What a gem!!! River access with private island. Lots of terrain to explore, very clean and well kept. My only thing that I noticed that was odd is where the fire rings are placed. The picnic table and rings are placed right next to your neighbor's sewer Inlet which isn't all that appealing but you can easily move your table. Since it's summer we wouldn't be using the fire pit anyways but I could definitely see that being an issue come fall time. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Campground and perfect weather during Spring Break. We had a great experience and office staff was friendly and helpful.

We absolutely love this place, right on the Guadalupe river, camping spaces are large. the island next to the river was nice to take a walk ride your bike or have a bonfire.

Our 2nd time here & by far our favorite campground. Loved our site # (we got lucky & reserved it due to someone's cancellation) but there are other premium sites right on the water with ample shade. I almost don't want to post this review because it's similar to sharing a super secret great fishing hole! But that isn't fair to By the River in Kerrville-they are that awesome. Big spacious, shaded site, friendly & respectful campground helpers & desk staff, tons to do, a good restaurant right next door, stores close enough for last minute needs, beautiful biking trails on the river in town etc. Can't name all the pluses here-there's too many. The only negative is the tent people who rented the area around 'the eye'. They were very rude to us & told us we couldn't go in the river close to their tents because they rented that area for 3 months. There are plenty of other areas to get in the water but there is a sign that says 'The Eye' with an arrow for swimming so it's confusing. We did share this with the front office staff. Now I may regret posting this because we may not be able to get in because you all will take the good spots! :) Don't hesitate. Just call em' & go!

Perfect RV Resort right on the river. Highly recommend the riverfront / oversized spots for an extra comfortable stay. Beautiful, clean grounds with good hook ups, picnic table and fire ring. Pool is a lot smaller than it appears in the pictures, but to be honest, the river offers so much that we didn't even go to the pool.

This is by far a great spot to get away and feel the tranquil breezes and views of the spectacular Guadalupe river. We had a bit of trouble getting in our spot number 5. If anyone has a 40ft fifth wheel with 5 slide outs don't pick this site it's a very tight fit. Other than that this campground is amazing. Reservations were easy to make and everyone is super friendly here. Will definitely come back again! Thank you By the river Campground you guys are Awesome!

Stayed there the middle of May with my pull behind pop up on my motorcycle. We decided that we like this place better than others we have tried in the area. It was very quiet very close to nature and peaceful. Management was nice as were the showers. They did not have a camp store but they did sell wood. We stayed with a great view of the river at site 17,18, or 19. The site had ample space. Recommend

This campground was awesome. We came in from Austin to get away. We had a blast. We put a tent on a premium rv spot so we could have water and electric but next time we will camp at one of the awesome tent sites. Perfect for rv's. The bathroom and showers were really clean and the showers were hot every night and never a line. It's also close to stores for anything you forgot. The river access is unreal. It was so beautiful. The pictures on the website doesn't do it justice. We spent the whole day by the river kayaking and floating and even brought out crochet set and played down by the water. The riverfront scenery is something out of a movie. We had the best time! Will be back as soon as we can.

We took our dogs to the bark park to play and everyone was good about picking up their dog's doody. There are doody trash cans and bags throughout the resort. I also used the laundry room and it was very well kept. They have four washers and four dryers. I was able to get quarters in the office. The washers are $2.50 per load, as well as the dryers. The dryers run for 45 min. They also have a store in case you run out of ice, etc. The resort is just off the highway, close to parks, and grocery stores. We will definitely return!!

