The chicken katsu curry helped start my two-years-and-counting relationship! We ordered plates on the way home from a hike and never looked back. Friendly staff, reasonable prices for the times, and so much flavor! Highly recommend the spam saimin for when you're feeling under the weather--brothy, salty, and full of that feel-good flavor to help you kick a cold. I just have four words to say..."SO FRIGGIN' FLAVOR-FULL!" I ordered the Mixed BBQ plate & it was phenomenal! It came with steak, a rib, & TWO chicken pieces along with two scoops of rice & macaroni salad. It was honestly enough food for two people for just $15. I'm glad I picked this joint for my dinner during an unexpected overnight stay. I found myself staying at an inn between Canton and Potsdam, and it was probably 7 or 8 o'clock? I was hungry. So, what was good for takeout in the area? Lee's had an impressive rating and was on the near side of Potsdam, so I ordered off Lee's website (via Yelp's browser). The menu was easily navigated and had a variety of dishes. A ton of Yelpers mentioned barbecue, and others mentioned curry. I ordered the Katsu Curry Bowl and two pieces of barbecue chicken "hawaiian sushi" (I remember this description but not the name). I'm really happy I went with the Katsu Curry Bowl, and I was surprised (by the price) that two pieces of sushi filled an entire square container. I love katsu, and Lee's delivered a delicious cutlet, with a curry gravy, served over "rice only" (my selection). The portion of white rice side was very generous, and while I had some gravy leftover from the cutlet, I still didn't manage to finish the rice. The barbecue chicken *was* delicious. I found the sushi a bit structurally unsound, though. Lots of rice, with the barbecue chicken on top, all wrapped in nori paper...so yummy. But I let the nori paper grow moist while I eating the katsu curry bowl, and when I bit into this roll, the seaweed split over the barbecue chicken. So it was delicious but pretty messy. Maybe rice around the chicken, not just under it, would have held up better, though I also just really miss Japanese onigiri. Overall, great meal! Fair price. Very tasty, and if I got stuck overnight again, I'd order from Lee's Hawaiian Grill again :) read more

This is a gem in the Potsdam area. The food was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. I had the BBQ steak meal, and all parts were delicious. Fast, friendly service and delicious food!! I decided to order the BBQ combo plate in order to sample 3 different items (BBQ Steak, BBQ Chicken, and Short Ribs). All three were excellent in their own right and you wouldn't be disappointed ordering any of them! That being said, the Ribs were my favorite of the three followed by the Beef and the Chicken. Just have to say that every time we eat here it is outstanding, and I consider myself very picky. The grilled meats are so flavorful and original. The Mac salad is simple but a real highlight. I can't replicate it no matter how hard I try. The garlic shrimp is probably the best dish I've ever had in Potsdam. One of the best shrimp dishes ever...and it's the same every single time. The spam saimin noodle soup is also not fancy but it's a total home run! Absolutely give this a try if you haven't yet and enjoy! read more

Every time I go visit my friends at SUNY Potsdam, I need to get food from here! I have been here many times over the past 3 years and love my food every time. I usually get the BBQ mix with double chicken no short ribs. It comes with rice, shredded cabbage and Mac salad. The meat is perfectly grilled and has a delicious savory taste. The people that work there are super nice and covid safe! The price is super good with the portion sizes also! I almost always have leftovers which heats up very nicely! The sad thing is that it is a 2 hour 30 minute drive from where I live and I am not able to get it more often!! If you are ever in the Potsdam area you need to try this place out! read more

We were traveling through on a Sunday and most restaurants were closed. We ended up ordering from Lee's and it was AMAZING. The healthy salmon was to die for. This time I tried the mahimahi special along with the shrimp- definitely pre-breaded frozen and fried on the spot. Terrible along with the sauces. Delicious, cheap, and very comforting on a 5 degree North Country night! I had the bbq chicken saimin soup and the katsu curry bowl. I ordered via phone and it was ready for pick up in 10 minutes. The soup had a meaty, flavorful broth and tender bbq chicken along with the rice noodles. The katsu bowl was crispy breaded chicken on top of sticky rice with a flavorful sauce on top - is this the katsu sauce? I have no idea but it was great. Solid food and really friendly service. We came here on a frigid day in February after driving through a storm and wanted an interesting hot meal. We shared a katsu curry, katsu special, and some noodle soup with spam (my not-so-guilty pleasure). The soup broth was a little bland, but everything else tasted great and it was quite affordable as well! We'll have to try the BBQ options next time we're in town. read more

Some of the choices seem a little out there, lots of Spam inclusive meals, but once you're hooked, you're hooked. Their bbq chicken is amazing and their spam musubi is great too. Delicious, quick and affordable and something different around here for once. I ordered the BBQ Mix (#2). The meat was flavorful, the Mac salad on the side was awesome and with rice and cabbage too, I was quite full, and I'm a hearty eater. Definitely give it a try.
