Great service, fresh food cooked to order, large portions. Having never tried Thai before we ordered it at "3" heat on a scale of 1-5. Lol, it was burning my lips off. My husband got the garlic fried rice with chicken and I got the stir fried noodles with shrimp. I got some coconut soup also that had cabbage and cauliflower in it that I did not care for but I don't particular care for coconut. Spring rolls were really good. Overall, it was really good but I have nothing to compare it to! Definitely can feed a family on one or two menu items! Side note: this is just carry out. They discontinued in house dining. No longer vegetarian or vegan. When owned by Jin and Jeff we were regulars. As in weekly. When they were forced to close myself and friends were devastated. As vegans it was so convenient to be able to order food and have it made properly. After Thai Nation reopened I made it a point to try it that first week. It was lack luster to say the least. The portions seemed nearly half the size and the flavor was not quite right. However I understand it's a new chef and I was willing to give it a second go. That was a mistake. While I waited for my food I could see the chef VAPING in the kitchen! I'm sure that is a heath code violation and is just completely disgusting. I received a dish that was 80% tofu with a few carrots on top. After taking a few bites I began to question the flavor. I immediately called them and at first they didn't want to tell me the ingredients in their dish. Once I got it out of the chef he proceeded to tell me it had chicken broth in it and that it's acceptable for vegetarians. After I assured him that it was not and that I'm vegan he offered to remake me a meal. I do appreciate the effort put in to correct the meal. However they obviously can't be trusted when it comes to making a meal that adheres to specific dietary needs. Such a let down. Unfortunately I won't be back. read more

Tried Thai nation for the first time tonight, and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the red curry with chicken, spice level 2. It was delicious! So fresh and such great flavor. You could tell it was freshly made to order, and steaming hot even though we got it to go. Spring rolls were also good, a bit greasy, but delicious none the less. Orange sauce is on point! Will return to try more! Update... much to my dismay, Getting a Togo order from Thai nation is pretty much impossible on the weekends. For 3 Friday's in a row, we've been quoted an hour + for a take out order. So for 3 Friday's in a row, we've gone to Bangkok peppers. Love this place, but if they want to keep customers they make need to take steps to keep up with growing volume of customers. This place has really good food, but it is a little bit pricey. I've always been happy with it though. Just as good as Bangkok Peppers, if not better. Sometimes the wait can be long, but that just means the food is good right? Never had any rude interactions either, always very friendly. I reccomend this place to a lot of people. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air to not only Burton, but Genesee County. There is a small seating area for dining in. Very intimate, but very clean and inviting. The owner was so friendly and nice, and very skilled and helpful while ordering. The food is phenomenal! You can tell it's all made to order, with fresh ingredients . The seasoning and spices are perfection. The chicken was lean, the noodles and rice cooked just right. The portions are very generous. I was blown away by the four dishes that I sampled. The spice levels are very accurate so no heat surprises on that first bite. The spring rolls were great and not oily at all. The orange chicken - that sauce- oh wow such a burst of flavor! Compliments the rice amazingly. The pad Thai has fresh crunchy carrots and lots of chicken. The drunken noodles are packed with sauce and veggies and meat . Yum! My husband and I have been to Thai Nation Bistro several times and try to order something new every time. We love the cabbage roles and our waiter remembers our favorites. We bring family and friends here and they were even able to accommodate someone with a peanut allergy. This was my first time trying this new restaurant. It was highly recommended by a friend. I am happy to hear another Thai restaurant open because I have always gone to BangKok Peppers. I ordered the Tofu Pad Thai with 4 spicy level and the sweet rice with mango. I thought the pad Thai was good but not excellent. However the sweet rice with mango was delicious! We tried three different entrees and shared a few spring rolls. Everyone was very happy with their selections. I had peanut noodles with chicken, she tried the Pad Thai. Step daughter had a green curry dish . I ordered mine rather spicy and I am glad that I tried 4/5 rather than going to the 5! HOT ! We've been looking for a place to get some local Thai food, and were excited when we heard Thai Nation Bistro was opening. After finally getting a chance to stop in and eat - we were not disappointed. A few things: 1) The food was great! Seriously tasted like some of the best Thai food I've had during travels. 2) Everyone was super friendly. And not just the "I work here" friendly, but the "We like people" friendly. 3) Allergy and diet safe. They worked to ensure that things were prepared in such a way that it would be safe for me to eat. Also - I overheard a conversation where something wasn't quite right for a customer. They went above and beyond to make things right. I love that this place is local and family run. Seriously a great place to eat and a great place to support. read more

