He was also completely transparent every step of the way. I hired an antique appraiser along with Arthur, but in several cases Arthur was more knowledgeable. He found better ways to sell some silver and gold in the house as well as moved all my appliances and got a bunch for some small items that I didn't think were valuable. They never really looked at anything, missed half the rooms an avoided the closets completely. I don't understand how you could just peek in the rooms and know the value of the item, especially since most items where in boxes. I called 3 other estate sales companies and they all spent about an hour or two and asked lots of questions. I know I don't have a million dollars in stuff, but he could have at least been respectful and spent any time looking at all my items before making an evaluation.

To start let me tell you that live out of town…read more.. Me and my family drove more than 2:30 hours to come to this sale (over 5h round trip), and arrived almost 2 hours before the sale opened. So, lets say is was over 7 hours that this deal took me. I was second in line for the items we came for. Only one person was allowed at the room where the items I wanted were. I had no chance to compete with the other person who came for the same items. The only one person allowed in the room was the first in line and grabbed all the items I came for. I would be ok if J&S does like others Estate Sales companies, where everybody has a chance, but that wasn't the case. After a few minutes (when the number 1 got everything interesting) they allowed me to come in. While I was still looking the items left, the lady who works there was hurrying me up to be done, even when the number one was still not done "shopping" in that room. Also the ladies who work at the sale started being rude to me... I closed my ears for that, I didn't want to be angry, but somebody came mention it to me later. I finally gave up, after all, everything I had interest was already taken. So, I went take a look in the rest of the house and, in about 5 minutes I walk by the room where was only allowed 1 person at a time, there were 5 people inside, besides the lady who took care of that room. Yeah... ! So, for me, this company was and is a complete waste of time, gas and sleep. I knew since the beginning this was a gamble, but, at least I thought it would be fair; I thought by getting there early I would have a chance... Ohhh boy, I was wrong! They have dumb rules to facilitate unfairness and of course they don't advertise that on the web.
