I wasn't able to answer right away and they kept calling over and over and leaving different messages, including one message that said my appointment was being canceled because my drivers license is expired (it isn't). I called them again and they confirmed my insurance is valid. Went in for the appointment and the receptionist tries to get me to "Self pay" and says I don't have valid insurance. Had to provide the insurance a 3rd time before they finally acknowledged it. I got as far as seeing the medical assistant. I showed her my most recent MRI and a stack of medical records going back 2 years. She quickly told me that the doctor wasn't going to be able to help me and I left. Never saw the doctor. Also their office is full of red flags, like advertisements for laser hair removal, ketamine injections, Regenexx ads all over the place (which is not a proven treatment and is experimental at best), something called the O-shot for woman sexual improvement. I feel stupid for going here.

She can fix almost anything. This office has supported me through the billions of pharmacy issues filling my meds and Dr Maxey is quick to investigate additional pain issues! I asked to switch to a newer medication (Nucynta) years ago and he agreed and it literally changed my life! If you have joint/bone pain and neuropathy, ask him about it! I couldn't live the life I have now without his support. I'm 51 with three kids under 13 and he keeps me mobile more than any other pain physician ever did! When I had an issue with tolerance creeping up, he was quick to address it. When I wanted to move to an ER formulation, he was quick to assist. I've already had one hip replaced and thought I was having increased hip pain, he identified it was an issue with my pelvis and treated that quickly. When my knee started hurting and giving out, he quickly ordered imaging. He doesn't REQUIRE injection procedures that are not FDA approved, but he does offer them! They have been fantastic for my pelvic pain! When I'm feeling I need maintenance, I just mention it and we schedule it! Seriously, this is the doctor you see for pain and can speak openly about your pain and your medications! He is willing to try different medications until you find what works best for you! He has been able to keep my pain under control without large increases in my medications. I feel like I'm treated as an individual and when I go in for maintenance meds refills, it's quick and easy. I submit my urine, see him or his NP and I'm in and out quickly without a big process. When I have a new pain complaint, he addresses it immediately. When I had to go to the hospital for severe acute stomach pain, I just called his after-hours number to have him called and he was available to consult with the ER doctor (which wasn't necessary, but I did as a precaution) and then I discussed it with him at my follow-up visit. He knows that those of us being treated for chronic pain sometimes need a different medication for acute pain. When I broke a tooth and couldn't get in with my dentist for a few days (and my usual pain medication wasn't touching the acute pain) he quickly called me in a different temporary medication to help with the mouth pain (and it worked!). I can't say anything bad about Dr Maxey and his care! If you have a choice in pain management doctors, you can't go wrong with Dr Maxey!

It took days of repeated calls, messages, emails, before I was ever able to get through. However they were able to make an appointment within a few days. For the consultation, the doctor seemed very confident that he knew what the problem was and suggested doing an injection. Did not discuss any other possible treatments (i.e. medication), just insisted the next step was to come back for an injection. I went for the injection and it went fine. I had more pain for the next 7 days than I did before coming in, and after that I felt no pain relief at all. I came in for my scheduled follow-up appointment and was exactly on time. I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes and then came out to remind them that I was waiting and that it was 30 minutes past my appointment time. The person there said something like "oh you're probably next". I told them I had another appointment after this and could not just wait around indefinitely. I waited another 10 minutes and still no doctor showed up. I decided that I could not stay any longer as they were well past the appointment time. I asked if we can reschedule for a less busy time. They said the next available appointment is 30 days out! I asked if they think it's right that the doctor did not show for my appointment and now I have to wait 30 days for another chance? The scheduler told me that even if I come in after 30 days, the doctor may still be not on-time that day and that I have to just sit there and wait. At this point I decided to just leave and go someplace else. Their treatment was not effective at all, their office staff is impossible to get a hold of since they don't answer the phone or return messages, and if they can't keep their appointments then it's really a deal-breaker for me.
