I was so excited to find Thai food during my visit to Alabama! The food here tasted very close to the Thai food in California. The service was fantastic. The waiter was so excited about our authentic pronunciation of the food items. He made sure we had everything we needed and it was very comfortable. The ambiance was very clean, calm, and sophisticated. We ordered: Tom Yum Soup w/Chicken - 7/10 - the broth was flavorful and tasted authentic but it was missing a lot of the ingredients I typically see in Tom yum soup such as bamboo shoots, tomatoes, onions, baby corn, etc. Pad Khee Mao with Rice Noodles - 7/10 - this normally comes with egg noodles but I usually have it with rice noodles due to having a gluten sensitivity. They accommodated that and I asked for extra spicy. It was very spicy indeed which was a surprise! Overall it was good but the texture of the noodles did not seem fresh to me. Pad See Ew - 8/10 - this dish was pretty good! It was a little on the sweet side but that's not bad at all. It was our favorite here. I love spice so the vinegared jalapeños were excellent! If they're not on the table, you just have to ask them and they'll bring some out. read more

The menu has an excellent offering of Thai dishes to suit about any and everyone's particular taste. The lunch menu kind of reads like a "best of" list for Thai food. Got the green curry with chicken since they wouldn't let me get the lunch size with tofu, which is strange because it was on the menu. Green curry was mostly bamboo shoots, very very little protein, and overly salty. It's possible I didn't order the right thing here and came in with too high of expectations. It is an hour away, but so worth it!!!! The food is fresh and delicious and the staff have fun while at work. It is so good to see people enjoy what they do. This is my new favorite Thai restaurant. Finally somewhere in Huntsville who doesn't make the Ton Yum soup sweet! It's perfect. The parking is a little bit of a hassle. But once you get that figured out everything is great. Staff was very very friendly. The prices were reasonable and the food was amazing. I got the pad prig poa with chicken and that was amazing too. My son and I love Thai cuisine, so when a special occasion rolls around, we are looking for the best Thai restaurant we can find. While we are always on the hunt, our favorite pick in Huntsville is Thai Garden Restaurant located in the Fiver Corners area. Recently I took my son there for his birthday. The place is closed mid afternoon, so be sure to check hours of operation before heading over. We arrived at start of dinner hour to a clean, tidy, restaurant decorated in the understated elegance of Thai minimalism. Our hostess seated us immediately in a comfortable booth and provided water immediately - and kept the glasses topped off throughout the meal. We order a round of Thai beers to go with Springroll appetizers and wonton soup heated by sterno at the table. We then enjoyed crispy egg rolls before our mail entrees arrived: Beef with mint leaves & chili and an order of chicken/veggie green curry. Flavors on all the exotically spiced dishes were incredibly delicious. Thai Garden is still the best in Rocket City! read more

Thai Garden is a cozy little restaurant that's been around forever - I only say this because I remember having it as a super picky child and not liking it some 15 years ago! They moved to 5 Points in 1993. 27 years in one location is pretty darn good for a restaurant. Now that I'm no longer a picky child and am instead a huge fan of Thai food, it was only a matter of time before I decided to try Thai Garden again. We had them for carryout for lunch on Friday, and we enjoyed their food. Carryout was easy and seamless -- food ready 15 minutes after I called, staff super friendly and polite. Parking is a little difficult here due to the crowded nature of 5 Points, so plan ahead or hope you get lucky. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, if a little dim, and people were spaced very far apart at the tables. We had the Pad See Ew with chicken (my fave), a Thai iced tea, and the hot and sour wings. Food wise, the hot and sour wings were the best thing. It's an appetizer, not a meal, so not a huge serving, but the wings were very meaty and the sauce struck a good balance between spicy and sweet/sour. The Pad See Ew was alright. Not my favorite version of the dish in town -- the brown sauce isn't as flavorful as some other places. Or maybe there just wasn't enough of it for me, I'm not sure. One fun thing is that Thai Garden makes theirs with Chinese broccoli / kale, so the vegetables are a good bit less bulky and slightly slimier than broccoli Americans are used to. I enjoyed the change of pace in that regard but was really missing some of the flavors you get at other places. The Thai iced tea was delicious and might be my favorite restaurant Thai tea in the area. Overall, while I'd probably try a curry or something different the next time I go, and while this isn't my absolute favorite Thai joint in Huntsville, for consistency and convenience Thai Garden is a good option. read more

I picked up dinner on my way into town one Friday night and well, I was excited. The dinner was crazy expensive. I don't have issue with that, one of my favorite places in Austin closed for over a year for a remodel and they changed their menu and along with it, their prices. BUT, their food was always amazing. We are new to Huntsville and are trying new (to us) places on our weekly date nights. Tonight we tried Thai Garden and loved it! The 5 Points area is cool and the restaurant was very nice inside-- comfortable and almost cozy-- and it was jumping for a Thursday night! Quick, friendly service. My wife had the Pra Ram Long song (#41 on the menu-- I'm sorry but my memory of the exact name probably isn't accurate) and the peanut sauce was awesome! Way better than what we've had at other places! I don't remember what my dish was called but it had baby corn, bamboo shoots and fresh basil-- and a great level of spiciness-- and it too was excellent.
