There's an old saying that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I'd like to update that for the modern era by saying don't judge a Thai restaurant by the number of Minions on the shelves. Thai Smile isn't trying to impress anyone with its interior. It's a casual little spot where you order at the counter, grab a seat, and let the food do the talking. The decor is an eclectic mix of Minion collectibles and what I can only describe as "yard sale chic." Somehow, instead of feeling cluttered, it just feels comfortable. Judging by the steady stream of takeout orders while I was there, the locals have already figured out what matters. And what matters is the food. I stopped in for a casual business lunch and ordered the Kua Kai. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender, everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the presentation was honestly much more elegant than I expected from such an unassuming little restaurant. It looked like someone genuinely cared about what landed on the plate, and it tasted that way too The person I was having lunch with actually lives in the area but had never been there before. By the end of the meal, she was already talking about coming back. Is this your anniversary dinner destination? Probably not. But if you've been together long enough that neither of you feels the need to impress the other with fancy light fixtures and reclaimed barn wood, you're going to have a fantastic meal. For me, this is an easy recommendation. We ordered delivery so I cannot speak to the cleanliness of the restaurant or friendliness of the staff. The food was ready and delivered on time. We ordered the 5 Pieces Coconut Prawns, 2 pieces All Veggie Roll, Tom Kah soup, Pad See Ew w/Chicken Breast and BBQ Pork Fried Rice. Both of the appetizers were great. The shrimp were crispy and the coconut was there but not overpowering. The veggie rolls were crisp, fresh and flavorful. The peanut sauce was just right. The Tom Kah soup was light and flavorful. I would have liked more veggies but it was really tasty. The Pad Se Ew with chicken was great. It didn't have as much noodles as I'm used to but was full of very tender chicken and vegetables. The BBQ fried rice was amazing! The pork was flavorful and tender and the rice was beautifully done. The portions for the mains were pretty big and we have leftovers. We tried a couple new dishes - Kra Praw Kai Dao with grilled Ribeye and Pra Ram with Shrimp. Both were prepared 'Mild' because I'm a Spice Baby (according to my family). We finished every morsel!! Going to try some tiger dishes here but, for a take on Popcorn chicken, the chicken pop is very good. High quality chicken and a good light breading. The spicy mayo is good but I would recommend getting a second sauce or more of the mayo, but I like to DUNK my chicken. Excited to try the noodle dishes here soon! Maybe a curry as well, I did hear the yellow curry was really good from a friend. He said watch the spice but I think he just ate it all on top haha read more

As of 12/04/2024, it's still Take Out Only after Covid. They also posted 2024-2025 Holiday Hours (look at my photo). *Remember to Check-Inn on Yelp to Get Free Thai Iced Tea or Thai Coffee! They let me substituted with Thai Coffee the last few times since I don't care much for Thai Iced Tea. My son and I are a diehard fans of their Rice Soup! It is the best in the style they make it! We only come here for it. Be sure to call before you drive over since they do close between 3-4pm, yet you still can place order ahead and pick up between this window. I had to do that on 12/04 since I couldn't get there until 3:30pm and they were cool with it. As always, be courteous, call ahead to confirm hours since Yelp listed hours are incorrect. The laundry mat next to it a a bit worrisome at night so park accordingly, in and out with your take out and you should be fine. I went to Thai Smile for the first time yesterday! I was very impressed by not only the kind staff, cool air, peaceful music, but also by the incredible food. This is the best Thai food that I have had to date. I ordered the pad Thai and chicken satay and I was not let down. The meat is fresh and full of flavor, while the peanut sauces, veggies, noodles and rice were full of flavor. This is now my go-to Thai spot. The seating is on the smaller end (I saw most of their traffic was to-go orders), however I use a mobility device (walker) to get around and was successful in being seated inside! Walking into this spot is like walking back into 2020. They're still taking to-go orders only, maintaining all the COVID protocols, and the dining area seems more for storage. Behind the plastic partition, the gentleman asks, "Would you like to leave a tip?" since touching the screen is not an option. This is my 3rd time ordering from here, and it's been reliably good and now our go to for Thai. We've tried the Pad Woon Sen, Pad Thai and I finally tried the northern Thai dish, Khao Soi. When my husband and I order Thai elsewhere, we usually go for a 1-2 spicy and like to add chili sauce. We have done "mild" here, and we think the spice level is great! The Pad Thai is really good, honestly our favorite in the area (buathong, Chang Thai, arawan) Sauce has a great balance of flavor and has been great all 3 times! You can't really go wrong with glass noodles, their Pad Woon Sen is my go to dish! My little guy loves this one too and would eat all the noodles if I let him. I have had Khao Soi one other time, in Bend at "Wild Rose", and honestly I was nervous to try this thinking it wouldn't be comparable. I finally tried it and honestly, the sauce was very similar! Rich, savory and deep in flavor. The pickled toppings and lime brighten it up and add a great dimension of flavor! It comes like any other curry, the sauce in its own container and the noodles, fried noodles and toppings in a separate container. Came here for dinner and thought it was really tasty. Upon arriving, we were bummed to learn that they are take-out only. But we were set on Thai so we got it to go. I got the pad thai with fresh tofu (excellent), wife got the drunken noodle with fresh tofu (really liked it), kids got same as me and a ramen type soup that was very good. This gem could be easily overlooked as it is located in a nondescript strip mall. The interior is utilitarian. Since Covid, the number of available tables for dining in has been reduced, so a good portion of the interior is devoted to storage shelving for supplies. But none of that should stop you from from ordering in or for takeout. Food is always prepared fresh which makes everything taste so much better. The set menu is extensive so there are options for everyone. I eat there frequently and have always been extremely happy with every item I ordered. Typically I order Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) but they also have Pad Woon Sen made with vermicilli mung bean noodles which is one of my faves and not many Thai restaurants serve this. The veggies are all fresh and the chicken is always tender, not over cooked. Thai Smile is only takeout service these days which works for me!
