    Pork egg roll

More fantastic Vietnamese food in Huntsville - we're truly very lucky! Viet Taste is owned by the same folks who own Viet Cuisine off Jordan. VC has long been my personal favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town, so I was thrilled to hear they're expanding into a more southern part of Huntsville. We came here to try after striking out at another restaurant and truthfully, I'm so glad we did - this was much better! Super close to a 5 and I'm confident it'll get there once a few tiny kinks get worked out. The restaurant occupies a space that has had a LOT of restaurants in it over the years (in recent memory, it was a crab place that never opened, Shababy's Ribs, and then Just Love Coffee). I really hope this spot can succeed where others did not last. It's clear they're still updating the decor to better suit a Vietnamese restaurant, but it's clean and comfortable inside, with a casual vibe. We were seated quickly on a Friday night. There was a moderate amount of people dining in and a goodly amount of carryout; yummy scents emanated from the kitchen. The menu seems a little smaller than what's available at VC though I'm not sure...either way, there's plenty of choices to suit any palate. The staff were very polite and extremely attentive, almost to the point of overwhelm. We were checked on *a lot*. I don't view this as a huge annoyance but others might. They were clearly working hard and eager to impress and attend to our needs. My husband and I each got a fried pork egg roll to start and then each a chicken clay pot for our entrees. VC and VT make the best clay pots in town, I think. I also got a Thai tea because I can't resist them, no matter where I'm eating. The one semi-disappointment of the night and the main reason for a 4 instead of a 5 was the Thai tea. Maybe I played myself getting a Thai tea at a Vietnamese restaurant, but I've had it at VC before and it was better than this. This one wasn't bad, but it was a little watered down in terms of flavor and consistency, and worse than that, the boba was undercooked and just a clear tapioca color rather than black pearl or brown sugar. It wasn't very good boba, but it was serviceable enough - just not up to the standards of the rest of the food. Everything else was absolutely delicious, and I really have no critiques or complaints. The egg rolls were piping hot, crispy, and went perfectly with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. Our clay pots arrived sizzling and loaded with lots of delicious veggies and perfectly cooked chicken and rice. It crisped up nicely and stayed super hot all meal long. It's just as good as the other location, which is to say - exceptional! We will absolutely be returning to Viet Taste and are so excited to have them around. Thanks for a great meal!

My Vietnamese friend told me to check out a new restaurant that she says is good. Considering she cooks all Vietnamese foods better than the restaurants, I decided to stop by Viet Taste to check out this locally owned mom and pop restaurant. Walking in at 1:30, there were quite a few people inside. This restaurant location has housed several restaurants that opened and closed in less than a year. I am hopeful this one will stay open. There are several foodies on this side of town that will frequent if the foods are good. We dined in. I ordered Pho Ga which is basically chicken noodle soup Vietnamese style. My pho arrived fairly quickly. This is because everything is already prepared and the kitchen puts together the soup and assembles fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, jalapeno slices and lime wedge. Some people do not like adding the fresh vegetables and herbs. I add all of them to create the unique flavor. My soup broth was delicious and not super salty. By not being super salty, I can add hoisin and fish sauce should I choose to. My only complaint is there didn't seem to be much chicken as I would like. But that wasn't enough of a reason to drop my score. My food was good and I would order this meal again. 5/5 I always order chicken salad to go. I do not eat it in the restaurant. Each Vietnamese restaurant has a different type of salad they make. The chicken was flavored well, not salty, and tender. Chicken was served atop fresh lettuce, cucumber, shredded cabbage, and spring onions. This salad is delicious! 5/5 Dave ordered pork banh mi. The pork was flavorful, tender and not salty. Inside the soft bread was pork, sliced pickled carrots and radishes, cilantro, and slices of jalapeño's. 5/5 I hope this restaurant prospers. We do not have many mom and pop locally owned restaurants. I would rather spend my money supporting local businesses versus big chain restaurants. If you like Asian foods, please stop by Viet Taste. Your tummy will be happy.

