Unless you're eating Thai food in Thailand, this place is worth the drive from anywhere else. The food is absolutely the best ever, as is the service. We started with Thai Iced Tea and a few appetizers (Chicken Satay, Fried Tofu and Edamame). Then for main courses, we had Thai Fried Rice (with Chicken and Cashews added), and a pork dish with Sticky Rice (sorry, can't recall the name) with a dipping sauce and a cucumber slaw. We just stopped in tonight to pick up a takeout order and found that the food was excellent - large portions, tasty curry sauce, and a spicy/sour papaya salad (which is one of my favorites). We also stopped in to the attached gift shop and I bought an art print and soap from a local artist and my boyfriend picked up a local, clean bug spray; I'm very excited to see local businesses supporting one another. Never had Thai food before and we were very pleased with the food we had at Thai Golden. We started with an appetizer sampler which was very good with 3 different delicious sauces for dipping. Loved the peanut sauce. The pad Thai was excellent and so was the pineapple fried rice. The portions were large so we had to take some home. Thai iced tea was very good. I'm shocked that I was prompted to write a review for Thai Golden. I've often forgotten to review the places I go to the most. This place is one of the 2 places I'd suggest for authentic Thai cuisine in the Hudson Valley. This is #1 for all but the Pad Thai. My second favorite does better Pad Thai. The moo yang was a special and is now a staple on the menu at Thai Golden. It's a seasoned grilled pork and comes with some of the best Som Tum Papaya salad that I've ever had, and sticky rice instead of jasmine rice. As a sticky rice fan I appreciate having sticky rice instead of Jasmine rice with my meal any day. The mango sticky rice is delish, they have the largest portion size of a Thai tea for the price I've ever seen. Mason jar portioned. The rice dishes are excellent, the curry has the right consistency and isn't runny and awful. The food is simply delightful. The place is no cozy so it can be quiet and nice, or louder and bustling depending on when you arrive and how Many like minded hungry Jacks roll in with you. The restaurant was warm and inviting with a general store section and a wall of family pictures that adds a nice personal touch. The pad Thai wings are amazing!! My favorite thing on the menu, and dare I say better than Korean fried chicken! You have to try it if you're here. We had duck green curry and Rama chicken for mains. Both were solid, and the Rama chicken was surprisingly still crispy in the peanut sauce. We met Sam the owner who told us more about the restaurant's history and picked up their dope t-shirts designed by Friend of a Friend before heading to the Chuang Yen Monastery nearby. Was here about a year ago when they were doing renovations and from the pictures it looks like they finished. We went when it was still BYOB which is really great and a money saver. More cash to spend on their tasty eats! If i remember correctly we had veg fried rice, shrimp curry, the fake duck and another pad thai with shrimp. Oh also the vegetable dumplings were BANGiN and had this great sauce to dip in. Everything was seriously so friggin tasty and I think I'm going to have to go back here tomorrow night b/c i'm almost drooling thinking about the food now. Cloyingly sweet wings are not my thing, I have had Thai wings and it was mildly balanced with sugar (elsewhere). My son had soup, which was also ok. My husband had red curry and he said it was bland but not bad. Prices were high for not that great food. A family owned place with wonderful Thai food (my absolute favorite is the Tom Kha Gai soup) and even better people. I came in today for some bubble tea after a walk on the rail trail and owner Sam was a delightfully friendly face (w/mask ) who was prompt, precise and so kind. This is the kind of business that keeps going above and beyond for their customers. They are doing everything right in this pandemic, keeping their employees and patrons safe above all, and supporting the causes they care about, but the food has never faltered. Thai Golden is off the beaten track for me but I happily discovered it on a rainy fall day when a 40 min journey seemed to justify the prospect of a hot bowl of Thai food and I was NOT disappointed. I returned again a couple weeks later just to verify that it was as fantastic as I thought and .... It was no fluke! This is possibly the best, most authentic Thai food I've ever eaten. I used to live in queens, so this says a lot. I can vouch for complex flavor profiles of the tom kha gai soup, drunken noodles, green curry, and khao soi dishes. Khao soi was recommended by the server and was a delicious yellow curry with noodles and pickled mustard greens. I love this place. So cute with all the Thai merchandise including some Thai snacks that I ventured to buy. I bout crab flavored chips! It was tasty! I love the young people that work there. Thai Golden is my absolute FAVORITE Thai place in the area!! My personal favorite dishes are the Tom Yum soup and the Thai Green Curry! I also love the bubble tea options and the Thai iced tea. I go in just to get that a lot! It is such as shame due to COVID that you can't eat inside yet, because the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We have not been to Thai Golden since it was first opened and we had not been too happy with the food or the restaurant itself. We decided to try it out today because we know it's under new management and their Yelp reviews have gotten better over time. I had the Drunken Noodles with tofu and veggies and my husband had the Lard Naa. Both of us