Abbott Plumbing and Drain - Bathroom remodel

    Abbott Plumbing and Drain

I would truly give Abbott Plumbing and Drain 0 stars if I could. We have experienced a nightmare of…read morea situation based on their con-based practices through a forced partnership through Landmark Home Warranty (please please steer clear of them - more on that below). Three weeks ago (three! weeks!) we opened a ticket with Landmark Home Warranty to replace our Water Heater that had died. It took a couple of days for them to get back to us, and when they finally did they had Abbott Plumbing come out to diagnose the problem. So far so good. Pretty normal or average experience, if not a bit slow to preference. Abbott determined that a new water heater was necessary, and collected the model number from us and went on their way, waiting for Landmark to order a new water heater. Once the water heater was ordered, Abbott picked it up and installed it in our house. Wonderful! Just one week without hot water. Manageable. Inconvenient, but manageable. ...except the water heater didn't work. The plumber scratched their head and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. "I'll need to take this error code back to Landmark as we diagnose the problem and make sure it's covered by warranty." A few days pass. We hear back from Landmark. The water heater they ordered and had Abbott install was not compatible with the flue system in our home. A compatible flue system is not covered under the warranty. So Landmark ordered a part and had that part installed by Abbott, who then told us we had to pay them thousands of dollars out of pocket to "cover the modifications" which aren't covered by our warranty company. We weren't notified of any of this before installation occurred, and are now cornered with an unwanted (and not functional) water heater. 5 calls and two more weeks later, we still don't have hot water in our house. We're calling a new plumber and cancelling our policy with Landmark immediately. It's a con job, guys. Please please don't give them your money. So disappointed and disheartened by this whole experience.

I am an interior designer in the Sl area. I have worked with hundreds of contractors over the past 18 years and Chameleon Projects is the very best. They are honest and hardworking. They show up every day until the remodel is finished. They are NOT typical contractors who come for two days, then disappear for a week or more. They work hard every day and they finish every single little detail. They become friends with their clients. At the end of projects, clients are happy. That is rare too. You will not regret hiring Chameleon Projects!

We hired Devco Construction for a whole-home remodel, and unfortunately our experience ended very…read morepoorly. Toward the end of the project, with several contracted items still unfinished, communication became extremely difficult. Workers stopped consistently showing up, calls and messages went unanswered, and Brian ultimately told us that he did not intend to complete the remaining work. We were left with unfinished work including backsplash installation, portions of the appliance installation, cabinet upgrades, and other remaining items included in our agreement. More concerning, we had already paid toward materials that Brian told us had been purchased. When it became clear he was walking away from the project, we requested the receipts and the materials we had paid for. He did not provide the receipts because the materials had not actually been purchased, did not provide the materials, and did not return the money we had paid toward them. We were left having to purchase those items ourselves in addition to finding people to complete his remaining scope of work. What makes this particularly disappointing is that we had a detailed, signed agreement outlining the scope, material purchases, payment structure, and final reconciliation. We upheld our financial obligations throughout the project. We expected our contractor to uphold his obligation to finish the work and properly account for our money. Regardless of whatever circumstances led to his decision, walking away from a customer's home before the contracted work is complete--and keeping money paid toward materials that were never purchased--is unacceptable. I strongly recommend that anyone considering Devco Construction document every payment and material purchase, request receipts as purchases are made, and avoid paying ahead of completed work.
