Full disclosure: The Window Guys gave us a discount for giving them a review but they didn't…read morespecify how many stars we had to give them or what we had to say. Big picture: We saved thousands of dollars over the other estimate by going with TWG. Our windows look great, function well, and seem very effective at keeping out the elements. You'll see some other nitpicks if you read the full review but we only had one major complaint. The installer, Sam, told us on his first visit that he would take down the metal tracks for our plastic storm panels and put them back on when he was done. Then he told my husband during the process that he didn't want to put them back on again because he was concerned about damaging our brick. So now they're scattered all around the yard. Sam's a good guy and I'm sure he had his reasons but a deal's a deal and this leaves a little sour taste in my mouth. Extended dance mix: We got two estimates to replace all the windows on our house. The other was from a family owned company in town with excellent reviews. I'm sure they'd have been great to work with and they do more of the prep and clean-up themselves. Working with TWG, you have to move all your own stuff away from the windows inside and out (like trimming plants away) BUT for us, it was well worth it to do that work ourselves to save about 1/3 the cost of the project. Part of how TWG keeps costs down is by minimizing the sales process. You send them measurements for your windows and sign a contract before you ever meet them or even talk to them, just email. Most other companies will send a sales person out to your house to talk options and take measurements. Sounds like that can be a nightmare hard sell with some of the bigger companies but the sales visit we got from the company we didn't go with was very pleasant. It would have been nice to see samples and touch base with someone from TWG before we made a commitment and it might have scared me off if we hadn't gotten a really positive referral on TWG from a friend. In general, I think there's room for improvement on this part of the process without getting too fancy with it, 15 minutes patiently answering questions on the phone would have gone a long way. Once you've signed a contract with them, Sam comes out and takes the real measurements. This is good because he'll also be the one to do the installation so you know what you're getting. He's a little rough around the edges but he's a real craftsman, respected our house, and seemed very trustworthy. My husband and father who were more present for installation couldn't stop talking about how careful and considerate he is. Because it's one guy rather than a big crew, installation takes longer. In our case three days instead of one but well worth it. Another contrast was that TWG only offered one line of window while the other company had lots of manufacturers to chose from, a bunch of different options, etc. BUT these windows are a really cool design and look great. It's nearly freezing outside as I write this and you have to hold your hand pretty close to the glass to feel any cold air at all coming through. In general, I feel like they've really given our AC a break as compared to the ancient window that came with our nearly 60-year-old house. The jury's still out on how long they'll last but that would have been true regardless of who we'd gone with. I'm a little concerned because I managed to put a teeny tiny dent in one just by leaning something heavy gently against the frame. Nothing to worry about at the moment. Sam noticed some splits in a couple of the sliding panels for our bay window during installation and made that right, ordering replacements including one extra panel just in case. I expect they'll continue to stand behind their work but I'll let you know if they don't.

My whole experience was great. They were recommended by a friend. I didn't have to deal with a…read moremiddle man or sales man. Took a while to get the windows due to Covid. Installation took 2 1/2 days for 16 windows. I could tell a difference immediately upstairs. Very professional.

By the grace of God, I found Cambridge Windows and Doors, a locally owned company in Stafford,…read moreTexas. I decided to check them out to replace my front entry door. I had been looking for a beautiful new entry door for some time and finally found it at Cambridge, "The Best Little Door House in Texas". From the first time I sat down with the owner, Michael Stinson, to discuss the door, I knew this was the company I wanted to work with to build and install my new door. This is an owner and a company of integrity, expertise, and over 30 years of experience in building doors and windows. Michael is a perfectionist and expects nothing less of his people who build and do the installations. I was given a tour of the work rooms where they do their "magic" to assemble these beautiful doors, all the way from the planks of wood with the bark still intact to the gorgeous finished product. It was amazing. The gentleman who builds, sands and finishes the doors, Adolfo, is an unbelievable woodworking artist . Mario and Mario II were experts installing the door, which requires a lot of skill and is a messy job, but my foyer was as clean when they left as when they came, maybe cleaner. They cleaned up every speck, super nice men. There are so many beautiful doors to choose from, it's difficult to choose, not only the door, but the hardware as well; however, Michael is an expert in helping you choose the perfect door and hardware to match the style and exterior of your home. I rarely review companies, but this company is too amazing not to. After all, your front door is like the elegant jewelry of your home. I looked at a lot of door companies in Houston; Cambridge Doors and Windows far surpassed all of them in quality, expertise, and customer service from start to the finished install. I will not hesitate to have them replace my windows when the time comes.

We will def use them again for the rest of our windows! We replaced an old builder grade front door and put storm doors on all exterior doors. The front door is composite but it looks like real wood. It is really beautiful. The installations were all perfect and comprehensive. The Cambridge crew did a great job on everything: professional, great work, on time, and neat. Diana coordinated the installations and kept us well informed at all stages. One small hiccup is being resolved as I write this. They don't have a big crew so we had to be a bit flexible on scheduling, but they show up when they say they will and work hard the whole time. We will definitely use them again when we replace French doors on patio. Highly recommend this company, we are happy with everything!

Installation was done very poorly, they don't use square, no shims, no foam for insulation. Just slam the windows in, tighten screws and caulk. Windows are measured purposely smaller for easy fit. One of the windows ballance keeps disconnecting because of the widow measured too small, and no shims used. Big arch window is leaking during a heavy rain. Two of the windows were delivered without screens. We were promised the will bring them in a couple of weeks. So far we did not see any screens, nobody came to fix the leak and the balance. Every time we called the local office, they promised that it will be soon we get windows fixed and the missing screens delivered. I called the main office, their mailbox is full and does not accept any voice messages. Nearly impossible to communicate with them. Once they collect the check, it is impossible to have them come back. Don't buy windows from this company! Note: We bought windows from this company, because of Jim Dutton advertising on the radio. Jim, if I were you, I would stop advertising for these people.

Then the excuses started: - we are behind because of rain - we will have weekly schedule meeting on Friday- will let you know - Rain, behind, will have a meeting... In April after hearing every excuse twice I sent a demand letter and gave them until May to install or refund my deposit. On the last day of May their 2 man crew showed up with three windows and announced that one window "would never fit". I was asked to approve cutting into the window frames. Stephanie showed up and I heard her excuses as to why a custom window didn't fit, then we called the "manager" who danced some more. He wanted to have a meeting and would call me. that call never came. In November 2022 I sued in small claim court. They filed a late answer only after they were in default and a hearing was scheduled to award damages. In January 2023 it was sent to mediation. Their attorney tried the same tired justifications I had heard before, and I basically told him that his facts were incorrect and why- point by point. He conferenced with his clients and offered to refund my deposit and all my costs. Lot of work to get back to even- If Yelp allowed a negative rating I would give it to them. They have a BAD rating at BBB They have a BAD rating at the secretary of state Avoid like the plague.
