Hmmmm... wish I was more impressed considering this is probably the only thai place in the area (without driving to Syracuse, Cornwall, Ottawa etc). Beef satay app was ok - needs a flavor injection as well as something to balance out the sour taste. The larb salad with tofu was actually very flavorful and tasty. The lemongrass chicken was okay but was missing something...not sure what. I expected a fish base with a strong lemongrass flavor but it came out in a more bland, brown-ish sauce. It had a decent amount of veggies and strands of lemongrass but it just didnt come together right. If I go again, Id want to try the steamed dumplings and maybe a green curry. read more

I love this restaurant. I realize a Thai place in a major city would probably be better, but I have few complaints, and eat here often. I recommend the spring rolls (crispy or fresh), the Peanut Noodle, and the Drunken Noodle (my favorite). I appreciate that they have a tofu option, and it's so good that my meat-eating bf also gets the tofu. The service is generally speedy, but can be slow on a busy day. First off I have to say this food is usually pretty tasty. My problem is i have ordered here 6 times and had to send back my food each time. The whole menu advertises vegan options. However twice my food cane with eggs and the other times fish sauce (which I am highly allergic to) or with oyster sauce. I specifically say vegan, no fish no eggs. Every time it's messed up. They need to remove "vegan option" from their menu because they clearly don't know what that means and caused me a severe reaction and an ER strip. read more

I've got to wonder if the people who gave this place good reviews have ever eaten Thai food anywhere else. Our first clue of how bad it was going to be that there wasn't an Asian in sight. The building was fairly clean, but needs some work. The wait staff were friendly. The food wasn't even close to Thai except in name. I don't think they even know what fish sauce is. We started with fresh shrimp spring rolls. The 2 rolls had been cut into 8 pieces and drowned in tasteless sugar syrup and covered with chopped peanuts. The tiny shrimp were elusive and flavorless. The remainder of the filling was shredded lettuce and an occasional leaf of cilantro. No noodles, mint or carrot. No dipping sauce. My wife had a dish that was just called 'cashew nut'. The description was similar to dishes she has ordered at other Thai restaurants. The reality was that it was a poor version of Chinese cashew chicken with none of the signature Thai flavors. The brown sauce tasted like greasy powdered gravy from the grocery store. No ginger or garlic added for flavor. My dish, drunken noodles, was the worst. Soggy noodles would be a better description. When the waitress brought it out, I told her "that's not drunken noodles". First, drunken noodles are done with a 3/8 - 1/2" wide noodle. These noodles were smaller in diameter than the soggy bean sprouts. They had also been soaked way too long before putting them in the sauce, so by the time I got them, they were a pile of mush. Also the noodles were never fried as they should have been. The sauce had no flavor of garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce or fish sauce that most recipes use. The "assorted mixed vegetables" were 4 small pieces of broccoli, 4 slices of carrots, a few pieces of green onion and the soggy bean sprouts I mentioned above. I ordered "Thai spicy", their hottest, It was about a medium heat as Thai food goes. They used ground chile instead of fresh Thai chile. Not the right flavor or heat. The portion size was plenty for me, but for the price, most people would expect more. If they had used twice the noodles, the texture might have been better. Rice noodles are dirt cheap. They shouldn't skimp on them. We will not be going back. If you go, don't expect Thai food. I don't know what it is. If you are one of the Potsdam locals that like the food, don't expect other Thai restaurant's food to taste like this. The signature Thai flavors of fish sauce, tamarind, kaffir lime, lemon grass, chile, garlic and ginger are missing. read more

If I were reviewing this in the "big city", I'd probably give it 2-3 stars. But this is "North Country Thai"! The food is fairly fresh and tasty, and the ol' standby - Pad Thai - has been good the two times I've ordered it. It seems that their curries are exceptional, yet very spicy. I highly recommend this as take-out over eat-in, as the service is very, very slow. Much of this is due to the fact that (since it opened in summer 2010), it's packed full and busy every night of the week. Perhaps by the time 2011 rolls around, it will be more manageable and will be worth eating in. For the area, this is decent Thai food. I've had much better elsewhere, but after all this is the North Country. Friendly wait staff and the owner always remembers me and makes sure to talk to me before I go. I would recommend the orange chicken or one of the noodle dishes. So I started off wanting to give this place 4 stars. Super cheap prices ($7 for a lunch special on a Saturday), and decent decor. And it's the only Thai place anywhere near Potsdam. The soup with the lunch special was awful. I felt like it was a bunch of veggies thrown in a bowl of water. The lunch itself was fairly greasy, the chicken seemed defrosted, and the Pad See Ew came with carrots and American broccoli, so the authentic-ness is gone. And the flavor was eh. So I was still going to give it 3 stars. And then I bit down on some sort of wrapper in my food. Not sure what it was, but it was paper. And paper doesn't taste great with noodles. We eat here fairly often. I have had Thai food in Thailand, and while this doesn't compare to that, it is really good for Potsdam NY. I have not had a bad veggie pad thai or chicken pad thai, and the pad sew ew is really good as well. If you go in for lunch they have soups with the meals. The waitresses are all courteous and friendly. We do occasionally have one older waitress who the few times we have had her, has managed to make a mistake on the order. The place is always apologetic and hurries to fix it though. read more

Lovely little Thai restaurant in Potsdam! Have been here once before while visiting family, and it was great the first time as well. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that deter you. We had crab rangoons for an appetizer, which were some of the best that I've ever had. I had the pad thai, which was delicious they give you a hefty serving and I ended up taking some home. There were two young girls as our servers, they seem to both share tables. I know some people who had some trouble with take out, so it may be best to dine in. Definitely give it a try! read more

I absolutely love this place but the service I received last night was enough to make me never return. I ordered tea and the waitress asked if I wanted Thai tea. I said yes. She came back with the tea but I didn't realize what Thai tea was so I asked for warm tea. I wasn't rude as it wasn't her fault for my not knowing what Thai tea was. I simply asked for warm tea instead. She then proceeded to go into the back and complain about me to her coworkers who were consoling her as if I assaulted her. When she came back out I told her that I could hear what she was saying to which I got a shoulder shrug. My husband canceled our order as I will not be made to feel like a moron over tea. You'll know the waitress when you go in: 90's choker, eyeshadow like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show...pretty much what'd you expect from the year 1995. Otherwise, the place is very good. This is not Thai food. The best you could say is it does not use old vegetables. Even the coconut milk tasted watered down. We had chicken satay, basil leaf with squid and panang curry with beef. The peanut sauce was almost tasteless and the chicken seemed soggy. I don't know how that was accomplished. In both main dishes, the portions were small, the sauces were bland and the scant meat was tough. Even in Potsdam, calling this a Thai restaurant is an insult to even mediocre Thai food. read more

Quality is OK, I prefer the noodles over the curry (in the order of most - least preferred: Pad see ew, Pad Thai, drunken noodles (pad kee mow)). The "dinner" size is very small for the noodles (and I'm 5'1" weighing 100lbs, so I would think that my food intake requirement is on the modest side). But it's not like you have a choice - at least the food is acceptable (ie. fresh, not diarrhea-inducing, etc.), so if you're in town and crave Asian, this is probably the place to go to. read more

We arrived at the very end of their 3 - 4pm break to see a full staff of busy workers. A + presentation. Dumplings were piled precisely with a light soy drizzle. Top tier fresh spring rolls with an array of meat options. Our "meat-head" friend Jake and our vegan friend Mic were both satisfied, respectably. There was a great atmosphere, as Ed said "it's a community gathering." We had a happy surprise when our friends came in to get take out.
