Had to buy your own drink. 2nd place was very small and super crowded for an entire bus load of people. 3rd place had extremely bad service. 4th place was basically a bar and had no idea we were coming. So, for $108 I got 7 samples/tastings, paid an additional $40 for 2 drinks at 2 diff places, and possibly served unsafe food. Emailed the company and got a crappy response. I attended Wino Festivals on March 20, May 8 and July 10. The setup for the Wino Festival is that there are 7 vendors from various Texas wineries to sample and then you can buy a glass or bottle to enjoy. There's also usually oils and delicious cheeses and jams to also sample and purchase. What I like: This is a great opportunity to learn more about the various wineries in Texas. The participating wineries also bring a variety of dry and sweet red and white wines so there's something for every type of wine drinker. I tend to like sweet wines but I've had the chance to try some great dry wines at these events. It's usually the owners or a knowledgeable staff member that is representing each winery. So, they have a lot of pride in their wines and are happy to talk about their products. There's also usually some sort of discount deal offered if you buy multiple bottles of wine. Atmosphere: The events are not too crowded (an intentional choice by Texas Winos) so you can enjoy yourself. There are tables where you can sit, open a bottle you've purchased and enjoy a glass or 2 while listening to live music. Plus, there is also a food vendor (barbecue at each event I attended) if you want to have a meal while you eat. What I don't like: Parking at both locations is limited. Texas Winos does encourage attendees to carpool or utilize Uber/Lyft. So, keep that in mind while planning how you'll get to the event. Different food options: I tried the barbecue the second time that I attended and it wasn't bad but it would be nice to have a second option. I think a vendor selling charcuterie cups (savory and sweet options) would be a hit. Now, that I've attended 3 events over the last few months, I've noticed that there are usually some repeat wineries at the events. However, there's still enough variety though that I enjoyed each Wino fest. BOTTOM LINE: I recommend that you attend a wine festival. It's a great deal and you and your friends will have a good time and leave with a new knowledge of Texas wine and probably a bottle or two. read more

If I could, I wouldn't give this business any stars. A groups of friends and I signed up for this wine tour for APRIL 6. We were told the bus was running late, then the bus broke down, and ultimately the tour was cancelled because of the windshield wipers not working on the other bus. Now, I've waited patiently for the last 2 months, approaching 3 MONTHS and the owner completely ghosted me. Everyone has received their refund, expect for myself. I do not recommend and I have attached the last correspondence I received from Richard, the owner. Please beware of these people. 3.5 Stars When I think of the fine art of wine drinking I always defer to Alexander Payne's film, "Sideways." While I did like that movie it has never really inspired me to partake in the vino. Not in the way it has inspired that industry. Nonetheless I never discount the passion of that specific community. As a craft beer enthusiast I try to keep an open mind and an open palate. So I was invited to attend this event with my partner in crime. Both of us are novice wine drinkers. Did this bias my review? I tend to think any experience can supersede or dash our expectations by its own weight. Typically Texas Winos does a bus tour where you visit different wineries. This particular festival was held in of all places a civic center meant for wedding receptions, birthday parties and quinceañeras. Personally I have no qualms attending an event at a muddy field, a dive bar or at a boujee affair. I'm wondering if attendees were disappointed by the not so upscale provisions? You purchase tickets online. It's slightly cheaper the earlier you buy them. You pick a time slot, which are in two hour increments. This is mainly to control the size of the wine demos, but I'll come back to this point later. When you check in you are given a sheet with all the wineries participating. You go to each table with accompanying wines and each label does their spiel. The manner in which sample tastings were handled confused me. Basically couples of two, a group of friends and a few stragglers at a time would go through a demo rotation. Some stations had multiple wines, thus you would have to wait awhile before you got to any tastings. Once you went through each offering: chardonnay, pinot grigio, merlot, white, red, rosè, etc. you would be done. Which in hindsight probably did keep the lines at a minimum. However you would be in one line and a group of twenty friends would camp out, with little regard that others were there for the same reason. In addition I felt there was little time to process each pour. You couldn't move on to the next style of wine without first finishing your sample. Which felt like a class moving sometimes in rhythm but most times at a snail's pace. For the most part demos were very informative. Surprisingly the wines I liked best were done by presenters who served as gracious hosts. But there were a few