Today I was at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX for an organizational retreat. We met in…read morethe F. W. Olin building which is near the Lois Perkins Chapel. The Olin building has been at Southwestern University for more than 30 years. You can see the combination of the old and new aspects of the building. The classrooms where the retreat was held included auditorium styled rooms about 8 rows deeps a fairly new style. The restrooms while extremely clean are a bit dated. Their design of rooms made it easy to see and hear from any point in the classroom. Audio visuals included the TV monitors, speakers and mics. The acoustics in the room was also good. In addition, parking was super easy and very close the Olin building. It was easy access to and from the building.

I can't say much about the campus itself because we came out specifically for a baseball…read moretournament. That said, the bleachers for this particular baseball field are not comfortable and a tight fit as far as leg room goes. (and I'm 5'4) Maybe bring a cushion, blanket or a towel for some tush comfort. We had an early morning game (9 a.m.) with sun already out and ended up setting the tent up for shade. There are some random areas to each side of the bleachers but more so for smaller tent set up or even lawn chairs in those areas and also near trees/grassy areas for some additional shade. If you plan to sit in the bleachers, come ready with the above stated and even umbrellas. There were a few moms on our team that sat in lawn chairs in front of the first row of bleachers. Not a whole lot of room though. Literally just 2-3 chairs there were set up. I also noticed another tent, maybe two can be set up next to the dug out (first base side). Another tip: bring something to wipe down or brush off your seat. There are Crepe Myrtle trees that shed their flowers onto those seats.

Absolutely no freedoms for the students, terrible layout. Basically half the school blocked off because of unnecessary construction and getting to class takes longer than it should. then, the teachers get and if you are late when there is thousands of students taking the same route because there's literally nowhere else to go, obviously theres traffic. in no world should it take three minutes to get inside through a door to get to a class, then have to walk across the entire school the long way because of an unnecessary barricade. Teachers have attitude, admin hate when they have to do their job, and AP's are mad at everyone just because they have a sad and miserable life.

Nor did they inform me which group I was registered in. I was registered in a family class which offers makeups, but they switched me to individual classes with no makeups without my knowledge. When I sent an email asking about a makeup day, they ignored my email instead of letting me know there are no makeups. They are scam and fraud! Beware of British Swim owned by Joe. He represents British Swim in a negative way. He is more interested in your money versus teaching people how to swim. They withdraw monies out of my account and didn't give 4 lessons totaling $160. They stole $160 from me. Sam the instructor was great. I hope she realizes that she works for thieves.

It cost too much money for the amount of time the individual attention each child receives at a…read moreclass that last 30 min and 5 min of playtime subtracted at the end. That's 25 minutes divided by 4 kids in the class so approximately 6 minutes for each child. The cost is about $4.30 a minute that your paying for. The model makes sense for the business but the consumer it's doesn't not.

However, I love the school regardless even if they are taking every dime I have to give me another edu'maction (I am sure that would make my professors proud). After doing a BA and a MS here - I have ventured back for another MS degree and now a regular at this campus. This location is so easy to get to - the classes are comfortable - and there's a coffee shop on the main floor open until 7 PM. The staff have been super friendly while I work to find my way around or need a jump for my car because my battery died. At least they always make me feel "special" given the amount of money I am investing in myself and their institution.

Parking is available and easy once you locate Building III, where the Professional Education Center is located. The second floor classrooms have pleasant views of trees and greater Austin. The building is fairly quiet - you hear a bit of road noise from Hwy 183 and occasionally hear voices from the neighboring classroom. The lab computers in room 203 were modern Dell workstations - 16 GB RAM, 3.5 Ghz processors, and dual monitors.

Good place to work. Great people to work with and for. Sure every school district has its issues…read more but the love and respect that I recieved in the 3 years I worked for this district was amazing! I had some issues with policies and procedures but through conversations with supervisors, principles and higher ups helped me understand why things were the way they were. After all PFISD is all about education and the children. The worst question is the one not asked. So, if you have any issues or complaints, dont just go off on these people. Ask questions and I guarantee you will see the light. I will miss everyone i met and worked with and i learned so much from everyone. I attended Palmer Lane, River Oaks, Westview middle School and Connally High School ( with one other elementary school thrown in, just for fourth graders that Ive forgotten the name of.) When you look at the alternate, AISD, you can clearly see the pflugerville benefits. I attended a high school that was brand new and looked like a mall, and performed theater in a brand new two story performing arts center. We had money for various activities.. and while no one was really rich on our district, we really epitomized the middle middle class. Although I have heard in past few years some of the schools have gotten rougher, I still stand firm that they are much better choice. Look at the pflugerville school district for small class sizes, mostly decent teachers and strong extra curriculars.

The best part about this place is that they have NO CONTRACTS for tutoring. If they don't meet expectations, you are welcome to end sessions any time.