The grounds are above & beyond what you'd expect. From the minute you drive in the entrance & see the huge windmill & the flags you will know that you have entered a property that is loved and taken pride in. Jamie & B (Bianca) in the front office are friendly & helpful. They gave us easy directions to our spot & gave us plenty of info on things to do at the resort & in the surrounding area. We enjoyed talking to them so much! They were great! We drove across a small bridge in the resort into the Adults Only section & I swear I heard the birds chirping a happy little song welcoming us...lol We looked into the water & my bf said "I wonder if I can fish?! (He could & he did!) We had an end lot in the center. It was a perfect spot w a nice, sturdy metal table & 4 chairs. The area was quiet & peaceful. At night all we could see were stars...and more stars. This is the place to be for stargazing. At the time we still had our 24 ft RV & it fit perfectly. On the outside of the circle in the Adults only area there are huge spaces for larger RV's & motor homes. During our stay we walked up to the office to buy a few things & the prices were actually reasonable compared to other RV resorts we have stayed at. We loved the Adults Only pool & hot tub. We wish more resorts actually thought about the fact that there are a lot of Adults that want to relax at the pool without kids yelling, screaming & splashing them. Some of us are trying to get away for a wknd & relax. At other resorts there are kids running wild everywhere with little to no supervision. If you book here, especially in the Adults Only area, you will actually be able to enjoy a tranquil getaway. You will hear the wind blowing, not kids screaming. Don't worry though, if you're traveling w the Brady bunch you can book one of the many lovely spots in the other section of the resort. There's a pool for everyone that is also very large & nice. There you can enjoy the sounds of your children screaming & splashing with new friends! Speaking of friends, we met some of the most wonderful people on our last trip to Buckhorn Lake. At some RV resorts I have heard /read reviews complaining that long term tenants are unfriendly. Well, we found just the opposite. We met numerous people who stay at Buckhorn for months at a time and they were all so welcoming! One evening we ended up in the front "yard" of an amazing couples spot for hours. They were friends w a bunch of other regulars at the resort also. Our absolute favorite person at this resort has to be Chris! He came into the pool area our first night when we were in the hot tub. He was just making sure everything was turned off (lights) & locked up. There's a code to get into the very clean & nice restrooms. We ended up talking quite awhile. He told us all about the fun events that happen at Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This isn't JUST an RV park. It is truly a resort with plenty to do OR not do. Your choice. My bf had fun fishing in the early morning. (Catch & release) There is a fitness center & game room. They have tennis courts! There is also a really cool outdoor bar area near a big red barn for Happy Hours & Potlucks. They have an awesome theater room where they will soon be having a Super Bowl party. Every wknd they plan activities for their guests. There's no pressure to join but everyone is welcome! Chris takes care of the grounds & even stops by everyone's RV in the mornings to get your trash for you. He has the best personality. He made us want to come back bc he made us feel so welcome. I wish everyone had the kind of positive attitude that he has & loved their job as much as he does. He may never know this but he was a huge reason why our 1st visit to Buckhorn was such an excellent experience. If you ever see this, THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRIS! If you want to enjoy the Hill Country in the Kerrville area there can't possibly be another place that could come close to being as great as Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This is just my opinion though. The fact that we booked 3 more visits in advance the day we checked out is proof enough! This place books up... Apparently we are not the only people that know how great this place is. We visited Buckhorn the first time in September 2022. I decided to wait & visit more RV resorts before posting my review. I can tell you without a doubt that this resort is excellent. In comparison to others in the Hill Country it has more activities & more amenities. It is definitely more beautiful! We have stayed at other great places but there is something special about Buckhorn Lake. Go & find out for yourself! Our next booking is coming up & we can't wait! Btw, I have so many more photos but they are on my old phone. I'll add them ASAP!

The campground itself is clean, and the sites are spacious with plenty of shade, which made our stay comfortable. The pool area is excellent, and the food offerings were surprisingly good. One area that was disappointing was the miniature golf course. It appears it has not been maintained regularly. There were numerous rocks and debris on the greens, several holes were filled with golf balls, and some of the clubs were broken. With proper upkeep, this could be a much more enjoyable attraction. The activity center staff were another weak point. Many of the younger employees seemed disengaged and lacked enthusiasm for the activities. When we asked questions, we were often met with "I don't know" responses, which was frustrating. Better training and more involvement from staff would greatly improve the guest experience. The bathhouses could also benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance. Since we stayed in our travel trailer, this was not a major issue for us, but it may be for tent campers or guests relying on campground facilities. One of the main reasons we chose this campground was because we were told we would be able to tube directly down the Guadalupe River from the property. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the river was stagnant due to a lack of rainfall, making tubing impossible. We understand that river conditions are beyond the campground's control, but it would have been helpful to receive more accurate and current information before booking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the clean campsites, shaded areas, pool, and food. With better maintenance of the mini golf course, improved staff training, and more up-to-date information about river conditions, this campground could provide an even better experience.

Our visit was clouded, however, by a very poor customer service experience that could have been handled SO much better. We had two separate interactions with Jennifer in the main office, and both were quite negative. The first time, she gave us the wrong golf cart. We had prepaid (in full) for a 6 person cart, and were given a 4 person cart. It seemed as though she was trying to sneak it by us, hoping we didn't recall what we had paid for - and the price difference is significant. It would have been better handled to be up front with the error. My husband returned to office noting the error, and we were offered camp credit, but apparently there are so many restrictions on its use, and no other employees (0 out of 3 that we asked) actually knew how to use or apply any form of credit, that it was essentially worthless. At the end of the trip, I returned to the office with my three children to return keys and inquire if anything else was needed from us to check out. Unfortunately, Jennifer was again working the desk. I mentioned where I had left the golf cart (parked neatly in the line of golf carts outside), and Jennifer rudely mentioned that they actually belonged across the street. She then said in a very snippy manner that she would move it or that I could. I replied that I didn't mind moving it, and wanted to do what I was supposed to. I told her that the signage was a bit confusing. There is signage on both sides of the street indicating golf cart return, but two trucks were parked in front of the "correct" return, and I never saw the other signage . What was appalling, however, was that Jennifer thought it appropriate to storm outside with me - in front of my young children, mind you - gesture at the signage, and state sarcastically that the signage was pretty clear. To a mother. In front of her children. This is very, very poor behavior, and not the type of representation that a business would want representing them. In the hospitality industry, hospitality is expected - particularly from your first and last impression. Unfortunately, sarcasm and deceit are what was served in this case.
