She was running ten minutes late so I totally get how that can be a hassle since I've been in the hospitality industry. It didn't feel the best to wait ten past my appt time plus the add'l ten mins I chose to arrive early. But again, I get it. She called my first name from the hallway when usually I've had estheticians come out all the way into the reception area and say, "hi my name is... I will be doing your [service] today." Ok. Fine...... No big deal to me I just want the thing done and it's okay. We entered the room and she didn't say a word so I got undressed. I hate being a prissy patron. I wasn't going to mind that the ladies usually say something nice when it's time to strip down and get on the table. This review wouldn't even exist if it weren't for how it went, overall: I tried to relax because I know some people have very serious faces, and maybe she was trying to catch up after being late. Tbh, I would be pissed at that point in my workday. But then she goes... "if you don't [get in a certain position] it's only gonna hurt more." I said something like, "I'll try my best..." (knowing that I'm way too uncomfortable at this point and anything from here on out is just gonna be reflex-reactions)... Finally after my asking for a few moments of pause so I could relax more, and she said something, I said, "I wasn't gonna say anything but you're making me really ill-at-ease." When I stopped it just before the last strip application she goes, "I don't think waxing is for you, love." I'm forty and look 15 but I used to get a Brazilian wax monthly throughout all my 20s. We both get therapeutic massage frequently as part of physical therapy so we're picky -- and this was definitely quality. Although I had various checkups over the years and this was not identified as a concern. He biopsied it, and it is a rare sarcoma that has since been removed and thankfully caught before it spread. Which he called before the biopsy came in. This man is so smart he had never seen this type of tumor only saw it presented in conference. It is literally one in a million. He also identified a spot on my arm that I had not noticed but I know was not there very long. This was melanoma. Also caught early removed with clear margins. Dr. Kern's expertise, thoroughness and skill has essentially saved my life. He is kind, and a true patient advocate. He and Maryann supported and comforted me and my family during the stressful time of waiting for results. He referred me to a specialist to remove the sarcoma and has checked up on me several for a progress report. My husband indicates that he is a super hero. I cannot say enough about this doctor. Having been in healthcare for over 30 years I have crossed paths with many great physicians. A bonus is he has excellent surgical skill as my melanoma scar is barely noticeable.
