As other reviewers have mentioned, the service here is ... unusual. The approach of the wait staff to customers is quite abrupt. As an example, we asked to keep a menu, and the waitress told us no. She said if we decided we wanted to order something else later we could ask her for the menu and she would bring it back. We also asked for silverware to eat our dessert because it looked delicious, but was too hot to touch, and she said that wasn't appropriate because the dish was meant to be eaten with your hands. This is a fair comment, but it's just a little unusual in terms of the service industry in Venice, Florida. If you come to eat here early, they also are definitely trying to rush you out to make room for the diners later in the evening. Service is very efficient, but I think the expectation is that you'll be in and out in less than an hour. Happy crab: this is a whole fried crab with tasty sautéed vegetables surrounding it. I ate the whole thing and had no leftovers, even though it was a giant portion. A word of warning, I don't mind when fried things get soaked and sauce, and then somewhat mushy, that is what this will taste like to you, so, if you don't like your fried things to be smothered in liquid, order a different dish. Comes with sticky rice that was also quite good. 5/5 Cashew sauté: this was not great. Very few cashews, and the flavor was a little lackluster. Vegetables were cooked OK but as I said, just a bit flavorless. 2/5 Parking is very easy, this restaurant is in a strip mall so if you make it to dinner early, there'll be no trouble with parking. The dining room was empty on a Thursday at 5:15, we had made a reservation anyway, but it was definitely full by the time we left at 6 o'clock. read more

Lived here for nearly three years and finally tried this place by ordering take out. We called around 5:30 and asked for a 7:30 pick up. It worked so smooth even for a busy Saturday night. They had it ready right on time and it was hot and fresh. Between the four of us we had two orders of chicken Pad Thai, one chicken green curry, and mine was Siam chicken. We all agreed portions were quite large and they were SO GOOD. The meats were all tender and the flavors were to die for. My brother was reminiscing about the best Thai he ever had in Pai, Thailand and he said this was a close second. My husband's medium spicy level Pad Thai was very spicy...so not sure if it was inaccurately prepared or if medium is just that hot. But my medium Siam chicken was very easy to eat and the chili garlic sauce was delicious. I could have used more rice though (but maybe eating in I could have gotten more vs. take out). We haven't had any Thai in Venice since living here but we don't have to look any farther to find better. This will be our go to! read more

Service: 4.5 Their wait staff killed it with the timing- super quick to bring out the drinks and food! Loved that they got down to business asking what we wanted. Wish we knew their names to give them shoutouts but we weren't really greeted or told their names. They all smiled though and were pleasant with customers. We didn't have plates,utensils or napkins for dessert so we just ate with our hands lol Food: 4 I got a mild curry and my dad got a medium spice curry. They tasted about the same. I selected the vegetable Massaman and was underwhelmed by the amount of vegetables. I can't say I left starving though. I liked the donuts. The sauce wasn't too sweet and complimented the donuts. My dad liked the crushed peanuts but I would have preferred without. Parking: 3 It's a small restaurant anyways, the lot is quite small so depending on time of night, you may be parking on the street? Or waiting for a spot. Pricing: 3.5 The prices were OK. Again, I didn't feel the prices reflected the quantity proportionally. There wasn't a lot of duck in my dad's dish to justify the $25.50 price point. Atmosphere: 3.5 There's a little bit of Thai flare in the decor but other restaurants really jazz up the place with native decorations. Overall, it appeared clean and that's what matters most! Found this place by accident driving through Venice on our way to Bradenton. Man were we surprised, we certainly did not expect to find amazing Thai food in Southwest Florida. Our waitress was friendly, and the rest of the staff were very attentive. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. Was on a mini weekend getaway in Venice and was craving Thai food. Found this gem. We ordered the Crab Rangoons to share, which are wonton wrapper stuffed with imitation crab meat and cream cheese with a Thai curry seasoning. Amazing! Love the seasoning. I ordered the Tofu Pad Thai, which is tofu with rice noodles that are sautéed with egg, ground peanuts, bean sprouts, scallions, and topped with cilantro. So good! Very flavorful. read more