Clean, comfortable dining area and fantastic service. We tried the shrimp spring rolls, chicken wings, and char pork vermicelli. Each was perfectly seasoned and delicious! We'll definitely be back soon.

Absolutely amazing to have this new Vietnamese restaurant in south Huntsville. The same owners of Viet Cuisine on Jordan which imo is the best in town. They have brought to this new location the same fantastic food and impeccable service. We are fortunate to have them here. I can't recommend this place enough!

I've been here a few times now and the food is always fresh, and the service is great. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant.

And I highly recommend them always), a chardonnary, lemongrass chicken, and chicken fried rice to go for the Hubs. First off, they now serve Sutter home wine in airplane plastic bottles. YUCK. Even their wine previously, which was poured from a bottle, was nargial but it was better than this, which was awful! Again the rolls were delish, as always! Thanks for that! The peanut dipping sauce was delicious also! So there's that. On to the main, the lemongrass chicken. It should have been called sauteed bell pepper and onions with white rice. The chicken was finely chopped for the most part and I left hungry. All this was 40.00 with a tip and again it was not the standard Viet Huong used to have with hearty meals that constantly made a nice leftover lunch for me. They have gotten stingy on their protein at least in the lemongrass. I noticed it last time I came here and chocked it up to being an off night. Well it's apparantly the new norn. This is one of mybdwarrst friend/Sorority Sister's favorite places to eat as she typically gets their Pho. I'll go back if I get to enjoy her company, I just don't plan to visit solo again. It's too expensive to get awful "wine" and skimpy proteins. The last next to me was another soko diner and complained about her (I think) vegan or vegetarian meal she called in advance about and then showed up and it wasn't available per her request. There was no manager working the floor and I didn't complain, and likely that's why I didn't see a manager. I do hope your experience at this long-standing locallwd owned and opened by a high school classmate is much better than my last two visits were.

The radishes and carrots were seasoned. We didn't see jalapeños. Taste wise this sandwich was ok. How to improve? Season the meat more, add more meat and add jalapenos. 3/5 My Pho ga with glass noodles was ok. The broth didn't have the rich taste I expect. It tasted weak. It definitely was not salty which is a plus but I couldn't taste the spices. My chicken was shredded and tough. I was disappointed the amount of meat and noodles were much less than other Vietnamese restaurants locally. 3/5 The chicken salad was ok. The dressing was sweeter than other restaurants. I would have preferred more meat. The chicken was shredded and on the tough side. 3/5 I may come back to try the foods here. Most of the coconut jellies and tapioca pearls fell to the bottom of the drink underneath the ice. We were seating fairly quickly and when we got there it was just one other table, the waitress took out drink order and was really confusing about the diet coke (I am assuming they were out of the syrup but we asked for diet coke and she said yes then said coke so we were like no diet, and she said no, so we asked if she had diet and she said Coke) so we opted for unsweet tea. We placed our orders and my mom and sister received their food and then the waitress disappeared. Finally another woman came to the table and said the food was being prepared, but after 25 mins (my mom and sister finished their meals basically) my fried rice was brought out. Then not even two seconds after the other waitress brought the food, our original waitress came and took my sister's plate while she was still eating the banana roll. We were promptly seated and had our orders taken. We got chicken satay, gyoza, beef salad, pad thai, red curry and two sides of rice. Overall this is a good restaurant and we visit semi-regularly. I wouldnt say it is perfect though. Downsides for me: limited lunch menu (with smallish portions), hours change pretty regularly (they have a break between dinner and lunch), they stopped serving alcohol and most egregious: they don't have Coke Zero. But seriously, unlike most places they often dont ask you what spice level you want on a dish. My request for 'Thai Hot' resulted in a moderately spiced dish that required extra doses of chili flakes, which is sad. Prices are on the higher end for a Thai restaurant with a lot of add on fees (brown rice is a $2.00 upcharge, etc). Those small complaints aside, the food is good and the service is mostly very good. The restaurant is usually quiet and not super crowded. If you're in the mood for Thai I would definitely check them out!
