We got the mango fried rice (my friend's favourite), an emerald curry, and a seafood pad thai. I thoroughly enjoyed the fried rice; although I found it a tad greasy, the mango bits were an interesting addition that really accentuated the dish. The seafood pad thai was also delicious and came with a generous portion of massive prawns and lots of squid! Again, a little oily and the noodles were a tad limp. The emerald curry was okay - I found the bamboo flavour to be a bit overpowering and overwhelming, and there was the unmistakable strong flavour of coconut milk (a little too much). Absolutely loved it. When looking at the menu, most dishes contain meat but they can make almost every dish vegetarian or vegan including substituting sauces that do not contain fish sauce/stock. We also tried a chicken stir fry and a salmon with sushi dish this time; both were decent, but they didn't stand out like the curries and Pad Thai usually do. While the flavors were there, they didn't leave a memorable impact, and we probably won't order them again. Also on a separate occasion that I went, they had a Londonlicious menu where I got the khao soi (which is one of my favourite Thai dishes). While it was good, I do think their pad Thais are curries are much better. Overall, Thaifoon remains a solid choice, especially for their standout curries and Pad Thai.

The beef tendon was also really soft, in a really nice way. The shrimp with egg rice noodle is always a classic, egg gently used as a sauce and the noodle with an appropriate bite to it. The place closes down (i.e. the patrons have to leave by 9p) at 9p, which makes for a bit of a rushed dinner, so beware.

They looked pretty on par with the vermicelli at the other Ben Thanh locations. We both had shrimp on a sugarcane and honestly it just tasted strange. This is something I order at least 3 times a month and have done for many years, so I know how it's supposed to taste. First of all, it was about 80% sugarcane and 20% shrimp, but it was very dry and hard. The flavour was very earthy and not at all shrimp-like. The meatballs were fine and the spring rolls tasted good although they were very oily. The grilled pork was also tasty but very dry and overcooked. We were both extremely surprised that there were no bean sprouts, no mint and no chopped peanuts. The decor was in need of an upgrade. The stairs down to the washroom and the whole downstairs was very dirty. The floor in the ladies' room was sticky. The vermicelli dishes were more than $10 each, which is very expensive compared to the many other Vietnamese restaurants we frequent regularly. And the food honestly wasn't nearly as good.
