Don't waste your money. Curries taste like plain coconut milk with whatever spice they use- actually flavorless. The wonton soup- doughy wontons with a funny tasting pork? I think? To top it all off, I found a hair at the bottom of my sticky mango rice. Gross. Never again. read more

We got takeout. 25 minutes on a Friday at like 8:30 p.m. I got chef special mixed veggies and the sauce was ok but the chicken wasnt tender nor were the veggies but maybe because I like them softer and maybe they were just steamed? The crab puffs were so/so. Husband got curry and it was fairly good he said but didnt feel well and had diarrhea 3x+ the next day. He usually doesn't from curry and I was fine. I didnt try his as I dont like curry; but I'm usually the one with that problem since having my gall bladder removed! $29.85 for just the 3 things so I'd say pass! read more

Dudes, this place is legit. The Massaman Curry is delish, loaded with all sorts of veggies and not even remotely comparable to tomato soup (which I hate with a mad passion). Lets talk about price. Totally good prices. Totally awesome drunken noodles, good shrimp that don't smell like shrimp, bomb satay and really yummy peanut sauce. I like this place a lot. I LOVE the Lemongrass Chicken, and of course all noodle dishes are good. I love the salad rolls with shrimp. Their prices are super fair, and the service is nice. Seriously lousy service! I'm not really sure how you F an avocado up but my daughter got avocado curry and the avocados were the most horrible things I've ever tasted. OMG! The waitress was too busy taking to go orders to wait on people who were trying to dinne in. She never checked on us.. we had ONE flimsy little napkin that was NOT enough to wipe your nose let alone have a meal with. The pad thai was ok... really sweet tho, not my taste for pad thai. Honestly it was NOT a pleasant experience and overall the food was below mediocre. The Thai Chef is Very Good Food and with the New Owners, you would be missing out if you do not try the Thai Chef. The service is beyond incredible I highly recommend and will be visiting often. It's taken me sooo long to finally try this place. You really never want to be disappointed when you have a hankering for something in particular. When I did break down and give them a shot I couldn't have been more pleased. It's a tiny little place so taking your food to go is the easiest option, but everything we've had so far (we've been back 3 times since the initial visit) has been great! The women are sweet and hustle around taking care of everyone. So happy to not have to drive nearly to Lake Oswego to get some good Thai food! read more

Excellent food from a small business that I highly trust. The woman who works here provides great service from her intimate setting of a restaurant. Only about four tables in this place but the decor appears to have been carefully considered by her personal taste of what I can only believe is heritage. Best thai in Oregon City. Best takeout around for something refreshing and healthy. I love the curries...in particular the red curry is great but they have the panang curry down...so delicious!!! The salad rolls I ordered this time around were a little dissapointing with wilted amounts of iceburg lettuce and not a tight wrap job. For Oregon City, this is a darn good Thai food restaurant. I live on the Se side of Portland and have a ton of options for Thai and have eaten at probably 20, and this place is in the top 5 for sure. This place is an absolute treasure. Living in the suburbs, it often feels like food falls into three categories: fast food, diners, and sad imitations of other cuisines. We'd been trying the few local Thai places and everything was bland and flavorless. Then we finally got around to trying Thai Chef. We've gotten take out a few times now and it is without a doubt the best Thai food in the suburbs. Absolutely no competition. I would also say it's better than some very popular Thai food trucks in Portland. Pad see ew is my favorite and theirs is delicious. The medium spicy level is enough for some lingering burn but not so much that you can't taste the flavorful sauce. Plus the noodles have a perfect firm but chewy texture--not falling apart in mushy little pieces like some places. This is also one of the few places I've been where the crab puffs have an actual creamy filling instead of a dry, lumpy paste. Not authentic Thai food(or even Chinese like crab puffs/rangoon is usually associated with) but I can't turn down any form of fried cheese and these are good ones. Salad rolls were very large and fresh. Oregon City is lucky to have this place. read more

Disappointing overall. We haven't eaten there for at least a decade, because we didn't like it much the first time. We ordered food to go and we had to wait quite a long time for it. I have eaten here several times, love the green curry and stir fry dishes. they will make as spicy or mild as you would like. For take out call ahead. I am not sure if the other reviews are related to this family, or if this place has changed hands, since October 26th, however even Robert Irvine would run screaming from this place! The first clue When we entered on a Friday evening we were the only people in the place and they had some sort of very loud movie playing on the lap top. We ordered the appetizer Tempura vegetables and got pre frozen onion rings (4), packaged crinkle cut French fries (6) and 5 shrimp. I was so stunned I was looking for Candid Camera to jump out! The curry had previously frozen veggies and the Pad Thai was the same boxed mix we make at home with very dry chicken. this was a 30.00 dinner!