who were so snooty, to serve me was to undermine their vineyard. Speaking as a craft beer enthusiast I understand every drinking community has its own set of implied manners. At this event what subtracted from my experience was having ultra pushy festivalgoers. For example I was in one line in the midst of a tasting and some arbitrary dude tapped me on my shoulder to move. In another whilst an owner was presenting her wines "homeboy" asserted himself, completely ruining my experience. You would be waiting in one line and people from nowhere would impolitely cut in. Is this typical behavior at a wine festival? As a beer drinker my credo is to "To drink and to let drink." Not to say there is complete civility and organization within the craft beer community. It's just that I left feeling a bit hollow. Yes, lines were kept to a minimum but after the rotation the experience felt anticlimactic. I will say one bright spot was a festivalgoer, named Lauren who was having way too much fun. She offered her suggestions on which wines to try. I wish her friendly spirit would've been sprinkled on the crowd that day. I think if you like wine and want to get sauced for a reasonable price I say this event is for you. It's interesting that a grape, a peach or a strawberry for that matter when fermented can make you tipsy. With alcohol beverage volumes at 12 percent and up I don't expect you to be doing the, "Achy Breaky Heart" perfectly. I'm trying hard to be open minded about wine and maybe I will find one that suits me. But a scene where people are too egocentric, classy gals drop sample glasses and there's no variation in flavors between samples. Well I guess I'm doomed to be a beer guy. Tear. read more

How excited do y'all think I was to be invited by Wino to their Texas Wine Fest in San Antonio? The festival is indoors and my ticket included admission, a souvenir wine glass, and wine tastings. There were also vendors with olive oils and cheese to sample, music, and food available for purchase. Better yet, 100% of those sales go directly to Texas Wineries! I brought my friend Chad to his first wine tasting and we both brought home bottles of wine from Vinovium - he got the Sweet Red and I got the Moscato. The event is low key, with a limited number of people, so you don't have to worry about crowds or the wineries running out of wine to sample. When I Checked out I received notification in order to partake in the tasting, I had to pay an additional $235, which brought my total for four people right at $500. Of I had purchased my tickets from Texas Winos, we would have saved more than half the amount spent through Groupon. Do not purchase through Groupon, go to Texas Winos website to get your tickets. The tour was fun, but we were unable to purchase items we wanted bc it was a Sunday. Tour from San Antonio: I recently went on yet another TX Winos tour to Fredericksburg. We have been going with TX Winos for many, many, many years and trips to Fredericksburg. I must express how DISAPPOINTED I have become with TX Winos. This company has gone WAY down. My husband and I went in May 2025 and were supposed to be accompanied by two friends who received an email as they were en route that the trip was cancelled due to a driver emergency. This turned out to be a big LIE, and was in fact told to many others on various trips. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, my friends and I took another TX Winos trip to Fredericksburg (as requested by my friend). I must say that this was one of THE WORST experiences with TX Winos. I was so embarrassed to actually be in the TX Winos group. First off, the van to pick us up was very raggedy and unkempt in appearance (I have pictures to prove it). The van had "salvaged looking, mismatched" seats in the very rear that were extremely low to the floor, a big taped up area as if the van was pieced together to extend it, 2 mismatched window unit air conditioners in the make shift rear area, 2 oscillator fans blowing also, and the driver/"guide" (Victor) was rude-ish and dismissive to the patrons' needs. The music was not a variety for all listening pleasure, and Victor was a VERY POOR communicator to the patrons and the facility staff. The van was a very ROUGH ride and has caused me back discomforts. At the Mendelbaum Winery, staff were not even expecting us, thus they were very unprepared. I do not have the desire to ever pay for such poor service and aesthetics. Also, the variety of wineries that were expected, was unmatched. We only visited 2 wineries, there was no live music (as advertised on the tour itinerary), and there was no BBQ lunch as advertised (they served Italian unexpectedly). read more