The food is excellent - service, needs work. I ordered food to go, and I waited well over an hour. I was told it would be about 34-45 minutes. I don't care much for having to wait, though, i I was told they serve those in the dining room before working on to go orders - which, I paid over $100 for my food, (well worth it) but to be told someone that ordered food the same moment as me, paid the same amount, yet I am not priority is a bit disappointing. I have worked in food service in the past and while I understand there is very little control a host has of the kitchen and predicting the night, I hope management establishes a better system for take out orders to expedite, and not feel like a second class citizen paying the same, waiting double the amount of time initially told. For all other reasons, it deserves 5 stars, but this needs attention. read more

Ate here for lunch. Had the Pad Thai with the crispy duck and an order of Fresh Spring rolls with shrimp. The peanut sauce served with the spring rolls was watery and weak. We went with some family here for Thai dinner. The service was fast and polite, but a but pushy. We ordered spring rolls for appetizer for 4 people. The the rolls came cut in half, so we each had a half a roll. For meals, we had mostly noodle dishes all with mild spice. Mild spice meant no spice (and not overly flavorful) however we do were able to get the spice cart to spice ourselves. All in all, I wouldn't rush back, but would happily eat here again. read more

Fantastic dinner at Thai Bistro! This was my first time and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the food was fantastic. I started with the veggie crispy rolls which were crisp, hot, and not too greasy. The order came with 4 rolls and I took two home. For my meal I opted for the Massaman Curry with Pork, medium heat. The flavor of the curry was delicious and comforting. The medium Spice was just right and my my nose run a little but not excessive. Thai Bistro makes authentic Thai dishes. If that's what you're looking for, then this is your place. It is one of my favorite Thai restaurants, and I have eaten at scores of them. Any time I am in Venice, I eat here at least once during my stay. I always get chicken basil Thai style anywhere I eat. A lot of places that are not truly Thai restaurants butcher this dish, but Thai Bistro knocks it out of the park. The staff is friendly, and the place is usually pretty busy, so during the busy season, I recommend reservations. Definitely check this place out! read more

Very good Thai place We stopped in last night with friends and found a mostly full restaurant and a friendly staff. It was a bit noisy, but we had no problem holding a conversation. The menu was large, and it took us a little time to decide what to order, so we started with a couple of appetizers. They had a yellow shrimp special that was outstanding, and some good spring rolls. I ordered a couple of entrees, a Pineapple Fried Rice with pork, and a Sautéed Garlic & Black Pepper with beef. I very much liked the rice, the other dish was more average. In hindsight I should have ordered one of their great sounding duck dishes, but I was trying to not spend too much, or followed the recommendations of other reviews and order their Pad Thai. Still doing 5 stars, there was nothing wrong with my food at all and the others at the table were all pleased with their food, especially the Satay Dinner. We had a great time, did not feel rushed, and were all glad we selected Thai Bistro for dinner. read more

My late wife and I would frequent this restaurant with our 2 daughters for years when we lived in Venice. We started going right when they opened. It was a really small place. We ate there about 2-3 times a week. It's sooo good. The food has lots of flavor and did I say it's really good? Unfortunately we moved too far from this place. Recently, we made the drive to reminisce beautiful memories made in this restaurant with my late wife and the girls. My girls were little back then, now they are in University. The food was still AMAZING! Their chicken fried rice is still the best I've had. The pad Thai was amazing. Drunken noodles was amazing. The chicken soup was amazing. And so was the crab Rangoon. Prices have definitely increased. But it's worth it. I would not order the starters next time (3 small soup & crab Rangoon). My bill with tip for 3 was just short of $80. The place looks so much better, the restrooms are very nice and it's a bigger space now. Great memories there. The owner remembered me. I'll definitely come back when I'm closer. Thank you so much for not only offering vegan options, but having TONS of vegan options that are labeled vegan & cooked separately. I should also note that I live in Chicago (a great food city with anything you could ever want) and I'm not only rating this highly because they cater to a difficult vegan lifestyle.
