This was my second year at the TX veggie fair and we loved it! Its one event where multiple food trucks, gift shops, small businesses all gather to celebrate everything that is vegetarian (many vegan items too!) my favorite food: We loved the Mexican stall that served fried avocados and fresh made tacos/tamale at great prices. The Thai restaurant was great too (loved their corn patties). Location: Reverchon park was too small for the event. I hope they host this at a different place next year. I really enjoyed myself at the Veggie Fest. First time to attend, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The park itself is lovely- lots of room & well-maintained. The Fest was busy with lots of participants. The hubster couldn't attend so I was solo, so I took my time talking with animal rights advocates who had booths. I also tried some tasty vegan food at the food tents! Many options between the tents & food trucks. I recommend the event to both herbivores and carnivores-- veg-heads are super friendly so everyone is welcomed! read more

The annual Texas Veggie Fair!! I am writing this review after experiencing it for years and in after seeing several different and the same vendors. I love the Veggie Fair. I think it's great that there's a vegan festival of this magnitude in Dallas every year. As the Fair grows, we should definitely look into having more chairs, tables, and a way to offer or access free water at the fair. There are great free items here every year, speakers, and a mesh of all walks of life :). I wore a shirt I designed and people LOVED it! It also generated some interested buyers and laughter too haha! I appreciate how many vendors are at each Fair and the variety of them. It is unfortunate that some vendors hike prices up for the fair but is understood because all fairs and vendors typically do the same. Such as how a state fair water bottle is $3+ for the same bottle that is $1 at a gas station. Check this place out and bring good attitude, a smile, and also gauge the weather for comfort! read more

This was my first time at Veggie Fest and for a part-time vegan like myself, this was an educational experience in all things veggie. There were sooo many vegan food vendors that I had never heard of, and even vendors selling vegan soaps, clothing and other items that I had no idea were even made with animal products. Lots of free samples to taste and try out products before making a purchase. Just be prepared to hunt for parking since it gets crowded around Reverchon. And there are LOTS of dogs there so just a heads up. Can't wait for next year! read more

This was my first year coming out to the Texas Veggie Fair and overall I had a pretty good time. Not being a vegetarian or vegan, I went in not really knowing what to expect. Initially I thought there'd be a farmers' market type element to it where I could buy some farm fresh produce, but it's more of a music festival and food truck event. The environment was fun. The performers were actually half-way lit, considering that alternative music and punk rock are't really my thing. I love how it wasn't crowded. Everyone had adequate space to spread out with picnic mats or sitting on the concrete playground ledge. Definitely family friendly! They allow pets BUT none of the pet water fountains worked so my little nugget was parched the whole time :( Some of the pathways were narrow and had gravel; there were elderly and mobility impaired guests that appeared to have a hard time getting through the winding path through the vendors.This, and the fact that the few trash cans that were there were overflowing - I had to dock some stars. Take public transit, uber, or lyft. I made the mistake of taking my car and had to circle around for 20 minutes until finally settling on parking at a friend's complex nearby and walking. The fried oyster mushrooms and vegan corn dogs were hits. I'm still stunned by how chicken - like the fried mushrooms were! They made my pre-game bacon breakfast seem frivolous lol. The popsicles looked awesome. The Cinnaholic cookies were out of this world. The vendor pricing was festival-steep, but considering that the event is free, this was expected. The small try of fried mushrooms was $11. I will be back next year! read more

This year was our 1st visit to the Texas Veggie Fair and it surpassed our expectations! Myself, my husband, and our two kids had a wonderful time. This is such a great event for our community. All of the food vendors we tried were great and we got some great merchandise as well. It's a one day event, so there were lots of people, but it flowed very well. read more

Wonderful event for the health conscious...whether you are vegan, vegetarian or just like to dabble in the lifestyle from time to time...there's something for everyone! Excellent venue too in the scenic/shaded Reverchon Park. There were a ton of food vendors & even food trucks serving up samples & meals for purchase. My favorite booth was the Holy Kombucha! The cucumber Thai basil brew was so spectacular I bought a big jug to take home! They also had folks selling jewelry, natural soaps/lotions & some incense. Beautiful day for it too. And best of all it's free! Bring the doggies & fam. Looking fwd to returning next year. Arrive early for a decent parking spot. read more