enjoyed our meals. I could have done with more heat, but I forgot to ask for it spicy so that was on me. Let me preface this by saying I'm usually an avid fan of this restaurant so this is particularly heartbreaking for me. I like to try something new on the menu each time I go but I also have a set list of favorites I fall back on. I Ordered the Lard Zaa noodle dish, one I've had a few times. It usually gives a savory feel with a sumptuous gravy drowned noodles for a cold day like it was today. My daughter had the pad See Yew, her personal favorite. We ordered tea and it was great per usual, the Roti appetizer which was delicious. The server was very sweet it looked on par to be a great meal until the food arrived. My daughters food arrived and was excellent well seasoned, delicious. The beef Lard Zaa arrived and it was extremely disappointing to say the least. The gravy was more like a broth, thin clear and watery. The dish was flavored as it looked. Like water. There was not hints of the usual Garlic no type of seasonings what so ever. the beef was gray as it had been boiled and looked extremely unappetizing. A disastrous disappointment. Having had this dish before I waved the waiter over to inquire about having it redone or order something else because the dish was inedible as it was presented. She was great. Very apologetic took the dish away and left me with a menu. I heard quite a ruckus in the back and out came a different young man, equally as polite and proceeded to explain that the chef is unwilling to "lose money" on the dish and I would still be charged. I was dumbfounded. If they could remake it properly I'd love to have it. He returned to the kitchen, about 10 minutes later he returned with the dish I snapped a picture of. It looked more like the dish I was used to having here. The gravy had been thickened so it looked promising! However....... when I tasted it I almost gagged. It was soooooooooo salty. Whether in over compensation or for spite the dish now tasted like a bottle of soy sauce. I was over the experience at this point and asked for the bill. The apologetic waiter took the drinks off in an attempt to rectify the situation, with no manager on site and the chef refusing to acknowledge anything his hands were tied. However I'm so jaded with experience that $16 dish in the long run will cost hundreds maybe thousands in business. I've referred countless clients to this restaurant, whenever there is a company choice on a business lunch I've chosen here. I've come with family many times. I stop in for tea a few times a month and I live over an hour away. I was intending on having dessert with a dish and drinks to go for my mom at home but I couldn't see myself patronizing this establishment anymore. I'm really sad about it. read more

I ordered dinner and a bubble tea. They made the tea and ran out of tapioca balls and refused to issue a refund or switch out my drink. Then they mocked me and said "I have a woman going ham on me about a drink". Horrible customer service. Needles to say I won't be back. Even if tho the pad Thai shrimp was dry and the shrimp was rubbery i still might be came back if it wasn't for the poor people skills and terrible attitude of the workers. Unfortunately, it was utter disappointment. I heard good things about this place, and I was so looking forward to finding a new local favorite Thai spot. But sadly, this just isn't it. I first started off with a small bowl of Tom Yum Goong; I couldn't finish it. First, the smell of the soup was horrendous. I thought I'd give it a shot (against my better judgment) anyway. I wish I hadn't. The soup was very salty, and it left that nasty smell of a taste in my mouth. I pushed it off to the side, hoping someone would come save me from it, but no one did (I'll speak on service in a bit). My main course was the Pad See Yew, and my guest had Khao Pad / Fried Rice. Both, unfortunately, lacked flavor. We ended up adding soy sauce, and an attempt to save the meal. It was mediocre at best. We sat after our poor attempt to eat our food for 30-35 minutes, waiting for someone to bring us our check. No one came. No one came to check on us at all throughout our entire time there (other than to take our orders). I resulted in walking to the front, and requesting our bill (I was dying to escape, as a rowdy crowd entered, and it was obvious that they planned to turn this seemingly family style dinner place into a bar scene). When given my bill, I saw that I was charged twice for bubble tea (we only ordered one, and even that wasn't up to standards). Error corrected, and I couldn't have been happier to be on my way, and away from this place. Two stars for the family oriented decor. I REALLY wanted to like this place. My wife and I were in the food for something spicy and didn't really want to drive to Manhattan. So we randomly drive north and ended up at this spot in Carmel. First and foremost, we were pretty surprised by how big this place was. It's actually very nicely decorated and even at 5pm on a Sunday evening it was pretty busy. We started off with some bubble tea which was pretty underwhelming but I give them credit for offering it. The shrimp rolls that we started off were perfect and we enjoyed the dipping sauce that they came with. The Thai fried rice with pork went beautifully with the egg and chilli with duck. We asked for all the food to come of spicy (4 on a scale of 5) and the food still tasted pretty mild to us. Again, not their fault but we know to ask for a higher number next time. They mislabeled 3 star spicy and non-spicy wings and caused me to choke on my lunch that I couldn't eat. Since they don't deliver, they wouldn't right a wrong by replacing the wings.
