in at least a month and would take about 30 seconds with a dust mop . There is mold growing in the bathroom behind the tub in the grout . There is a lot of fixtures that are loose in there are many fixtures with lightbulbs out . We pay close to $1000 for three nights I would least like to think that the maintenance issues were addressed in the place was cleaned up to at least a basic standard . If these issues were fixed we will definitely stay here again but the attention to detail here is surprising . ** UPDATE - Katalina from the management office called to offer her apologies and was surprised to hear the issues. She was very professional and very kind. They compensate us for the trouble. Due to the response and attentiveness, we will definitely be staying here again. I changed my 3 stars to 5 stars.

Their Terrace Grill has excellent, farm fresh food. They try and use the resources they have on the ranch including their own beef cattle, and fruits and vegetables. They have a pool and Guadalupe River access also if that's your thing. If you want a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is the place to go.

The campground itself is clean, and the sites are spacious with plenty of shade, which made our stay comfortable. The pool area is excellent, and the food offerings were surprisingly good. One area that was disappointing was the miniature golf course. It appears it has not been maintained regularly. There were numerous rocks and debris on the greens, several holes were filled with golf balls, and some of the clubs were broken. With proper upkeep, this could be a much more enjoyable attraction. The activity center staff were another weak point. Many of the younger employees seemed disengaged and lacked enthusiasm for the activities. When we asked questions, we were often met with "I don't know" responses, which was frustrating. Better training and more involvement from staff would greatly improve the guest experience. The bathhouses could also benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance. Since we stayed in our travel trailer, this was not a major issue for us, but it may be for tent campers or guests relying on campground facilities. One of the main reasons we chose this campground was because we were told we would be able to tube directly down the Guadalupe River from the property. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the river was stagnant due to a lack of rainfall, making tubing impossible. We understand that river conditions are beyond the campground's control, but it would have been helpful to receive more accurate and current information before booking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the clean campsites, shaded areas, pool, and food. With better maintenance of the mini golf course, improved staff training, and more up-to-date information about river conditions, this campground could provide an even better experience.

Endless activities for kids of all ages + fun for adults. Some tips for visitors: gets very busy, activities and golf carts sell out - book early. Pool areas slammed and no seats, dirty bathrooms. Ideally they'd enforce seat holding as much as they do outside booze in the pool area. They are not all inclusive - kind of felt nickel and dime'd for little things that should be included like bingo ($2), popcorn ($1), glitter tattoos. However, there is plenty that is included so not a huge deal. Food options are limited but pretty tasty quality. Everything closes fairly early. I would visit again for sure! Overall, the family loved it. And you can tell from their app they're not ridiculously corporate and a lot of homemade food, local workers (super happy to see they also focus on employing those with special needs - awesome!) and overall really laid back. Gotta love that!

There's a small river that crosses through the camp site, but the tides were low and it didn't look like you could kayak or tube in it that weekend. It was nice to watch the ducks swim by though. I like that the campsite includes clean restrooms and showers. Each tent site provides you a bench, trash bin, bbq grill, and fire pit. Unfortunately, there was a burn ban in effect during our stay, so we couldn't light a wood fire. There was plenty of space between us and other campers, so it didn't feel cramped. One thing that could be improved is that the field is pretty rocky. We couldn't seem to find a spot for our tent that wouldn't drive a stone in our backs at night. The camp site offers kayak rentals, but it gets to be quite expensive. Visitors can also use the swimming pool located by the front office. If you're feeling hungry, want to grab a drink, or enjoy some entertainment, right by the entrance is a restaurant bar. They've got live music most nights.

Not the best spot for tent camping.

Recently purchased in August 2013 by hosts Delbert and Julie, Haussegen Platz is conveniently…read morelocated one block off of Main Street. A very good location. Walking distance to everything; however, much more quiet than staying right on Main. And Delbert & Julie could not be more hospitable. They truly make you feel as if you're staying at your home away from home. The structures and their history are so interesting and unique it makes staying here even more special. The main house was Amish built in 1770 in Pennsylvania and was being dismantled to build new structures in 1988. The previous B&B owner's had the house parts freighted to Fredericksburg and rebuilt the house. The Cottage behind the house wasn't constructed until 1994, but old materials were used to mimic the age of the main house, including some of its wooden beams, so it really feels like the Cottage and House are from the same time period. Haussegen is not a typical B&B in that breakfast is not served on premise (a $10 voucher per couple is provided each day with a short list of area restaurants/bakeries to choose from) and you can either rent out the entire main Log Haus (sleeps up to 8) or the separate Fachwerk Cottage - which is what we did. At about $180/night during "peak" it is very comparable to other options in the area. But, if you can get 6 other friends/family to tag along with you and rent out the Haus I think you can get the cost down to around $40 per night/per person; which is a spectacular deal! When my husband and I stay at "B&B's" we always opt for the carriage house or separate cottage because we love the uniqueness of the facilities, but enjoy a bit more privacy. And, both of our needs were certainly met here. The Fackwerk is perfect for a romantic getaway for 2. It has a beautiful Willow canopy bed w/ TV, stereo/cd, and DVD player in the bedroom. There's a small kitchen area with a mini fridge (no ice), microwave, coffee maker (and coffee), and toaster. The bathroom has all the necessary toiletries (inc. hair dryer & and iron) and plenty of soft, cozy towels. The living area contains a sofa and 2 chairs with a wood burning fireplace (nice!). There's also a small dining table for 2. Free WiFi. The Cottage has a small porch with nice wooden rockers. A great place to sit and enjoy a glass of Texas Hill Country wine when the weather is nice. This is "glamping" all right. It is basically a hotel room in a covered wagon. They had a queen-size bed, twin bunk beds, coffee, a mini fridge, paper towels, and a table with two chairs. I wasn't expecting it to be so big and spacious! There is so much room even with all that stuff inside. Everything was incredibly clean, including the bathroom. Though there isn't a bathroom IN the wagon, it was right next to the wagon so walking to it wasn't an issue at all. The showers weren't awesome but they were fine enough considering you're technically camping. Certainly better than having none! The check in/out process was a breeze and the place is super easy to find, as well as convenient to all the fun Fredericksburg has to offer. We are absolutely staying at these wagons again next time we visit and so should you! Way too much fun.