I don't know..maybe I missed something...but I didn't witness anything extraordinary at this event. It should be called the Texas Vegan Fair not a 'veggie fair.' I was hoping to see local farmers with produce. Maybe vegetarian type apparel, info, and foods too. But it was not a vegetarian festival it was a vegan event. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just the event title is misleading. The fair consisted of vegan food trucks, food vendors, arts and crafts, holistic approaches for well being and other miscellaneous businesses. Actually much smaller than I expected though. Literally just a bunch of tents set up with people selling over priced items (ie grocery tote bags $25). Many of the vendors didn't even bother to acknowledge me when I approached their booths so why would I even consider making a purchase?? There was basically no where to sit if you decided to grab a bite..unless you brought a blanket. And since it happened to be on a day after rain the grounds were muddy and wet. Parking wasn't terrible (I went around 430p). But overall the experience was a disappointment. I'm just glad there wasn't an entry fee. read more

I love this place so much that I now volunteer there. The vegan hot dogs were awesome. I haven't got to try too many of the different foods, but I am going to push my way through every food truck, no matter how hard that may be...lol. Texas Veggie Fair - Festivals Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I've been hearing about this event for years, but this was the first year that everything aligned so that I could go. I researched in advance, so I knew who and when the headliner would be, and was able to plan my day so that I wouldn't be tired and in the sun too long to enjoy that performance towards the end of the day. There are opportunities to sample, but you definitely don't want to come with an empty wallet. At the end of the day, this is a festival, so you will want to be able to buy food and treats to eat while you are there, as well as foods and non-edible items to take home. Most booths and trucks took cards, but a few were cash only, so keep that in mind. If you are like me, and like to start your day off at a leisurely pace, you will want to be prepared to walk a distance from wherever you can find parking. I knew to wear walking shoes, but some of the cute shoes I saw folks wearing made it clear that they didn't know what to expect. This is a very come-as-you-are environment, so while getting spiffy is fun, make sure that you are comfortable, too. Not knowing what to expect, I thought I had to leave my water bottle in the car, but I immediately realized that I could have brought it with me. You can pick up a bag or buy a tote from a vendor, but if you want to plan ahead and bring your own tote or bag, you might appreciate that foresight. Sunblock, sunglasses and mosquito repellent are also wise preparation measures. Some people brought camp chairs to watch the entertainment, but most people opted to sit on the grass. Coming with friends allows you to cover more ground, and even split and share different foods, especially if you are considering different vendors/trucks. The lines can get long, but most of the ones I was in or saw moved quickly, and people were in good spirits, so the waiting wasn't altogether unpleasant. See you next year! :-) read more

Quick look rating: 5/5 Food & Quality, 4/5 Service and 5/5 Price Great fest to try out veggie snacks and that type of all sorts! I love trying out all kinds of sorts of foods and knowing that these for the main part are healthier than other options! The only down side is the parking. NOTE: You may want to park a bit away and walk down the Katy trail, but do go in or with a group. Being in a group is a fun way to sample a number of items. From one food truck I tried a vegetarian hotdog, it was fantastic. I wish I had picked up their business card. A number of food trucks had their items priced affordable. The fest had a DJ playing some great tunes. Beer truck near by and a great exploratory attitude with a fun food adventure and I was set! I've been going for several years now and it's always on my radar to go this fest next year as well! See you there! read more

