The Fest was busy with lots of participants. The hubster couldn't attend so I was solo, so I took my time talking with animal rights advocates who had booths. The reason I am giving this festival 3 stars is because when we checked the website out, it noted no coolers, no anything basically. So I was like okay, as long as there is concession I am cool. But seriously... only two beer station for what I counted as 20 to 40 thousand people showing up... the lines were ridiculously long. So what I chop it up to is come with little expectation. Bring your cooler as people did with water... and just enjoy the "country" atmosphere.

Before you get mad at me - I took a Lyft to and fro. Glad I did! Parking was a small jaunt from the event, it seemed. The opening cover band wasn't bad. A local business owner (that seemed further in than me) said that they were a cover band with a rotating cast or characters. Sounded good. Seemed cool. I didn't make it all the way to Pat Green, nor the foreworks, but I had a great time. Only criticism - a TON of cash only things.

We are lucky we live close by so we always bike here, so at least we can beat the traffic and the horrific price for parking. First year they ran out of gyros, no joke!!! Second year, no baklava sundae , ran out. This year, not enough that the prices skyrocketed, some vendors didn't even make an effort to print new menus, they literally just crossed prices and put whatever they wanted. Or, they wanted to go with the last year price but seeing all other vendors increased theirs... hmmmm ,, yeah !! Us too! We tried the gyro, no flavor, mediocre at best, so expensive , $12 for just the pita and the meat. No side, and they all wrapped up on trays, God knows how long they stay there. Lamb sliders and fries was our next choice, nothing special there either. Again, store bought slider buns and not enough meat, not tasty, fries also stay under a heat lamp, the frozen type of course. Like can you guys make some effort at least??? Fast paced, long lines, order, pay, GET OUT!!! We were not impressed at all. Best thing was the baklava sundae for sure. So... bye bye OPA! Greek festival. We had enough of your traps.

Pros: - Food trucks - 2 for $10 wine served in collectible plastic wine glasses - indoor bathrooms in the AA Center - as a female I avoid porta-potties - AA center open for people to sit down & watch the performers on the big screen *great way to warm up & get away from the crowds for a bit* - live performers - fireworks lasted a long time & were so close - I've been to SF for NYE & I have to say Dallas, you win hands down on you're NYE fireworks display! Con: I agree with H.T.'s review that it was horrible that event organizers changed rules last minute. The website said backpacks were allowed, but were refusing to let my BF inside. Security said they received a paper the day of the event with rules changes for what people are allowed to bring. Security said his backpack was large and wasn't allowed in! Huh?!? It's a regular sized backpack? Mini backpacks went out in the 90s!! We took the TRE train and didn't have a car to place my BF's backpack anywhere. Finally convinced them to let us inside due to the unfair changing of rules hours before the event! **Hey organizers if you're going to change the rules, do so days in advance, not hours before the event!** TIP - Take public transportation! There's so many people that if you drive you'll need to rush out as the fireworks start or risk getting stuck in traffic.

I had to keep looking away to avoid people from running into me as I stared up in the sky. 10 minutes, that is all I ask. You aren't getting out of there anyway with all the traffic in the first place, so enjoy the show. -Too many people brought their babies in strollers. It's called sacrifice until they are old enough. Either way, I will be back for the food trucks next year, the music, and then I will walk home and watch the show on t.v.

The vendors were plentiful this year too with a good variety. Everything wasn't all about being vegan (though a majority was) there were a lot of informative type booths as well. The food variety was awesome too. Who knew tofu could have so much flavor. The demo's were ok in the whole foods tent. A few audio issues and since I didn't have a program I had no clue what the speaker was talking about since I walked up mid-demo. A posted schedule would have been nice. I'm sure its was somewhere and I missed. Last but not least! The SHUTTLE BUS from the AAC was a life saver. Parking was a nightmare I didn't have because I rode the bus. #winning Overall great day!

That is until an officer walked along the lines asking if people had ticket in will-call and stated we were welcome to come on up to the front of the line if we did. Upon getting to the front of the line, in a shack next to the regular ticket booth, was a Will-Call ticket booth. It was one of those moments when you are like, :Could it be THIS easy?"...Guess what, it really was!!!
