TGI Friday's branch in Wembley, London opposite the stadium and just outside the London Designer Outlet was the subject for a dining experience so horrific for the name to say "Thank God" it must be sarcastic, as it should be Satan who is thanked for this monstrosity.
Tired and hungry after struggling to eat nearby with so many places either busy or having problems with delivery - I decided to try out TGI's as despite having a huge restauraunt, as is common with the chain it seemed rather quiet - I was able to get a seat straight away. So far - so good right? But then... I was about to play the waiting game to the point I felt like asking one of the clueless servers if I had to wait until Friday to get my food - I visited on a Sunday. (too many servers running around doing nothing in the central area - no servers at the front of the store meaning no one checked up on me or even bothered to take my order).
After over 10 minutes my order was taken - the person who took my order was rude and abrupt and told me they couldn't modify any of the dishes on the regular menu to make it suitable for me - I wanted a plain or garlic chicken and eventually had to settle for the really overpriced BBQ chicken.
A few minutes later someone else came up to me and checked my order word for word taking it down again, why do they need to waste my time more, why don't they just get on with cooking my food? Do they not trust the last server?
After the long wait for my food as an optimist, I saw the place wasn't too busy so I didn't expect a long wait, especially with staff not warning me about wait times when I came in so I waited... and waited... and waited.... and I waited, it probably took close to an hour to get my food which I even had to chase up with a staff member after asking to cancel my order - they refused and brought my food 5 minutes after that.
When my food was served I was told it took so long because it was an allergy and they contaminated it - why was it contaminated in the first place, don't they have measures in place? One might argue it is good they didn't serve it to me, but it seems they just put me to the back of the queue in terms of orders in the kitchen as they expected me to wait without being told what was going on - still rudely acted like they had done me a favour?
My food arrived lukewarmly, parts of it were stone cold and it was just horrible and bland - the BBQ sauce was just a sticky mess, it tasted of nothing other than sticky black sauce on a poor, cheap cut of chicken - but the fact is at £14.99 it wasn't cheap.
I was also expecting small corn on the cob with it, but I actually got a small mixed salad which included baby corn in a mixed salad - again bland with no seasoning. Disgusting
It got to the point whereby the time my food came I felt tired, drained and hungry having not eaten all day - not forgetting my headache due to the really loud music which the staff refused to turn down - I tried to eat my food just through sheer hunger and illness as my sanity drained: until my bites turned into gags and I couldn't eat any more. Staff were again disinterested with my complaints regarding the food or waiting time.
It is clear to me that TGI's Wembley isn't just bad but it is rancid and the staff don't seem to give a fuck about waiting times or customer service - being at the front of the store you'd expect to see a staff member a lot but I was just ignored and neglected and left to feel more like a burden or a laughing stock than a customer.