I was really excited to attend the Texas Veggie Fair, and my friend was looking forward to it too. My friend overheard a coworker talking about it and she chimed in that she was going to be attending too. This person said "Why? You're not a vegan. It's for vegans only." Hmmm, I wasn't aware vegetables were off-limits to non-vegans? This should have been a big clue as to what we were about to get ourselves into, but both of us could not get past the absurdity of this snobby vegan. I had seen the website. I knew there would be speakers, demos, vendors, music, etc. I still had pictured in my head a farmer's market, of sorts. I pictured lots of booths showcasing VEGETABLES, recipes for vegetables, samples of veggie dishes, ideas on how to use veggies I was not familiar with... That is NOT what this was. This event should be renamed to indicate that it is filled with vegan stuff. There were lots of booths giving samples of their vegan snacks and products, but I couldn't purchase on site. Instead they handed me a coupon and told me which store or website to go to. Lots of food trucks and tents where I could purchase victuals, but I didn't see any tables or benches where I could sit down and enjoy it. At least there was a Beer Garden, where we could throw back a cold one (vegan-friendly, of course). Oh, except they couldn't serve until noon. We had a big old conversation with the guy about it being Sunday and rules-schmules and blah blah blah. Then we stood around waiting 20 minutes, contemplating which beers we'd try first, second, etc. At 12:01 we make our way up to the counter and are informed that he doesn't have any beer available because the truck broke down on the way there. Seriously!?!? You didn't think to tell us this half an hour ago!?! He claims he did. I must have had a carrot stuck in my ear. Except there were no VEGETABLES**. **This is not entirely true. There was a lone booth that was offering CSA signups. They did have a handful of vegetables on their table. Overall, I'm very disappointed, mainly because the name of this event is misleading. read more

Adventures of an Omnivore in Veggie-Land. I found the event to be altogether completely charming, healthful and adorable. We came upon it by accident, trying to visit Reverchon Park simply to let my kid play and were surprised to find this free event had taken over. Parking was a nightmare in surrounding Turtle Creek, but once you got that taken care of and made it into the park, it was fantastic. I love that there's no admission. I love that there are plenty of greens left open for picnics and play. The stage has live music in the back, the playground is open for the kids. There is every vegetarian and vegan food trailer option you'd expect to find, juices galore, as well as ciders, beer, wine and organic sodas. I look forward to the next one and will get more adventurous with cuisine next time! read more

Wow and wow! There isn't too much else I can possibly say about the Texas Veggie Fair. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or an avid meat eater, there is something here for you. I must admit though, if you haven't embraced the plant-based lifestyle, this festival will surely work hard at changing your mind. From food trucks to live music, pet adoptions to booths with homemade jewelry - the Texas Veggie Fair is fun for people of all ages. Reverchon Park is a great place to have it as it is spread out wide but come early - parking can get tough. Your dogs are welcome to come along for the fun too but I would suggest they stay home as your hands will be way too full with goodies. The best part? It is entirely free! Not charging admission makes it a great place to browse and enjoy the scenery even if you don't end up buying anything! read more

Vendors, food trucks, local businesses, animal rights organizations, crafts, special speakers & chefs, and a few entertainment options! Due to the growing population, this event has moved to Reverchon Park this year (2012). The vegan food is unique, with options like: bahn mi's, Korean tacos, Chinese dishes, temple food, a German plate, and corny dogs. With the exception of the Vitamix samples, we believe all other food and drinks are vegan-friendly. All food was definitely vegetarian-friendly. The festival is also kid and dog friendly. If you choose to purchase a few tickets, kids can jump in the air house or trampolines. There is also a free kiddie playground natural to the park. We stayed for about an hour and a half and called it a day. This is recommended for people who are open-minded to trying different cuisines. read more

This was a great event! I had no idea how popular it was. I volunteered with Duck Team 6 (a great organization, I suggest everyone looks them up) and we had a booth right at the entrance, so it was great for everyone to see what we are all about. There was dozens of booths with vegan products, clothing, jewelry, food, treats, etc. The event was clean, organized and a major success. My only complaint would be the parking but if the location doesn't change next year then I doubt the parking situation will. I am looking forward to next year! read more

This is such a great event! Delicious food (vegan corny dogs OMG!), great speakers, interesting exhibitors, music and activities for the whole family -- and it's free! We all benefit from eating less meat - whether it's to help animals, protect the environment, or improve our own health. This is a great event to learn more or get started! read more