I work in Fowlerville and Thai cuisine is one of my favorites, so I'm always craving Thai food. The closest Thai restaurant is in Howell, so I was pretty excited when I heard that Thai Nation would be opening in Williamston, giving us more options for Thai food. I had the chance to dine here for lunch today. Angie (my server and the owner's sister) was really pleasant and I could tell she was trying her very best! It seemed she was alone there for a little bit until Greg (host? server?) started helping her out. I was given the menu and overall, it was an ok variety of food. I can tell, though, that they're trying to be different from other Thai restaurants. On their appetizer menu, they're not serving your typical spring rolls or egg rolls. Instead, they had what looked like meatballs, satay, Thai tacos, deep fried cabbage rolls and chicken wings. I ordered the bite sized deep fried cabbage rolls and the spicy basil pan-fried noodles. My noodles came out before my appetizer, which was fine with me.. but then I found myself waiting an extra 10 minutes after I had already started eating my noodles before it came out. I was surprised because the deep fried cabbage rolls did not quite resemble the picture provided on their menu/website. In the picture, it looked as though the meat was wrapped in cabbage and then battered and deep fried. What I got was just the meat inside the cabbage that was deep fried, no batter on the outside. That was fine, as I do not solely base my likeness of a dish on how similar they can make the dish to their pictures, but there was a little too much grease on the plate from the cabbage. I tried to cut through the cabbage with the knife, but it was a little hard to do so. I decided to just eat the whole thing and it took me a while to chew it. The cabbage itself was still a bit too crunchy and hard to swallow because of the grease. However, the meat on the inside was good! As for the noodles, the taste was phenomenal! I chose to go with a spicy level of 3 but felt that it could've been a bit spicier (and I don't usually get above a 2). I actually like that they used ground meat as opposed to sliced meat. I always seem to have huge pieces of meat leftover whenever I order pan-friend noodles, so the ground meat was great. With that being said, I found that some of my noodles didn't get the coating of the sauce. Besides that, the taste was excellent and I also enjoyed the spicy green peppers in the dish. Overall, my experience was not a total bad one. Angie was really sweet and you could tell that everyone was working hard to make everything go well. Thai Nation has only been opened for 5 days so it is understandable that they're still trying to figure it out. I'm not crossing them off of my list because this place has some major potential. I feel that once they get their dishes down pat and hire more workers, they'll be good to go! read more

I'm just so bummed and disappointed. We've tried this twice now, as our custom is to have Thaï food once a week for 30 plus years of marriage. I'm so sorry to say that I 100% agree with one of the other reviews that this is Thaï inspired cuisine, not Thaï food. The people are so nice, the place is so convenient, but I guess it's back to Bangkok Peppers in Grand Blanc for our once a week Thaï. It almost seems like they have their taste in food, and even though it doesn't match what we think of as Thai, they are determined to stay the course. This was our last time. Best of luck. The only negative thing I have to say is there was way to much tofu in the fried rice. I literally had to pick it out of the dish. This was my second experience dinning at Thai Nation. The first time was right when they opened and you could tell at the time they were still trying to figure out exactly how to run a restaurant. The food both times though has been excellent. This most recent time my wife joined me and she had nothing but rave reviews. We started with the fried spring rolls. These were very fresh, very hot, and the sauce that comes with them was delicious. My wife ordered a pineapple curry dish and I had the sweet and sour plate. The tofu was perfectly cooked and all the veggies were fresh. You get more than enough for the price and you usually will have leftovers(we did at least). The desert was a clean, not to sweet, rice pudding with home made ice cream. Great portion to share and a great way to finish your dinning experience here. We dined at what appeared to be a slow time(Wednesday at 5pm), so the service was quick, polite and friendly. I cannot comment on how they do when the restaurant is busier or full, but if you can catch them at a slow time, it is a perfect dinning experience. My wife and I agree this is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in Michigan, and even ranks up there with some of the best we've had in the states. Overall, for two people with an appetizer, two entrees and a desert you can leave for around $40.00. Not a perfect 5 star, but a solid 4.5 star. read more

Crab rangoon in the shape of roses with a light sauce, possibly one of the best ive tried. Don't bother. Just go to Thai Princess in Okemos. Food took FOREVER to arrive and flavor was quite sub par. Waited twenty minutes for tiny salads and main dishes came out about 15 minutes later at the same time as the appetizer we ordered. My curry was just hot w no complimentary flavors. Nice eggplant in it but the pumpkin was hard and stringy. My husband's garlic pork? had no spice, although he got a higher level spice than I. Over an hour to have dinner served is too long. Especially when my husband had to wait ten more minutes for his dinner. There were three full tables when we were there on a Friday night. Each table was served one plate at a time which is very awkward...do we eat, wait for the rest to get their food, ? I can only imagine what happened when we left and all tables were filled. In the meantime, people came in, placed their take-out orders and received their food before we did. This is wrong. Honestly, I like to give the benefit of the doubt to new enterprises but come on. It was like their first night open only two weeks later. Only accept cash or checks as they don't have their credit card set up yet? Not good. As for the food, my fried rice was gummy and not like anything I have ever had at a Thai restaurant before and Thai is my favorite ethnic food.
