Instead, head to gate 19 for Jo's Coffee (perhaps best known for their location on Congress street with the " I love u so much" mural. Next to Jo's is Saxon Pub which hosts live music!

TSA has also been pretty reasonable compared to some other airports. I've found live music here a few times and that's probably the best representation of what makes this airport unique. It feels like a small, homey, quirky airport with a lot of local flavor. That said, I'm not sure it fully matches the "Silicon Hills" image Austin has built. It's much more low key and relaxed. I do think Austin has outgrown this airport a little. It can get extremely busy because the passenger volume keeps growing but the size and layout haven't caught up. The biggest bottleneck is definitely the limited space. As it continues to expand, I'd love to see more direct international flights. Having to connect through Dallas or Houston to get to Asia is still a pain. The biggest annoyance is the rideshare pickup. The walk to get there is ridiculously long. Overall, still a good airport with a lot of character. It has a very Austin feel to it but the growth of the city is starting to expose its limitations.

The main part of the building and the air control tower were built in the 1930s and two gates were added to it around 2007-2008 but they maintained the original historical look as much as possible. Open to the public and a really historic place to tour but also a very functional GA airport for San Antonio. For small aircraft owners coming into town, they offer both self-service fuel fill-up as well full-service fuel up where they do it for you and tie your plane down to the run way. They also have a concierge type service where you can check in and they will arrange fueling and also arrange for a rental car to your destination if you need it. If you are flying in for a downtown event, it is only about 10-15 minutes from downtown via car. Long term hangar lease space for your aircraft is also available. They partner with nearby Palo Alto College for training new pilots. Alamo Helicopter Tours is also based out of this airport and they provide tours over downtown SA, the Hill Country, as well as point to point transportation. https://alamohelicoptertours.com/ They have a really nice pilot's lounge for those pilots who have to stay at the airport while their clients go to meetings or events in the city. Decent sized meeting rooms available for rent to anyone in the general public. One of the best features added back in 2016 is a local BBQ joint called The Big Bib. But that is a separate review. Even if you are not a pilot or a flyer, I encourage you to visit this place if you a San Antonio native. You really need to learn more about the history and the future plans for this place!

I have followed Assemble Cocktail Workshop on Instagram and have always thought it looked super…read morefun, so when a friend wanted to do a private party for her birthday - it was a no brainer! We arrived a bit early and Lillian quickly whipped us up a welcome cocktail which she called "A Walk in the Garden". It was a prosecco based cocktail and absolutely delicious (and pretty). While we enjoyed this cocktail and looked around the shop... she prepared the workshop space for the lesson. The birthday girl had been given a list of cocktails in advance and was able to select the ones she wanted to learn how to make (she selected the Blackberry Smash & Bee's Knees). One thing I loved about this class is that Lillian gave options with each cocktail so that everyone would end up with a drink they loved. For example, if you don't like bourbon which is typically in a Bee's Knees... you could use gin instead! Then we had the options to make it spicy/sweet/herbal/ etc. By the end of the class... we all had different and personalized cocktails. In addition to the cocktails, Lillian prepared a large bowl of popcorn with specialty seasonings and showed us some of the fun tools that can be used for different prep methods. We also had downtime between making each drink to enjoy them and chat amongst ourselves. This class made for the perfect outing... we're already talking about doing another for the next girl's weekend. I cannot recommend this class enough and will absolutely be back!

What's not to love about making delicious and fun cocktails with friends?!…read more Lillian's cocktail workshops are a great interactive activity for anyone who is looking to up their cocktail game. I was doing a birthday weekend with friends in Boerne and came across Assemble Cocktail via Visit Boerne. I booked a private Tiki session for 7 of us and it was the perfect way to celebrate with friends. If there's only one or two of you, you can book an open session that's available. We made Mai Tais and Painkillers - both were delicious. Since I had a couple of folks who were preggo, I notified Lillian and she made sure to have two setups with zero-proof "spirits." Lillian was a great teacher and host. She has aprons and leis so the vibes were perfect. The location is a cute bungalow tucked behind another business on Main Street (kind of easy to miss if you're looking for it right on Main Street). The business started at the beginning of the year, so it's fairly new, but add it to your list of things to do if you're in the Boerne area!