On April 19th Richard email me refund should be o refund to my card. By May 6 I email them because I haven't got my money back. May 8 the I received a respond with excuses of why I haven't got my money. And that I should have it with In 24-48 hours. It's June 6 and I'm still waiting. I email Richard and he ignored my emails. This place is a scam if you aren't able to make it. I booked months in advance and then a month before the tour I couldn't go after all. I emailed, called and left messages. They finally emailed me back and told me I could go another day they ignored my request for a refund even though their website says that they would give a refund as long as it was reported by a certain time when it clearly was way before that time. Their only option was to reschedule for another day so then I requested what other tours they're going to have and I've been requesting to reschedule ever since I'm not getting any emails back or any calls back so they pretty much just scam me for money and never let me go on the tour. This happened last year and I'm still emailing at least once a week since then because that's $200 I'm losing. I paid for two people. I've been to 5 different events hosted by Texas Winos. 3 were wine bus tours to Fredericksburg and 2 were wine tasting events in San Antonio. All have been enjoyable. The bus tours pick you up in SA and make 3-4 stops in Fredericksburg. The trip includes all tastings and lunch. It's a fun event with friends, couples, or your significant other. Make sure to inquire about what type of bus you will be on if know you'll need a restroom - one of ours was more of a tour type bus with no restroom. Not a big deal for me, but it might be for some. I highly recommend one of these tours. So much fun! The tasting events in SA were just as fun. Lots of wine to try, live music, and inside in AC. The only thing I'd recommend is more options for food. So don't go hungry because the first event did not have food until after about 2pm and the second event only offered bbq (I didn't try so can't comment on taste). Hello, I haven't received any response after 3 weeks and 9 Inquiries for the refunds that are needing to be issued for 8 different people after speaking with the owner/manager and having emails stating they would take care of it and said they were processed. I have filed a report and have all correspondence prepared to validate information. I have been emailing to see what the status is and get receipt confirmation for the refunds provided and I have been ignored over and over, this is so unprofessional and unnecessary This agency has the worst communication, the actual staff in person was unhelpful and had a very bothered demeanor. Of course, they offered another date, which happen to be none of them in El Paso at that time. I asked for a full refund 10/16/2024, Received a generic email "Checking to confirm you received this past email" (2nd Email). Email sent again 10/24/2024 and 10/29/2024 requesting refund. On 10/29/2024, they finally answered stating they will process a full refund, and it may take 4 business days if I come in-person. I just advise to provide a refund, it's been 22 days no refund. We celebrated my daughter's 30th (a year late thanks to snowmaggedon!) and took a bus from San Antonio to Fredericksburg. We had a wonderful time-the wineries were great, the tour guide and driver were great, the owner sends many emails to ensure we know what to do, where to go...they really care whether you have a great time or not, and we certainly did! The only reason I didn't rate it 5-stars is the buy could use some repairs, some ripped headrests, broken cupholders, and the bathroom wasn't working. Honestly, though, it didn't interfere with our good time, you get toilets at the wineries and they even stopped for a break on the way home at a QuikTrip. They really promote that everyone has a good time! Highly encourage! I also went on a Texas Winos tour from Dalas (up to north of Dallas) and it was also wonderful...the bus was in better shape on that earlier tour...but again, the company is first-rate! read more

I went to the Texas Wino event in San Antonio !! It was great and I would definitely go back! I would also recommend to friends . I got to try various wines that I never would have known about . I bought some great wines and am so excited to go visit some "new" to me wineries. My only suggestion for the event would be to have other vendors besides BBQ! I know there were some cheese and olive oil vendors but I would have liked to see some vendors that offered some kind of pasta to compliment the various wines. It was also on the warm side inside the venue but once the number of people reduced it was cooler . What to look for on each event - the vendors rotate, even with the wine selections! When I anticipate a "wish list" of wines, there's more to taste and sample! The bus is always a good time, the hosts are amazing and the entire experience is awesome. My gf and I do a few of these a year when we have people from out of town come visit. So let me tell you, I thought I was happy and satisfied as a customer of Texas Winos, but I am not. So let's start at the beginning. My wife's friend was having a birthday and wanted to do a wine tasting tour with a bunch of friends. So we all decided to get a groupon and go with Texas Winos. When you buy the groupon, you still have to go to their website and register and pay a fee ($72 for both my wife and myself). Everything went smooth until we received an email that there was an issue with processing the payment and that we were most likely affected. The issue was that the processor for their credit card had mistakenly changed the decimal point, so we were charged $720 instead of $72. That's a HUUUUGE difference. So after I emailed Richard Wino, he said the problem was being taken care of and that they will be processing the correct amount. 