Decided to try Steak Express Odessa this afternoon. I called in an order for pick up. First it took a rather long time for someone to answer the phone-around 4:30 pm. After placing my order I was told the total was $30.52. When I arrived for pick up it was 40.57. My mother's first bite of her hamburger had a freezer burn taste to it! I ordered the grill mix and the chicken was really tasty and grilled perfectly. However the steak bites were terrible!! They too had a very bad freezer burn taste! Was very disappointed in the food! My wife and I ordered our food at 8:00pm for delivery. The estimated time is 75min which I'm okay with. Well I called them at 9:30pm and let them know my food still hasn't arrived, they told us they're waiting for delivery drivers to take our meal. Well it's 10:20pm now and our food still isn't here so I called them again. They told us someone SHOULD be on their way and we proceeded to tell them that we've been waiting for two hours. Hands down the WORST Steak Express, or possibly even fast-food experience. We always make a point to eat at Steak Express when we're in TX and it's a big deal for us. We loved them when we lived in San Angelo a few years ago. This time though.. we were wondering why we didn't drive off. We placed an order on July 1st, an hour before closing as we were driving into town after a 12-hour trip. We were hungry and tired and looking forward to getting food from our beloved chain restaurant. We got to the drive-thru and the girl there was on her phone. We actually waited several minutes looking at each other like, "is she serious?" She opened the window and seemed confused; as if she'd never heard of our order being placed. By this point, going by the 15-minute time frame they quoted us at ordering, our food should have been packed and on its way to our hotel room so we could eat. Except it wasn't. I told my husband we should leave, but it was late and raining and we were all (four of us) hungry. We waited several more minutes and another car pulled in behind us. Around 15-minutes of waiting in the drive-thru and we pulled to the front so this person could be told their own order likely wasn't ready. Sure enough, they were waiting there as long as we were by the time we left, but I digress. The girl who was on her phone and the staff in the back seemed to be taking their sweet time. It was clear they hadn't made the order at all and it was bad enough, but they never even apologized for THEIR MISTAKE. Then, when it was finally ready--close to 45-minutes at this point, my husband had to run back inside as they forgot our side items. Again, no apology. I could see a man working at the counter and wondered why from where I was sitting in the car it looked like he wasn't doing anything. Oh, that's because he wasn't. My husband said when he went in there he learned this guy's only job was to take orders. Okaaay. This was just a crappy experience, but I will give them the one star in that the food was still delicious. The service was terrible and the owner would be wise to let some of them go. It's tacky to be sitting there on your personal cellphone when there are people waiting right there, but the lack of customer service was really sad. read more

I was stuck in my hotel room in Odessa Texas visiting my boyfriend and we couldn't leave because my dog tears up the hotel room when I do. I found this company on the web and we ordered two ribeyes and sides and drinks and they were just excellent cooked to order. everything was delivered that we ordered food was perfect. So much that when we were in Prescott Arizona we both remembered steak Express and wanted to have steak again but no steak express in Arizona so we had to suffer to go to Texas Roadhouse. I am here in Odessa Tx all the time for work. I was told about this place about a week ago and now on my third order for delivery! I keep ordering the large Ribeye and I have to tell you all, that chef can grill a ribeye GOOD!!!! They are always on time every time. I saw a review on here complaining about the 50 min wait... If y'all want a steak cooked right and it's being delivered on top of that with all this oil field traffic out here that is NOT a long wait... My orders always say 60 min and it's usually between 50-60 min all three times. That's very good time to grill and deliver out here! I would give this place 10 stars if I could! read more

Placed an order for a cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, 2 bags of chips, 2 drinks, and one slice of pie. Took about an hour and a half for the delivery. The driver then told me he needed to collect the money for the pie. I guess when I added it on they couldn't add it to the card for some reason. I called to pay for it and that took another 5 to 10 minutes. After the driver left, we discovered the pie wasn't even in the bag. Called back and was told they would call the driver to bring it back. After 15 minutes called the store and was told someone else was bringing the pie. That was nearly 15 minutes ago. Morale of this review: do not ask for delivery go to the store to pick it up. The food was good but the service is terrible. I'll update if I ever get the pie. read more

Well they didn't tell him and he didn't have the change. Right then I should have known that this place was gonna be bad. So we tried to do pick up and that was a mistake also. They over charge us at the window for what we ordered then they don't give us our whole order. We ordered three loaded baked potatoes and only received two and we ordered sauteed mushrooms and only got onions. So we called back to let them know of the mistakes and they said they would have a driver bring us the missing items. They never brought out missing items. Very poor customer service. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes from the time i ordered to be delived. The food was cold and very unappetizing. (Tough, cold steak that i did not even want to feed to my dog.) When i called to check on my order, they insisted that i had just put it in 5 minutes proir. I had an emal confirmation from an hour before that though and told them that. I wish that i had just cancelled the order, by that time. At first this place was heaven sent until they started hiring new people. we started eating here starting in July 2014 stopped eating here in September 2014( shows how fast the food went down hill) After the new hiring Food started to arrive cold. Steak was tough and over cooked, the hamburgers just didnt taste right no more. They kept forgetting things like the condiments and small stuff that came extra, then actually forgot FOOD. I called the store and the manager NEVER called me back. I called to have order delivered in time for my husband to come to hotel where we are staying for lunch. Asked for delivery time was told 45min to hour. The bread was hard,the butter sour cream for potato was hot, the steak tips had to be reaheated in microwave, the salad dressing was warm. The ice teas.had no ice ,was hot.. only reason we accepted the meal was my husband had to eat something before he went bsck to work late from lunch because they was late i didn't know everything was so messed up on the order or i wouldnt have taken it. Rge delivery driver stated he had another order way across town and was speeding to get here at the fundome..i called the manager back let her know when the order arrived. Come on people get it together!! Last few times we have ordered online from the Odessa location it "merely" took 2 hours for our food to be delivered. We were just fooling ourselves by giving them the benefit of the doubt. We spoke with the manager, Michelle, and she decided to take it upon herself to cancel the order, after 2 hours later, since we didn't not come to the door. My husband's phone was on vibrate due to a strenuous day at work where a few were layed off. The cameras did in fact showed the driver coming by but no doorbell was used. Our room is the furthest from the front door and therefore we never heard the knock. We have been a regular customer for a good solid two years. We love the option to order in and will continue to do so just not with these guys. Basin delivery has more options and better service. read more