1 day later, we get ANOTHER charge for $720 on our credit card, so now our credit card shows that we paid $1440 to Texas Winos. I emailed Richard Wino again and told him the situation. He responded quickly and stated that he is going to cancel all of the transactions and they weren't going to charge us for the $72 either. Richard Wino even offered to give us complimentary tickets to another even because of the errors. My wife and I were delighted and told him we would love to go to the Wino Fest in November and he said he would take care of it. Well, he didn't. It took about 1 month to get the refund on my credit card. Really slow compared to how fast they took $720 from my credit card TWICE. And even after going through all that, I thought it was ok since they were being nice and apologetic and offered us complimentary tickets to another event. BUT, we never received our complimentary tickets to another event! I know they're free, but what bothers me is that they went back on their word, and THEY STOPPED RESPONDING TO MY EMAILS after the amounts were corrected. I tried emailing Richard Wino a few times since the end of October when we were told that the WINO FEST HAD BEEN RESCHEDULED AND THEY FORGOT TO NOTIFY US (But we never received tickets or anything to begin with). I know that they were free tickets offered and shouldn't be petty, but when someone goes back on their word and stops responding to emails, it bothers me. What if I had been charged the $1440 and he never responded or even attempted to correct the situation? I am attaching emails which have time stamps of the conversations PS. The Texas Wino events are always a great time. Most recently I attended a Wino Fest. There were 7 wine vendors there, all from Texas, with a good variety of wines to sample. There was a also live music, a delicious cheese vendor and a vendor with tasty olive oils. They had a bbq truck there as well and although I didn't try it, it smelt great and heard goid things! Our group made the most of the trip as best as we could, however the overall experience with the company was not what we had hoped for. We booked this tour for my partners birthday and we were advised the night before the trip that our tour had been cancelled due to the bus driver having COVID and no back up driver available. They offered to put us on another tour which we accepted but no response from the owner for confirmation until 2 hours before departure the day of! We got to the pick up location and the bus driver was 1 hour late, so tour stops at the wineries were cut short. The tour guide Matthew was very unprofessional/inappropriate and didn't seem like he knew what was going on or how to handle the situation at all. Examples: he used the "n" word multiple times, he kept hitting on one our friends in the group and made inappropriate comments to her, bus didn't have enough seats for everyone, bus driver was on face time with his girlfriend more than half of the wine tour, etc. Understandable, the wine tour is supposed to be fun and relaxed, but this was just unprofessional and ill prepared. Management really needs to focus on their staff and how they portray the company and image. read more

Beware of booking group tours with Texas Winos! Our group completed a wine tour with this company Dec 3, 2022. I discovered 1/17/23 that my credit card used to purchase 2 tix on 10/3/22 for a total of $159.38 was charged again weeks later on 12/29/22 in the amt of $1,593.80! I contacted Richard N from Texas Winos on 1/17/23 and demanded this charge be refunded immediately. He quickly responded via email 1/18/23, claimed the issue would be resolved in a couple days. I followed up a week later, however no further responses from Richard. In his only response he claimed this overcharge was due to a 'weird kink' in their invoice system when creating group tours. According to him, After the event is over, an outstanding invoice for a certain amount of people was processed by their company. Richard acknowledged this problem or 'weird kink' was identified sometime in November and they thought it was resolved, but did not understand that it was because of the groups they were creating. I asked Richard since his company knew overcharging was an issue back in November 2022 why weren't clients booked around that time period notified or asked to review charges due to the identified glitch? It feels to us that unless the fraudulent charges were stopped by card issuer, or in my case, discovered by reviewing statements and finding extraordinary charges, someone at this company is pocketing unreported / undiscovered overpayments. After notifying my friends that were part of our group tour to review their CC statements I discovered nearly every person who made ticket purchase was charged, or charges attempted, between $1200 to nearly $1600! What should have been a great memory with friends has turned into everyone from our group feeling victimized due to financial exploitation. Each impacted person in our group who reported this fraud to our respective credit card issuers has had accounts closed , cards re issued, investigations started by Banks to resolve. This has caused stress, interruptions to automatic payments from those impacted cards. Lastly, I checked the Better Business Bureau for Texas Winos rating. While they are not an official member, this company has an F rating from the Austin BBB.
